If you’re a proponent of digital avatar dancing you may want to apply a moody expression to your PlayStation Home protagonist, as Sony has announced that it’s to stop updating the virtual world in Japan from September. While you’ll still be able to access the online application for the time being, there’ll be no new costumes for you to wear or locations for you to visit. The content rollout will end in March in other Asian territories.
The platform holder assures that it will continue updating the European and North American worlds for the foreseeable future, but this sounds like the beginning of the end to us. The big question is: will the manufacturer eventually turn its attention to a new PlayStation 4 version of the online sandbox, or give up on the idea entirely? What do you reckon? Let us know in the comments section below.

They might try to introduce a new PS home for PS4 later but I hope isn't as boring as this one. Hope they implement a new currency system instead of paying for everything or at least make the games a bit more fluid, that's all I'm asking for.
I hope this doesn't signify the end for PS Home. I don't spend money on Home myself but I like to check it out every now and then. I usually end up spending quite a bit of time just exploring different spaces and games whenever I do log in.
Given Sony's pension for F2P games I would think Home will live on. They will probably bring Home out of "beta" on PS4 and have most of the features we were hoping to get on ps3 ie trophy rooms.
Personally, I didn't like PlayStation Home that much. Especially due to the awful avatar designs. I was hoping for something cool and whimsical like the avatar designs Microsoft has on XBOX Live or Nintendo's Miis on the Wii. The funky character designs on the PSP with PlayStation Room were a definite step in the right direction. Hopefully, Sony will roll out something similar to PlayStation Room or the XBOX Live avatar system on the PS4 and PS Vita.
Much of the reason I didn't use Playstation Home is because everything was SOOO SLOOW. I felt like I was waiting for a PS1 game to load whenever I went to a new location or did anything.
Home was a great concept but it wasn't executed very well. I find it odd that it is still in beta but then again I haven't logged into home in months.
@PMasterTy9 Maybe people would be more interested if they made it more similar to Gaia Online? I was never too into it myself, but it would attract a LOT of female gamers/casual gamers given the popularity of it. Or maybe just a business partnership with them would be enough.
I haven't used home since they were giving away beta access to Dust 514. It would always take forever to load and would freeze my PS3 more times than not.
I used to play PS Home a LOT when I first got my PS3 and played Salt Shooter for hours. Maybe if they brought PS Home to PS4, they could play around with that face expression tech for the Camera. So much potential.
The only issue with PS Home is that it is way to slow to do everything. If they actually took it out of Beta and put some decent servers behind it, it may have been interesting.
Honestly, I'm just not that patient.
I really like the concept behind Home, but as others said way too slow. That's only one of the issues though. Its really missing something. Maybe if they integrated it into the system as an optional interface to do anything, at any time, with anyone... Like chat, launch a co-op session, browse, watch shows with friends, skype, that sort of thing, but seamless. Not sure, but better implementation, and features/fun.
Just remembered playing Xi when Home first launched. Very cool and interesting. Made online buddies while working together to solve in-game puzzles, and find clues in the real world, across the globe to find out what the mystery was behind Xi. Even had a live person who would give video recorded hints, and info for you to figure out through checking emails, and working with people. Lasted a few months I believe. Left an impression on me. They need more of that for Home, but leave out the micro transactions like they did when they tried a new version of that experience. That kept me from playing the second one.
