The doors of the LA Convention Centre haven't even opened yet, but E3 2015 has already been crazy. Sony has just rounded out a blockbuster day of media briefings, where the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Project Morpheus featured prominently. Arguably the biggest announcement, though, was Shenmue III. And Final Fantasy VII Remake. And The Last Guardian. And... Are we dreaming?
But did the Japanese giant impress you? It's been a mixed few months for the format holder, as the PS4 continues to sell at record pace – while its fans grow increasingly disgruntled. Did the manufacturer allay your concerns? Are you on board with Project Morpheus now? And what was the highlight/lowlight of the show? Vote in our poll and let us know.
How would you rate Sony's E3 2015 press conference? (131 votes)

The greatest E3 conference of all time. We just witnessed it.
They destroyed E3 this year! Anyone who disagrees is a fool! I think the game I'm most excited for is Horizon! Final Fantasy 7, The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, the Shenmue 3 campaign! Ugh!
Almost nothing from VR and Morpheus, that's at least a 9.5 for me although I felt the absence from Persona 5 in the show.
I didn't understood Dreams, but Horizon and Last Guardian seem incredible.
Yes.
Sony just won every E3 ever
Awesome sony!
I'm still coming to terms. I feel like I don't need to sleep ever again.
Lmao Sony slayed the competition. Everyone writing them off. Horizon looks incredible. Horizon and The Last Guardian are both the most original games for this generation. I love Guerrilla Games and Horizon just looks crazy.
Horizon-Guerrilla Games
The Last Guardian-Sony Japan Studio
Dreams-Media Molecule
3 new IP.
We still didn't see
Quantic Dreams's new IP
Sony Bend's new IP
Gran Turismo 7 from Polyphony Digital
God Of War 4 from Sony Santa Monica Studio
This is why I love PlayStation, it has epitomized diversity for many many years. There's always something for everyone.
Sony still has Paris Game Show, TGS, and PSX. Wow.
Zomg the Last Guardian 2016! Sony won for me 1 minute in & just kept in coming for 90 more minutes!
"Oh. My. God."
That says it all for me too.
As far as actual Sony games went Horizon and Uncharted 4 (U4 - just WOW!!) most of the 3rd Party stuff was OK but advertising Kickstarter (not even a game), showing TLG that looked dull and boring - like it did 5+ years ago,some weird art 'game', a boring but LARGE exploration game, TV and VR so over all MEH.
Had they just shown Horizon and Uncharted 4 though, I would still be happy!
I'm not even a Sony fan or Ps4 owner, I was impressed too. Heck by next years end I might want a PS4. I thought the most impressive titles were Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, and Uncharted 3. I thought Black Ops III was dissapointing and we didn't even get to see Zombies.
Nintendo has to pull off what they did last year to even come close to Sony's presentation. As for Microsoft, I didn't even know they had a conference today.
@BAMozzy You guys have to understand the impact, though. Shenmue III is basically a dream for me and for many millions of others. It's almost a reality.
Shots fired and its clear that sony outdone themselves. Amazing just amazing. Horizon looked brilliant, last guardian blew me away, shemnue 3!!!!! Wtffff just i witnessed ... Holy crap that was some good E3 conference
I guess I'm the only one who was disappointed? Nothing really interested me or I'd seen it already. No Man's Sky and Uncharted are cool but I already knew of them.
I mean Shenmue is cool but it'll be so far away if its just starting kickstarter.
Yep Horizon Zero Dawn! Uncharted 4! No Man's Sky! And um.....
It had all the bombs. I was impressed.
I absolutely loved it. There is only one thing that kept it from being the best ever and that was the absence of Persona 5. I know that may sound crazy but that is the only game I want to know more about at the moment. Sony could have come out, said hello, and given a release date for P5 and it would've been the best E3 ever.
Sony Just dragged all over the competition. What a tour de force,came out guns blazing.
Only a Final Fantasy 7 exclusivity could have sweetened this honey pot even more.
Please watch the language -Tasuki-
Greatest ever, no. Great? Definitely. I went in expecting to be underwhelmed, but the conference flowed, had plenty of great content and Uncharted 4 seems on track to be my favorite game of 2016. And they did hold back a little bit. I was surprised we didn't get a demo of Ratchet & Clank. Maybe later this year.
