If there was one PlayStation game that we’d expect Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto to target during his time exploring Sony’s E3 2013 booth, it’s Tearaway. The colourful PlayStation Vita platformer is definitely in the Super Mario creator’s wheelhouse, boasting a vibrant world built entirely out of cardboard cut-outs and crumpled tissue paper.
And here is the man himself spending a moment with the game. Polygon editor Michael McWhertor snapped this sneaky image from the showfloor. There’s no word on what Miyamoto played next, but we’d have encouraged him to check out Puppeteer – the Japan Studio sidescroller has got a distinctly Nintendo flavour to it, too.

Lol he looks stone cold!
Maybe if it was to be launched in the 3DS would sell well, but vita i don't think so, all i heard is people complaining that the system don't have a big shooter, i don't care about shooters so i will certainly buy Tearaway!
@ferrers405 Actually, I think a game like Tearaway is just what the Vita needs to give it some variety!
@ferrers405 What the Vita needs is Bioshock or an inFAMOUS port. Tearaway will be a very, very welcome addition though. Mercenary could help turn the Vita if it's as good as people believe it will be.
@NintendoNaut yeah, but vita has variety, what it's need is games that sell very well, i will help buying the games until i see there's no more breath of life(vita).
I really wanna hear his thoughts. He looks mad. Either he's jealous he hadn't thought of it or... yeah he's jealous.
What the vita needs is a price cut.
What Vita needs are games.
Release games and gamers will come.
@ferrers405
It's not the lack of a shooter, it's the lack of a big name AAA retail release, period, that people are complaining about. I actually think the system has a great library but it could certainly use something like GTA, or has been mentioned, Bioshock.
@Gamer83 what i say it's people i know just keep talking about a shooter, vita needs a shooter, blah blah blah, like i say later vita has a good variety of games e i agree with you that needs a big game like those you mentioned.
@ferrers405
Yeah, unfortuantely those games have basically no chance of happening until the system starts selling better. Sony needs to make some price adjustments especially on the memory cards. $100 for 32 GB of space? That's utterly ridiculous.
It's kind of neat and ironic to see Miyamoto playing a Vita.
@ObviouslyAdachi
Or maybe hes just really focused on what hes doing. He might be trying to pick it apart and decide what their up against.
I think its kinda neat that Miyamoto takes some time out of his busy schedule to check out the competition.
@Zombie_Barioth He always does. Only way to see what your up against, competition-wise, is to try it yourself. Must have been a massive buzz for the MM team there though to turn around and see the closest thing this industry has to a God playing their game.
@rastamadeus That's pretty much what I thought. I bet they're grinning like mad still.
@rastamadeus
Theres not doub in my mind thats what he was up to, I was refering to ObviouslyAdachi's comment that he looks mad.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall listening to the commotion when people realized Miyamoto himself was at their booth playing Tearaway.
What Vita needs is a small price drop and a massive price drop on the memory cards.
I still don't get why people are commenting that the Vita needs a price cut/games when that has absolutely nothing to do with the article!
This Industry is full of LOVE
Tearaway is the Sony game I would expect him to play.
