If the announcement of PlayStation VR's price had competing virtual reality manufacturers on the ropes, then confirmation that Sony's teamed up with EA Games and Lucasfilm on an exclusive Star Wars Battlefront experience may as well be the knock-out blow. It's unclear exactly what guise this game will take, but DICE is on development duties – and it's safe to assume that it'll be a watered down title based upon last year's hit first-person shooter.
The platform holder promised that more details will be revealed throughout the year, but it presented it as proof that AAA content will be created for the headset. The platform holder's saying that 50 games will be available within the headset's launch window, and that a further 230 developers are actively working on content for the device.

I always wondered at what Sony was getting out of the Star Wars deal because it never got an exclusive content and such. Now we know, doesn't matter how good or bad it is Sony can say "PS VR with Star Wars"!! It's a AD man's dream.
Awesome i love last year's battlefront so hopefully this one is similar
@SKC_Diamond
Honestly I wouldn't expect the game ported to PSVR, that is quite frankly impossible. VR the first years will be a neat little extra, something to enhance the gaming experience and a huge screen to play on, but it won't let you play a shooter as complex as Battlefront in VR; we're simply not there yet technically.
I think it'll be something like Vive is getting, Tatooine or Endor recreated for VR for us to explore. There'll be some small interactive sequences probably, unfortunately we'll see those shoehorned into every VR experience the first year or so, but nothing like the full game. Still, if they're creative and just accept the fact the technology isn't as far as we want it to be, it could really add to the experience or be a awesome new chapter on its own.
@Boerewors that is true but even then that would be awesome. Though looking at rigs that seems pretty complex for a vr game
@Boerewors It's mainly the PS4 that isn't upto the job. Although games like Rigs certainly prove that traditional shooters can and do work.

As long as your seated you'll be fine, which immediately makes me realize there is a good chance it'll be a VR take on the Squadron Fighter bit. How awesome would that be?? Or how about operating an AT-AT?? You could probably even build that into the regular multiplayer, where the VR people man the vehicles and the paupers have to travel on foot
@seanobi Exactly. The way House announced it made it sound like they know it's a big deal - I just hope it delivers on its potential.
It is their killer App, and they had to have one. It has the name recognition and is seemingly a perfect fit for vr. I know that we all wanted NMS vr functionality, but this will probably sell more units and will definitely bring about more brand recognition. VR seems perfect for cockpit style gaming.
@Boerewors Actually that sounds pretty good! Never really thought of it like that. Sign me up
I'd love a star wars racing game. I played the one for N64 as a kid. One of my fondest memories on that console.
If they have space battles for this then I'm 100% in.
I expect this will have some similarities to Kinect Star Wars. I can see you having lightsabre duels (using Move - similar to Golem) combined with maybe a FPS section and maybe some vehicle sections too - pod racing and/or space battles. I doubt you will have the infamous 'dancing' but I do expect it to be a mish-mash of different things wrapped up in a 'star wars' skin.