A conference that had:
The Last Guardian.
AN ACTUAL FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.
Shenmue III
This is like the real equivalent of a fanboy's most outrageous wet dream. How anyone can not be in awe is beyond my comprehension.
Anyone know if the characters in FFVII Remake will still look like the ones from the original (Chibi style)?
let's try to not get overexcited, yes the conference was great, and would certainly sell lots of PS4s, however, is very unlikely that we will be playing any of the game showed anytime soon... The Last Guardian not having a proper release date beyond the vague 2016 after 10 years in development is very concerning.... If Nomura is directing the Final Fantasy VII remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 and FF XV are not even finished, its not realistic to hope to play FF VII remastered within the next 5 years, since shenmue is a kickstarter that means they have not even started working on it, so 3 years at the least before it is playable
That was so good. So many bombs dropped. I can't believe it. I'm with Sammy on this one, best gaming press conference of all time. It feels like they had more to show if they had more time too.
10/10 for me!
The Last Guardian
Horizon
Street Fighter V
Dreams
Shenmue 3
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Uncharted 4
And that's even without them showcasing Persona 5!!!
@ShogunRok Lol that's exactly what I thought.
In all seriousness I am looking forward to Horizon the most. I don't like FF VII, never will and I got misty eyed when Shenmue III was announced.
It's good to be a PS4 owner.
@Tasuki Horizon could be the Monster Hunter that I never had on the PS3/PS4.
Here's hoping that it has co-op play as well!
@ShogunRok Forget the internet Sony just won THE WORLD! The most amazing press conference ever yet people have some sort of disillusioned view of it. I dont understand but Im in awe.
@ShogunRok
If somebody doesn't care about Sony's franchises or think FF VII is overrated (I actually fall into the latter camp), I can see being underwhelmed. Still can't see how anybody could call it poor but being indifferent to the games, I get because a lot of times when I see people saying Nintendo dominated this and that I look and just kind of shrug my shoulders simply because I don't care for most of its franchises. I can still appreciate a good showing though and Sony absolutely had that. Anybody saying otherwise is kidding themselves.
I would like a little more info on some games though. Horizon for example. Will I be able to play that offline, single player? Or do I need a constant connect, those were initial rumors surrounding that game. What was shown at the conference looked great so I'm definitely interested, just need more details. Hopefully over the next few days.
@Jaz007
You're right, Sony definitely held back. We know God of War 4 is coming, we know GT 7 is coming, didn't see those. Didn't see Ratchet & Clank. Like MS held back some Gamescom, my guess is Sony is gearing up for the PlayStation Experience. I also think we could see some big announcements at TGS.
"Did Sony's Big E3 2015 Press Conference Deliver?"
Is this a serious question?
this year had some of the biggest surprises in the history of E3, and some really great trailers too (Horizon looks fantastic, as usual with Guerrilla Games )
For PS4 owners this must be great. But as a portable person, I was really hoping the Vita might get some kind of nudge. A shame that Sony is treating it as a PS4 peripheral in the West.
Great Conference
@Vineleaf They did show it off a bit, though! They even had that covered! (Though I understand why Vita fans would be disappointed.)
Sony brought nuclear weapons to a knife fight. Seriously! I can't believe what I watched.
I'm a Nintendo fan (but a PS4 owner) and this was the very best.
@DualWielding Nomura hasn't been involved with FF XV since 2012. Haijime Tabata is the director.
Yes they delivered on so many levels!
@Tats
You weren't the only one disappointed. Don't let these blind Sony fantatics tell you any different.
Horizon does look intetesting, yes. And Uncharted will, most likely, rule. And the FFVII remake will probably be cool.
However, most of this "OMG!!! Last Guardian!!!" talk is ridiculous. Nobody knows if that game will be any good, whatsoever. It's been delayed countless times & has gone through development hell. That almost never ends well, for any game.
Shenmue 3.......there is a reason that series died off & has to resort to Kickstarter to get it going again.....most people don't care. Hardcore Jap game lovers at this site, nonewithstanding.
