We'll be the first to admit that this isn't a huge slice of news - especially when it originates from a series of BioWare employee tweets - but it would appear that Mass Effect: Andromeda is now playable, at least to some degree. In other words, the game's development cycle is supposedly going smoothly.
"Just finished playing the first hour of Mass Effect: Andromeda," lead producer Cameron Lee stated on Twitter. When asked about what he experienced, Lee confirmed that it "was fun" and that he "got to shoot things in the face". We're glad that's cleared up, then.
In any case, this cheeky little social media tease probably means that it won't be too long until we finally get to see the sci-fi sequel in action. Are you hyped to see some gameplay for the first time? Strap on your N7 armour and take some cover in the comments section below.

I'm one of the few that didn't really get why this series was so hyped.
I mean it was ok but couldn't see what made it so special according to the gaming press. In fact I didn't even finish the second one out of boredom!
I know I'm in the minority there though.
@Dodoo I finished both 2 and 3 and enjoyed them, but I'm with you - they're not as good as the hype suggests. Don't let @ShogunRok hear you, though.
@get2sammyb *Hides *
@get2sammyb blasphemy I say! Mass effect trilogy is probably second to elder scrolls in my most recent gaming memory for best series. I must see gameplay soon. Preferably later today would be nice.
Mass affect 2 was probably my fav game in the series. 3 was okish . Missed the first one due to copyright . Got a hold of it after I completed the third one but the game play isn't as refined so nor easy to get into this . Looking forward to starting over in a new universe
Could stil make it. Fallout made its E3 reveal followed by same year launch, so...
Mass Effect is one of the few games where I really care what happens to my charcters and one of the few games I have played and completed more than once. I really do not need to see any gameplay or trailers of the new game as I will buy it anyway. Also Mass Effect 3 has my favourite DLC nothing else has even come close to Citadel.
Lee confirmed that it "was fun" and that he "got to shoot things in the face".
Not really what mass effect was meant to be originally. EA are gonna screw this up big time.
I can't wait to "Hold the line!"
I loved the trilogy and looking forward to see what direction the story takes in Mass Effect:Andromeda. Its difficult to get to excited by this yet as I have no idea if it will be a departure from the things I loved from the trilogy or take those things to the next level. Obviously I will miss Shepherd but if I can create a new Commander to take their place and has everything I expect from a Mass Effect game, then this is going to be very high on my wanted list.
@themcnoisy Mass Effect wasn't supposed to be fun?
(I'm just messing, I know what you mean)
This is for sure top 3 for me on the most wanted. No Mans Sky, Mass Effect, and PSVR.
My favorite trilogy all time, I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and I love Japanese games, but c'mon, almost nothing can beat the emotional impact and awesome gameplay from Mass Effect!
It's really depressing that the first thing he can think to say about their alleged RPG is that he got to "shoot things in the face". It reminds me of the last gen mentality of aiming at American Xbox owners by trying to turn games like Ace Combat into gritty CoD-alikes. I imagine him typing that while swigging Mountain Dew and chomping some Doritos.
ME trilogy was amazing - period
I cant imagine loving it anywhere near as much if i didnt play the first one though, so i can understand why ppl who played 2 and 3 only were maybe a little underwhelmed
Unless this is a Fallout type showing (here's the first gameplay, it's out in four months) I'm still worried whether it's gonna make 2016. If it is though, this is gonna be another crazy year, combined with Horizon, FFXV, Mirror's edge etc. 2015 pt2
@BigDaddyT0101 Really, you put Elder Scrolls up there with Mass Effect? I'd say the only series that comes close to Mass Effect would be Suikoden Series (pre-handheld on PS1/PS2)
@Napakane for those that played 2 or 3 before 1, they will really hate one (because of the gameplay, not the story) I started off on 1 and loved it, but after playing 2 then replaying 1 and 2 and 3, I'd say 1 is probably my least favorite just because of the controls aspect of it.. other then the Mako which i loved driving around in, lol
@MastStickBoy I personally do because of how much elder scrolls means to me. I will never forget when my stepfather introduced me to daggerfall, and ever since then I have been so wrapped up in it it's not funny. The soundtracks, the worlds, everything just speaks to me. Its the only series that I've ever gotten hopelessly wrapped up in the lore, and that includes any medium. For some people it's star wars, halo, ff, Harry potter or game of thrones, for me it's elder scrolls. Just for some reason how I am. They could re release elder scrolls on ps4 or mass effect trilogy, and there's a 99% chance for the rest of the year I would play nothing else but those even though I also have them on pc. Just how I'm wired I guess.
If Cameron Lee had said that he didn't have to shoot anybody in the face in the first hour he played then I'd feel more optimistic.
@MastStickBoy The first Mass Effect will always remain my fave. I know the controls were awkward compared to the sequels but it introduced you to the lore, races and characters of the ME universe so I'll always look at it fondly. Plus, Singularity was stupidly overpowered
Adored the Mass Effect series. Despite the ending it remains one of my favourite game series ever, but I won't feel hyped for Andromeda until I see it properly. Personally I wish they had a better range of endings to the original trilogy and just left it there for good - I'm just not sure another game is justified. We'll see though I guess, but I'd be amazed if it was out this year.
I'm still pissed off we get every shovelware remaster imaginable, but still have yet to see a Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster, an Arkham Trilogy Remaster, a Final Fantasy 13 Trilogy Remaster, or a Dragon Age Collection Remaster.
It's like COME. THE FREAK. ON.
@MastStickBoy I also disliked the first the most.......but it sets the story up and when you start 2 having finished 1, it is awesome. When I realised that was Garrus?? Amazing moment, like many others that wouldnt have existed if I started on ME 2
@JaxonH Same here, though I'm more outraged at there being no Dead Space Trilogy remaster.
