Valkyria Chronicles Remastered's new trailer proves to be a great way to remind yourself just how pretty the original's art style is. Showcasing some PlayStation 4 gameplay, the latest video features a fair share of headshots, and explains the flow of battle.
Those who played the PlayStation 3 title will already know how combat unfolds and how it incorporates both tactical planning and action-based movement, but newcomers may learn a thing or two from the trailer. The game's now got a confirmed release date of the 17th May.

Is it May 17th for Europe? I am picking this up for sure as it is one of my favourite games ever but kinda unfortunate release date just days away from Fire Emblem Fates >_< It will be a tactics heavy month I guess.
I'm really excited for this game as well (I especially wanna try the DLCs since i didn't buy them back then) but UC4 is coming out a week before it. :/
This is the first Sega game I would brought in years and one of the more exciting remasters
As a HUGE Fire Emblem fan, I'm always on the lookout for quality SRPG's. It's a genre that sucks when done poorly but trumps all when done right.
I really enjoyed Code Name STEAM on 3DS (same devs as Fire Emblem) which was supposedly in the vein on Valkyria Chronicles. So I had my bro buy Valkyria Chronicles 2 on his PS3 and run into my Vita. And I love it
So now I'm absolutely stoked! There aren't many good SRPG's in the world. Aside from the aforementioned Fire Emblem and Code Name STEAM, along with Stella Glow, Jeanne d'Arc and Valkyria Chronicles, I'm not sure there's any SRPG's really worth playing. Final Fantasy Tactics bored me and I haven't played much of Tactics Ogre despite owning it on Vita.
Well, I suppose X-COM 2 would have been a gem release. Too bad it's PC exclusive and I'll never get to try it (the ONE platform I don't game on... grrrrh)
Is there any reason to buy this if you have the original?
Just got Twilight Princess and while its got very little new, the graphical upgrade is really worth it. Unfortunately I don't see Valkyria Chronicles as more of a re-release than a remaster.
Its a brilliant game though, one of my favorites, so the obsessive collector in me kind of wants it anyway.
I want to preorder but i cant anywhere in netherlands.
@Flaming_Kaiser Release date was just announced, wait another day or two.
Cannot wait! I loved this game on the PS3, I only got half way, so this time I WILL COMPLETE! Azure Revolution just looks poor compared to this!
May is packed. I'm excited for this one, didn't play the PS3 version.
@JaxonH and the first one is even better than the Psp sequel(s). Great game (and this comes from another Fire Emblem fan).
@chiptoon You're definitely right about this being a re-release. It adds a few features though, like trophy support (if you care for this kind of things) and all the original DLCs on disc. Also the cut-scenes have been re-rendered for Ps4 and are less blurry than the PS3 and PC versions. Minor things, but I'll support the release since I am a super-fan, and it comes out as a budget title.
@Feena Thanks for the info! I'm also a super-fan. Valkyria Chronicles is probably my favorite PS3 game. So tempted to also grab it, but I seem to be playing an awful lot of remasters!
