Expect aliens, dialogue wheels, and interspecies bonking fairly soon, as Mass Effect Andromeda is travelling at the speed of light to a PlayStation 4 near you. EA has confirmed as part of its dreadfully dull investor's meeting that the space-based role-playing game is just one mass relay away from entering your machine – or, to put that in human terms, it will definitely release between April 2016 and March 2017. Well, unless it gets delayed, of course.
But we don't want to even entertain that possibility, because we're ready to track down some intergalactic lost property while the Reapers gobble up the globe all over again. Bizarrely, developer BioWare has spent more time teasing this title on Twitter than it has actually, y'know, showing us it. In fact, editor Robert Ramsey is so aggrieved by this that he's dismantled his Liara doll and stopped trying to impersonate Garrus.
That's a sure sign that the Canadian company's got some serious fan smooching to do at E3… Er, we mean EA Play.

They also said a new Titanfall is coming as well, either way I really hope Andromeda proves to be a promising title.
So April 2017 onwards, then.
We hardly know anything about the game so my guess would be if we're lucky we get a lot of info this summer and a fall release at the earliest. But no matter when it comes out I just hope Bioware doesn't screw this up. It's a bit concerning that it was announced quite a while ago and we still know nothing.
But I want it now...
If we get a big chunk of gameplay either relatively soon or during EA's recently announced PSX-style thing, followed by more and more info as the year goes on, I'll believe that it's coming in 2016.
If not, it's definitely next year.
Between April 2016 and March 2017!?!?! How is that soon. March 2017 is not soon. That's not even worth reporting.
Watch the language - Robert
Cool. Since I'm playing through the trilogy right now and loving it, I'm gonna have to keep not one, but two eyes on it.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
I could do without the years of hype as well. Honestly, my anticipation for Uncharted 4 has dropped completely after all the delays, and I'm expecting another one before April. It'll be a day one buy sure, and it'll likely be a great game but the delays have been extremely annoying. Bethesda did it right, others should take note.
Bioware, take your time, make it perfect, and release a mass effect collection. I for one will not complain if we get that and andromeda comes out in 2017.
definitive must buy - Mass Effect is one of my favourite series of all time
Oh and Id definitely love a HD Collection of the first three titles (its about time isnt it)
I'm worried for mass effect, if it plays like the latest dragon age then I'm really not interested - and there's a huge suspicion that it will.
I do not want a crash landing. I am not worried for the game yes it will be weird without Shepard but I can only mourn him for so long.
They know what they are doing and they produce the best DLC I have played. This is the game I am most excited for this year or now early next year
@themcnoisy In fairness simply being in space with a scifi soundtrack will make it 100 times better than DAI as far as I'm concerned
@dryrain: you mean 'her'.
2017 it is then. If it was coming out this year, EA would have said so for sure.
Damn it.
@BlaBlaBla Fellow FemShep fan here!
Always expected this early 2017...still very nervous about it though. Loved the original trilogy, especially ME2. But I just find it so hard to believe that BioWare are capable of producing a game like that anymore. Hoping it's just my inner cynic being a bit paranoid!
Never played as fem sheppard maybe I should try on my next play through.
You really should.
Not only is the voice actress superior, but most importantly....with those tight suits they are wearing, I really prefer looking at a female wiggling butt.
@get2sammyb Has there been any hints or confirmation on a Mass Effect collection remastered, like the uncharted collection? I never played these on the PS3, much to my brothers annoyance lol. He loves the series and has convinced me to at least give it a go. Having traded in my PS3 though means a remaster is much needed.
Loved the Trilogy (despite that ending) and Andromeda is certainly on my wanted list!
@blakey78 Lots of rumours, but nothing confirmed yet.
@BlaBlaBla yes, a male Shepard doesn't even exist for me.
@themcnoisy Me too.
A winter 2016 release would be nice.
BTW, why no love for "really" upcoming games like DL The Following or Dark Souls 3? I never see updates about these games here. For example, yesterday Bandai Namco published new screenshots and artwork whileTechland publish new videos every week...
Does this mean @ShogunRok can calm down?
@Grimwood
There's been several delays. It's at the point where I'm tired of seeing news about the game and just want to play it already. Sorry I don't view things the same way you do. I'll try harder to tailor my thoughts and opinions in the future to match yours.
@DerMeister NEVER!
Give me a remaster of the trilogy and I'll think about it.
@consolfreak1982 It's definitely one of my favorite series as well. A remastered collection on new Gen would be pretty sweet honestly. I was thinking about replaying them on my PS3 soon.
Even though we don't really know a whole lot about it I'm still pretty excited. Mass Effect has always been a huge favorite of mine.
@ShogunRok That's a fair point. I'd like to see it as well.
I enjoyed mass effect 1, I really enjoyed mass effect 2, and I found mass effect 3 to be boring, not sure what sort of talent is left at bioware these days but I hope they contract drew stupidlastname to help not mess up all the universe/lore building they did in past titles because that's what enthralled me.
