As a British site, we always find it extra sad when UK studios close their doors – especially if they have a long and storied lineage like Studio Liverpool or Bizarre Creations. The closure of Lionhead this week, then, proved particularly depressing news – even more so seeing as the Guildford-based outfit was presumably close to completing free-to-play spin-off Fable Legends.
But while the loss of a seasoned developer is always sad, thoughts must be spared for those who suddenly find themselves out of work. And fortunately, Sony is moving to relocate those axed Lionhead employees, announcing a recruitment event to be held in Guildford on Monday. "There'll be people there from all of our SCEE studios if you'd like to a book a time for a chat on the day," it wrote on Twitter.
The PlayStation maker has a particularly large footprint in the UK, with the likes of London Studio, Media Molecule, Guerrilla Cambridge, Evolution Studios, XDev Europe, and the all-new North West Studio hiring regularly. Hopefully many of those let go earlier in the week find gainful employment within the PlayStation family soon – or at least secure work elsewhere.

Can't let all that talent go to waste.
@WickedKnightAl
Well put. But I wish the would get some of the Liverpool studio back together. Vr and wipeout are a match made in rave heaven.
I genuinely believe has some of the finest and most talented developers in the industry, if Sony can recruit some of them into their studios then it will hopefully ensure that their skills aren't wasted.
"Bizarre Creations"
A pox on all of you who did not purchase Blur.
I have found it absolutely disgusting reading the comments about this closure and Sonys ensuing job fair on other gaming sites. Many are claiming that Sony has no interest in hiring anyone and has done all this as some twisted way of drumming up good PR amongst fans and devs. That type of thinking is appalling, and I wonder if these same folks who are chastising Sony for this job fair would feel the same way if they were laid off and then offered another opportunity from a compeititor? These people have families to support and Sony should be commended for trying to help some of them secure employment in the field they love. It's this type of fan boy behavior and thinking that ruins gaming.
What about PressPlay?
