Take-Two is half a tap away from taking control of the WWE license. A report published shortly after the untimely demise of former holder THQ had pegged the publisher as the new ringleader for the bizarrely popular franchise, but the firm's now issued an official statement confirming the news.
"At this time, the agreement is pending court approval and we anticipate that it will be finalised shortly," a spokesperson told IGN. "We are very excited about the potential of this agreement and will have more to share at the appropriate time."
Apparently, the organisation intends to keep developer Yuke's on board. The Japanese studio has been making wrestling games since before dinosaurs roamed the Earth, so we suppose that it would be crazy for them to stop now. Exact financial details regarding the deal are yet to be disclosed, but we're sure that we'll learn more once the ink has dried. We wouldn't be surprised if a new instalment in the sweaty series didn't pop up shortly afterwards, either.

Good. I hope they give the series a much needed spit-shine.
@Confused_Dude - I thought WWE 12 and 13 was much improved over the stale SD vs Raw series.
I'm curious where they go with it.
I haven't played a wrestling game, since Smackdown vs Raw 2010. If WWE 14, is good, I may end up playing again.
@Splat Oh, for sure! Loved '12 and '13, a marked improvement on the SvR series. I'd just like to see a little photorealism in these games e.g. http://s142.beta.photobucket.com/user/zombiesupastar/media/bookt.jpg.html
Well, not EA so that's a good thing. Be interesting to see what Take-Two does with it, if it keeps Yuke's around, I'm guessing things won't change too much.
