When Capcom announced that Street Fighter V's first big update would arrive in March - adding some much needed content to the game - we probably would have put money on it being out by now, but what the publisher really meant was that it'd be out right at the end of month, and that it'd be split into two parts. We're glad that's all cleared up, then.
Snark aside, the highly anticipated patch is finally incoming. The first half of it will go live next week on the 28th March, and it'll include the new challenge mode as well as a rematch option for ranked and casual online duels. Battle lounge improvements will also be implemented, allowing for up to eight players to gather in a single lobby. Finally.
Then, on the 30th March, the second half of the update will be rolled out. Alex will become available to unlock, and the in-game shop will be open for business. However, the shop won't support real money purchases at launch, and no release window for such functionality has been given. Can't win 'em all, we suppose.
And finally, Capcom's going to be giving away both Ryu and Chun Li's story costumes for free when the shop launches - so make sure that you grab them as soon as you can.
So, it looks like Street Fighter V's finally going to fleshed out in just a few days time, but do you think that this is enough? Start waiting for the next, next update in the comments section below.

Give us 500,000 Fight Money and we'll call it even, Capcom.
lol at the update being on two separate days and the fact that it will not even open the store proper (which just shows you this was really a beta!!!)
Any idea exactly how much Fight Money to unlock a character yet?
Can't wait to finally play as Alex at last. It's worth mentioning that Alex and all future DLC characters before the Zenny currency comes in are available on a free trial period as well.
@daveyboyps101 100.000 mate. Story outfits cost 40.000
I still want an arcade mode. Or as I prefer to call it, Street Fighter.
@AhabSpampurse
Woah buddy, you can't be a wannabe pro unless you play online, and online only.
I really want that rematch button badly! And excited about the challenges
@Bliquid I'm not entirely sure that @sub12 was being negative towards me. Tbh I kinda read the comment as sarcasm, which made me chuckle.
@AhabSpampurse
It was sarcasm, but bliquid loves himself some Street Fighter, so he got pissed....
I don't think it would be enough, since I think challenges are the only real addition that's "needed" in terms of modes. Still, it's better than nothing. A bit of a slow burn, if anything.
Obviously, Alex is the highlight of this package. Good to see another character.
Give me an arcade mode that I can complete with all my favorite characters on various difficulty settings! Is that really too much to ask for?
@sub12 thought so, I've seen you comment before and you've seemed like a good egg! <man hugs>
@EveryoneWhiningAboutArcadeMode.... It is coming. Arcade mode is coming, be patient....
Pretty hype for some POWABOMBUH!
Negative. Not nearly enough.
Vs CPU
Arcade Mode
Full Story Mode
Need all the above. And this here brings none of the above.
@Bliquid @AhabSpampurse
Awww thanks! Although Bliquid is Italian I believe, so he may have not have understood the sarcasm.......I can also be a dick at times, so fair enough.
I won't be interested intill they add more single player content.
@adf86 100,000? That's cool, means that I have enough Fight Money for two new characters currently. Hopefully, the Daily Challenges won't be too difficult so I can earn another 400k.
Played this game religiously for 2 weeks, than forced myself another week not to give up on it, but now I just can't play anymore tbh... The game is so freaking good, but I can't seem to care 2 efs. I played IV through all its iterations and even stuck to it while it launched in a horrible state last year on the PS4, but now the "SF feeling" just seems gone somehow.
When I played Street Fighter V earlier this week I kept on thinking how I wanted to play Killer Instinct instead, which I ultimately did. I really like that game and just poured another $40 in for a new season with a smile on my face. That could've been SFV, where I pay $40 every year to own all content but where I know every gets to play it if they just bother to download it because it's free. You can play this game on a pro level without investing or just paying $1 in a sale. When I compare both games on a technical level both are extremely fine tuned, but SFV is definitely the better fighter in my book, but because of the different "earnings models" both chose I prefer to play KI instead. With SFV there is just too much insecurity about what's coming, but I do know they made us pay too much upfront.
@JaxonH
It's just crazy that a fighting game, and the premier one of all series did this. There are the people who will defend anything Sony or Sony exclusive making excuses for this crap which doesn't surprise me, but it's hilarious. Killer Instinct was mocked for being free-to-play but it offered more content out of the gate than a full retail game. And I don't care if Capcom 'told us up front' which is the other excuse people love to use. Like if somebody rapes somebody else it's ok if they said ahead of time that's what they're going to do.
There's no denying the quality of the mechanics in SF V but that's why this game continues to be massive disappointment. Fun to play but literally f**k all to do if you want to play single player.
Nice little update, it's a start but of course it will need more. I want that DLC outfit for Chun Li, and no... I'm not talking about her cop uniform.
I'm sure the game will end up being brilliant, even though it launched lacking a decent array of modes and options. It was out a little too early.
@Bliquid
No problem buddy! Have a good Friday in Italy!
@WanderingBullet Yeah I nearly have 300.000 FM now so I'm looking good for getting at least 3 of the fighters already. Alex will also have his own little story mode too so that should be another 8k FM as well.
@gamer83 "rape" is hardly an appropriate analogy for video games !!. You say that the same people are always defending Sony but equally the same people are always bashing Sony too yet you don't complain about that. Although what Street Fighter V's issues have got to do with Sony I don't know. Any criticism should be at Capcom.
I wish I could find an online match
I have literally tried for hours to no avail. So I hope the Challenge Mode is meaty and Alex is still awesome.
@adf86
It's a PlayStation exclusive. If this were an Xbox, or even Wii U, exclusive released the same exact way people who are defending it would be slamming it, that's what I was saying. In this case isn't was so much about Sony itself just that Capcom and this game are receiving a pass because of the chosen platform.
@SanderEvers Except "rape" is an incredibly violent, personal and invasive crime upon an individual that I feel should NEVER be trivialized. Street fighter V on the other hand is just a video game. And a bloody good one too, if you seriously think the game is a 0/10 with no effort made in it then go and look at nearly every game on Steam early access, that's where you find the REAL crooks.
@adf86 Thats a good point about the Story Mode 8k FM.
