During the latest PlayStation Blogcast, Sony has announced that it is bringing Killzone 3’s complete multiplayer suite to the PlayStation Network as a standalone download next week. The component will be free to download, but will have a level cap in place requiring you to stump up $15 in order to unlock the full mode.
While this idea sounds pretty novel, it’s not the first time Sony’s tried something like it. A couple of years back it also released a free version of MMO-like shooter, MAG, which also incorporated a level cap in order to drive sales.
It’s a win-win situation for Sony as well as consumers as far as we’re concerned. Getting to try something before you buy it can never be a bad thing, and who knows, you might actually like it.

This is freakin' awesome!
Now they just need to enable it over remote play and I'll be a happy gamer
Win/Win is right. :3
Awesome. I am all over this like a chicken on a june bug.
This is an awesome way to advertise the game. Hopefully people will soon see how fantastic Killzone 3's multiplayer is and pick the game up because of it.
I can't believe I bought the collector's edition on release day and STILL haven't played a single online game. The single player campaign was an awesome experience in 3D and using move controls. I'll be playing this online for sure now that a bunch of new people will be playing it. Kudos to Sony for doing this.