Media Molecule shows us.......um......something. Also, most of these games aren't even close to being released in the near future, much less showed any gameplay. Most people in this comments section are getting all crazy over something they haven't even seen yet.
Microsoft could've done the same thing......"Coming in 2 yrs from now......(insert game title here)......crowd goes crazy bc they name dropped a title." Snore.
I would vote a "Meh." Sony definitely brought, what they interpet to be, their big guns (they had to since Microsoft slapped them w/ backwards compatability), but apparently I am just not interested in those "guns".
Oh & Sony's continued complete disrespect of the Vita is absolutely disgraceful. What a joke.
This was by far the greatest E3 I've ever watched Xbox, Sony and Bethesda all three blew my F'ing brains out!
Gotta keep from dieing of hype Comic-Con is coming soon I'll die then.
Just ignore him, no need to fire back that's all he is looking for is to get people riled up -Tasuki-
Uncharted looked awesome! The rest I'll need to look into though as I'm pretty much in the dark on what The Last Gaurdian or Shenmue is so I'll have to figure those out before I can say their show got me hyped. The Last Gaurdian gameplay didn't explain a whole lot for me, but I am quite intruiged by Shenmue! I'm just nowhere near as mind blown as everyone else seems to be haha.
Wonderful conference, was really worried going in but it shows how much attention Sony are paying to the gamers. MS's showings were all well and good but just seem safe and stale in comparison.
FF7 remake.. What more can I say!!!
LOVED the conference! Im excited for evetything but Infinity. But of course the only Vita game they mention is a kiddy Final Fantasy game.... Why did i even hope for more.
@audiobrainiac
That was one more Vita game than most expected. It's a sad situation but we have to take what we can get. This FF game looks like it could actually be pretty decent.
@Gamer83 true. I won't deny I'm a little interested.
@KelticDevil You've never played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus have? I think the trailer showed was very promising.
@audiobrainiac
I'm not a huge Final Fantasy fan anymore but it looks like this will span quite a bit of the series. If it has some old school references, I'm a little interested too. The fact there's a Vita version helps. Seems like the style fits a handheld system well and eventhough it never took off like I wish it did, I've been a fan of the Vita from the day Sony announced it.
@ferrers405 @Cowboysfan-22 I'm not sure why you guys expected P5 to be there. While the Shin Megami Tensei, and by extension, Persona, is a fantastic series, it really doesn't sell that much in the west. With Persona 4 Golden having lifetime sales of about .47 million units, and that's combining EU and NA figures(.30m in NA and .17m in EU). E3 is an attempt to sell consoles to a western audience, so it will be predominantly western games, unless they're massive successes like Final Fantasy. Besides, it's not like they aren't going to be showing it at TGS. ;^)
@Jaz007
I played & beat Ico. I thought it was overrated. I never played SoTC.
My concern about The Last Guardian is more about how long the game has been in development & what little we gamers have even seen of it. Not many games that go through that amount of "develoment hell" turn out to be very good. Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human, Prey (I did really like this one, though) are examples of that.
It's developed an insane amount of hype almost soley based on the fact that some people loved Ico/SoTC, the infamous way it's been teased & it's ridiculous development history.
Hopefully it actually gets released & lives up to fans massive expectations.
I had to sleep after ubi, however the ff7 remake trailer.....
The minute the chimes came in before the view of the buster sword. I had goosebumps. I feel @get2sammyb was wrong with his prediction. Sony has learnt and is actually getting better. Come on!!
The most exciting Sony E3 press conference EVER and probably the best press conference this E3! That says a lot, i've been watching them since the beginning.
@get2sammyb I know its your dream and therefore its everything you wanted. As someone with no bias and having watched all the briefings so far, I kind of felt disappointed by Sony's briefing.
The Last Guardian, regardless, visually wasn't that great - you can call it an art style if you want but doesn't look as great as games like the Witcher 3, Batman, Uncharted 4 etc. and what they did show, wasn't really different from the first reveal however many years ago that was.
Shenmue was very over-rated in my opinion but regardless, showing off a kickstarter campaign at a briefing is just wrong. Its not yet a thing!
Dreams looks just weird - visually interesting but not really a 'game'....
