Think you've got a big appetite? You ain't got nothing on a God Eater, as these guys make even Michael Phelps' calorie-laden meals look microscopic. Bandai Namco has announced that, after much fan demand, God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2: Rage Burst are heading overseas for the PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2016. A nice early Christmas present, no?
God Eater Resurrection is an updated edition of God Eater Burst, which launched on the PlayStation Portable all the way back in 2011. Meanwhile, God Eater 2: Rage Burst is an expansion to God Eater 2. Are you paying attention back there? It's unclear if these games will be sold separately or as part of a compilation package, but we'll check in with the publisher to find out for sure.
And for those of you who are out of the loop entirely, God Eater is a Monster Hunter-esque franchise which involves slaughtering oversized foes using a variety of sidearms. The series sells incredibly well in Japan, so it's no surprise to see it finally return to Western shores. It's nice to see the company keep the name the same, too – Gods Eater, what the flying fudge was that?

Will buy. Along with Yakuza Zero. These kind of 'B' games provide the depth and quality to a console's library that made me make the switch to PlayStation over a decade ago. Unfortunately they don't seem to sell that well in the West and I don't expect that to change now but as long as the developers/publishers are willing to take the risk I'm going to support the games.
That early Christmas present line had me thinking this was releasing on PS4 this month and on Vita sometime in 2016
Wasnt really a fan of God Eater when it first released, hopefully these updated versions tighten up the mechanics
@BertoFlyingFox Updated the article to make it clearer.
Tales of Berseria, Mobile Suit Gundam: V-Force (?) for vita, JoJo's: Eyes of Deception (?) were also announced for the West
Wooo, go Vita!
@viciousarcanum Yep, working through them all now, worry not!
I'll definitely get these for the Vita! Happy third party is still supporting the Vita
I almost imported this a few months back I'm glad i waited as I don't understand a word of japenese
Digimon! One Piece! God Eater! Final Fantasy XV! Bravely Second! Fire Emblem Fates! Persona 5! Valkyria Chronicles sequel! And more! Thank god for japanese games and for 2016!!
Buying both.
Will this be available in Europe or just North America?
Just sold my Vita. Never got any use anyway. Waste of time buying a £100 plus device with VERY expensive memory card for 99% indie and JRPG's, with the latter not interesting me. I much more prefer my 3DS.
Thank the heavens I love God Eater.
@WARDIE I never ever use mine either, but I'm holding onto it, just in case something does come I really want in the future.
God eater, will totally get it for ps4, and release windows yet?
Japan has really come on strong this gen compared to last. Loved God Eater Burst on my psp. Will definitely get this. My Vita getting quite the workout.
In other news, multiple reports of Vita clawing it's way out of the earth from 6 feet under, and is apparently strutting around town.
This resurgence in the Vita lineup is perplexing, but I'm not complaining!
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel pt 1
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel pt 2
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs
God Eater Resurrection
God Eater Rage Burst 2
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth
It's shocking...
@JaxonH Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 has been announced for localization? Haven't heard it, great news. Now only trails TC remains...
As for God Eater I loved the first game on PSP! Will definitely keep an eye for the new games!!
@NomNom amen cant wait for this
Need a demo.
@JaxonH
I guess the benefit to Vita being as powerful as it is for a handheld is it can handle these lower budget games, so there's still life left in it. Looks like it's time to track down a 64 gig mem card since I like to buy digitally on Vita.
@Gamer83
It's a must have. Even buying physical at every opportunity, I still filled my 64gb. Well, 4gb left. And I only buy digital if there's no physical release.
@JaxonH
Where did you get the 64 gig mem card from? Is Amazon the best option?
@Gamer83
PlayAsia website. $79.99 I think
Looks like there going to be a few good games in 2016 for the ps vita.
@Gamer83
Depending on where you're from Nippon Yasan might be better than Play Asia because they always put a price of about $10 on their packages; so no import fees
And about what you said in your first post: couldn't agree more! This is exactly why Sony in the end is the only viable choice. Some of these smaller budget niche titles have ended up to be my most beloved games over the years and some of them even ended up as fan favorites. I always support localizations, even if they aren't brought here physically. I know that's hard for some people, but if we all import our games, localizations will happen far fewer simply because they don't sell. Instead we should buy those localized games and make ourselves heard so that one day we'll get faster localization and maybe physical releases if they still exist then
@Boerewors @JaxonH
Thanks to both of you for the advice, I'll look into this. It'd be really nice if I could do this without having to spend more than $65 but that's probably wishful thinking.
I might give this a try if Toukiden 2 doesn't release next year.
