Arguably the greatest game in the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare, is getting all ghillied up for the PlayStation 4, a leaked Target pre-order card has revealed. The image – which was posted on Reddit before promptly being deleted – shows the first key art for sequel Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which will release on 4th November for Sony's new-gen system.
However, the hot news here is that those who purchase the new game's Legacy Edition will get Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered as a bonus, which is nice. This still remains the pinnacle of the property for us: the boat mission, the sniper section, the nuclear bomb! Expect Activision to officially unveil everything any moment now.
Would you play through Modern Warfare again on the PS4? Which is your favourite entry in the franchise so far? Aim down the sights in the comments section below.
Update (23:45PM BST): An Amazon leak suggests the whole Modern Warfare trilogy may be coming to the PS4.

I'm on board for that. I loved that game. First FPS I played on my PS3.
@stevie85 Yup, same. I didn't get Resistance until way later so CoD 4 was the first FPS I got for my PS3. It absolutely blew me away and was one of my favourite of the generation.
Will buy for the campaign.
LOL, wow. I loved MW 1 but really? I have to wonder how much of it is because Activision (rightly) has zero confidence in Infinity Ward after Ghosts? This might ease the blow if Infinite Warfare sucks.
If the new cod is going all sci fi as the rumours suggest, I've got zero interest in it. But I would buy it for modern warfare as that is such a great game. Surely though if they have remastered this, there must be a trilogy on the way. Would it have MP though or would it just be the campaign?
Damn right I will... Best cod in the series in my book. Not sure if I want to buy this "legacy edition" tho...
I should stress that I'd expect Modern Warfare Remastered to be available standalone from the PlayStation Store as well.
Modern Warfare was probably the last Cod where the campaign was the focus with mp being an added extra before it became the other way round. Although Black ops 3 restored the balance somewhat, I'd be tempted to play this again. Though with the launch of VR and hopefully Horizon, Persona 5 etc I doubt I'll have time
CoD4 was a great game in its day. It was revolutionary at the time too. The campaign was certainly great and the whole game changed the gaming landscape.
The MP was a breath of fresh air too. Compared to what had come before it, this changed everything. It wasn't without its faults, things we wouldn't accept from a CoD game today but because it was 'new' we accepted these far easier. Some perks for example were 'crutch' perks (Stopping power!) - every class basically had to have these equipped and there was of course more 'balancing' issues than modern CoD's - the M16 for example was a 'beast'. What I find 'funny' is that people complain about map size, yet CoD4 (as well as future games) had some massive maps - Maps like Bloc, Overgrown, Ambush, Bog, Crossfire, Pipeline etc - It also had one of the smallest in Shipment but overall the majority were on the large size - even its DLC pack had large maps in general (Creek, Broadcast and Chinatown with Killhouse being the only 'small' map.
Like I said, at the time this was fantastic and because we didn't have anything quite like it or know 'differently' this was rightly the best FPS game of that era. Most of the issues that plagued that game though have been resolved over time. Crutch perks have effectively been removed or tweaked to provide more variety, Weapons are better balanced, there is more freedom to set up your class which leads to more variety overall.
I would still consider buying a new remastered version - even though I still have the original on my PS3 and XB360. It would be interesting to see how many of the CoD community complain about the MP, the Map sizes and things they complain about 'modern' games that were very much present in this. Of course IW could have 'fixed' some of those for this version.
@get2sammyb You already have COD 4 for PS4????? lucky boy
eheh
I preferred MW2 but its good an early COD is getting a remaster
COD 4 was the best Call Of Duty game ever. Some people will say MW2 which was good also but not like COD 4. Sure MW2 had more killstreaks but COD 4 was easy and the map selection was awesome. If COD 4 remastered was £100 on PS4 I would happily pay that without hesitation.
Always thought they should release a current gen cod multiplayer megamix with the best levels from each game. Had them all on PS3 but liked World at War's levels the best. This is welcome news regardless.
@AFCC Haha! Whoops! Edited.
@Bigk2016
MW 2 for multiplayer, but I thought MW 1's campaign blew away the campaign in both MW 2 and 3. And since the multiplayer was also well done, the original was the best all-around package. If only one of the Modern Warfare games will be remastered, they're definitely making the right choice with the first one.
I'm not a fan of FPS games but I liked Modern Warfare's campaign. The All Ghillied Up mission was brilliant!
So now we will have the yearly COD and the yearly remastered COD?
As with any remaster that is not Shenmue, I will pass.
It was a game changer back then. I'd love a remastered Cpt Price.
Hmmm now I just might have to pick this one up. I never played it back then but I hear the MW series is really good.
If its just a HD Remaster ill totally get it. But if its a complete remake and they add in all the complete from newer cods i will not be near it.
Hope its just a remaster, Cod4 is easily my favourite MP game. SP is great as well. No other Cod has come close to it for me
@SuperSilverBack Please watch the language -Tasuki-
Whoops thought that said cod trilogy
Huh, I wonder if Infinite will be in the same universe as Modern Warfare, since they're not continuing with the Ghosts storyline? Hmm...either way, I know I'll be buying this for the remastered CoD4! Some people are saying that since it's only "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered," this could actually include the whole trilogy, but I doubt it. As long as we're talking about the original campaign and (hopefully) multiplayer, I'm so in.
I'm down for that! My favorite CoD of all time. Great single player and atmosphere
tbh if infinity isn't going past or present then ill just play MW 1 one of the only cod game I like
@get2sammyb MW trilogy leaked on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dvideogames&field-keywords=call+of+duty+modern+warfare+trilogy&rh=n%3A300703%2Ck%3Acall+of+duty+modern+warfare+trilogy
I doubt it will be the full trilogy. The only way that would happen is if they just did the campaign - I think anyway. The logo is definitely the first and not 2 or 3's and it states game not games too.
From a MP perspective, the original lacks a lot of the refinement - not just the bells and whistles - of later CoD's and I guess for many that much more simplistic approach suited them better. Personally I find the MP slow and frustrating now and if you want to use a variety of weapons and perks, prepare to die - a lot! If you haven't played it, just equip an M16, Stopping Power, Bandolier (or extra Claymores), and Steady Aim and you are virtually unstoppable
I'm excited for the MW remastered if it has the online play... not so much for the solo, rarely do I like FPS for there storys but MW did have a great one but the multiplayer is my main draw.
It would be the only reason for me to get this new cod.
I hope it's not singleplayer only even for €30 i wont get it.
I thought the Modern Warfare series always had the best campaigns and the most pulse-pounding setpieces. The ending of Modern Warfare 2 is still my favorite in Call of Duty history. Was kind of hoping they would put out a remaster of the whole trilogy, not just CoD4.
OMG don't let this be true. I've been doing so well at the gym.
This is the best shooter ever, right up there with Battlefield Bad Company 2.
I'd be going to work and gaming right after.