Most of the Sony games didn't even have release dates and I wouldn't be surprised if most get shown at next years E3. We also got to see a section on TV (something MS got slated for 2 years ago) and the Morpheus bit really didn't look as impressive as the Hololens Minecraft demo... After MS's briefing, you criticised them for 'playing it safe' with it's franchises - Halo, Gears and Forza and yet I felt Sony did the same with its briefing - Uncharted, The Last Guardian, FF7 - even its links with Star Wars based games and now CoD too. Quite a few had already been seen at EA and Ubisofts briefings as well.
As someone with both an XB1 and a PS4, MS's announcement of Backwards Compatibility and the ability to play MP in those against players on XB360 was a BIG announcement. Also a new 'Elite' controller to rival Scuff was a great announcement for me. Maybe MS didn't have a game to rival Uncharted in my eyes but Rise of the Tomb Raider looked great and the new GoW did too. Horizon was admittedly the biggest surprise of all the 'new' games although I would like to know when its due. MS had ReCore that looked interesting and a Rare collection - which is basically a history of my life in gaming - apart from 3-4, I owned every single one of the titles and only $30 (probably around £25) too. Almost everything MS showed is expected before E3 next year and it too didn't show games like Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown similar to the lack of certain Sony annuncements
I can't deny that in terms of best new game (as in one not shown before), Horizon took that and best game overall, Uncharted took that but overall and discounting 3rd Party multi platform games, for me I don't think Sony delivered as much as MS but in all honesty it didn't need too as much. It still had more to interest me than Ubisoft and EA....
In terms of megaton announcements, nothing else is ever going to come close to this. Not for a loooong time at least. It's simple maths, 2 of Sony's biggest reveals were games that millions of fans have been clamouring for for the last 10-15 years or so, but that nobody really believed would ever get made. For many gamers this was the moment that 10+ years of hopes and dreams just became that bit more real. I honestly can't think of anything else that comes even close to these two in terms of how many people want have been crying out for them over such a prolonged period.
To my mind, it'll be another 10+ years at least before we see another E3 with announcements like this, simply because it will take that long for another potential product to build itself up to the same level of frenzied demand from fans as these two titles.
Here's hoping the FFVII remake will aim for a 2017 release to tie in with the 20th anniversary! It's reassuring to see Nomura at the helm. Fingers crossed for Uematsu on soundtrack duty too!! As long as they don't dumb the story down or switch up the gameplay too much (no real time combat please), this has potential to be staggeringly good...
Xbox showed off better games for me this year. Last Guardian and Shemue aren't something I'm interested in, U4 tho looks sweet but considering imo Tomb Raider was better than any other Uncharted I feel like it might be better than U4. Xbox also showed off Gear's,Forza and Halo which is looking good considering I ain't liked it since 3 and also the backwards compatibility really makes me wanna get an Xbox, but I doubt ill ever jump ship I'm to accustom to PS now again.
For me Sony had a much better variety than MS which is part of the reason I left the Xbox camp in the first place.
I do miss Forza but always found Halo and Gears overrated.
On PS4 I have a list of wanted games as long as my arm so am quite content and this showing just bolsters my opinion that PS4 is the best place for me... (with a Wii U also that is!)
2016 will be EPIC. The Last Guardian, Horizon, DARK SOULS 3!!!, hopefully Dreams, Zelda, etc etc
@KelticDevil Yeah that 3second Vita video was a slap in the face, but its not like we didn't see that coming. Also I agree that most Sony announcements are very early, but they are finally listening to fans.
Most of the Microsoft stuff I got excited for turned out to be coming to PS4 as well (F4 mods, Dark Souls 3 etc etc) I'll still buy one but not this year.
@get2sammyb it is a double edged sword for me, i really didnt want them to bang on about morpheus and try to demo it so thay was perfect. However i still now know nothing more about the headset at all. No name, price, release date. Im surprised nothing came out about it at the biggest conference of the year. Whats your thoughts on the way morpheus was handled?
There were some corkers on show but, for me, the most interesting game announced was Firewatch.
Hey guys was anything shown of WILD? I Havent had time to watch full conference yet.
@Davros79 No, WILD wasn't shown at all during the conference.
Oh thanks, WILD is another exclusive to look forward to.
