Ah, June – one of those months where its first day happens to be a Wednesday. This means that we're not entirely sure whether the latest PlayStation Plus update will be announced later this week or next week, but you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be pestering disgruntled PlayStation employees trying to find out.
Whatever the case, there's no harm in us discussing which Instant Game Collection freebies we'd like next month. Upcoming new releases include Oxenfree and Dangerous Golf – both of which could join the lineup depending on when Sony decides to refresh the PlayStation Plus selection. Alternatively, the manufacturer may dip into its archives – Knack, anyone?
It's a really difficult one to predict this time out, but no doubt you'll once again be clamouring for meatier experiences. We really think that the platform holder needs to consider ditching the PlayStation 3 and Vita now, and that may be something that it's looking at as we head into E3 2016 next month. What do you think? Discuss things calmly in the comments section below.

What I want, not what I think we will get.
PS4: Deception IV, Disgaea
Vita: Bordelands2, Ys
I don't think we will get dnagerous golf since it is up for pre order.
My backlog of games is getting completely out of hand now, so what I would really like is something short. A couple of short but fun games would suit me down to the ground.
@JoeBlogs This would be a great selection. I'd also love Enter the Gungeon.
I'd also take Volume, been curious to play it since it launched.
What about free PS Now service for one month?
(I still think, PS Now should be inculded in PS Plus)
Great opportunity for imminent service start in Europe.
Yeah I have feeling once we hit 2017 the IGC will become PS4 only
"We really think that the platform holder needs to consider ditching the PlayStation 3 and Vita now" - why? surely that reduces the already questioned (not by me, but by many) value for money of PS Plus. Unless you also mean they include more PS4 games or something similar, otherwise that is a very bizarre statement.
@JoeBlogs @Quintumply Haha Salt and Sanctuary and Enter the Gungeon JUST came out.
Invisible Inc, Journey, Bloodborne...
Past experience has told me that I am likely to be 'disappointed' IF I want something other than 'yet another indie'. I know that not all indies are created 'equal' but 95%+ have no appeal. I would rather play my 'backlog' or even replay some AAA games than clog up my limited HDD space with something that I may play for 30mins or so.
I know that others enjoy these games but I am just expressing 'my' opinion.
I therefore don't expect that June will have any PS+ IGC games that I have any interest in downloading. If it does though, I will be pleasantly surprised!
@fybyfyby been saying for ages they should remove the ps3 games and give out 2 free 30 days rentals for plus instead
@DominicanGlory It wasn't a prediction. Just what I'd like.
Persona 5 and Final Fantasy 15 would be good. Or No Man's Sky.
uncharted 4, doom. or home front the revolution
hahahaha
honestly id rather have an idindi game & a couple of movie rentals
People have paid for ps plus that specifically bought it for ps3 and or vita, some subs may run for several years ahead. They'd need to provide notice and refunds if they were to cut the IGC for either.
@Bliquid I would care if it was Charlize Theron! lol
@BAMozzy do you ever give these games that have no appeal a shot? It seems you regularly overlook really good games. I'm not saying you'll like all of them you should branch out more!
There isn't much I want from plus at the moment.. Max Payne 1 would be nice but it's not likely. Gunna wait til that's on sale.
Resi 6 could be a laugh, too.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I doubt they do. I have never read the EULA for plus, but we have seen changes to it over the past few years making it less desirable than it was without anyone getting a refund. For instance we used to have a collection of games when we subscribed that were on the service for a year before being cycled to give new subscribers a larger starting catalogue and entice them to join. I remember Sony saying they were going to update the list, then answering questions with 'there will be a post about this service soon' and finally just ignoring questions about those games and removing them from the service without explanation.
At some point PS3 will leave plus, when the profit margins get too low to support it I expect Sony to drop plus for the console quickly - I would guess they could easily argue that they don't need to refund anyone as they'd lose access to their previously obtained titles, so they are still providing a service. I hope the Vita takes longer to be axed (I know a few people who have picked one up just because they have a load of plus games they can now play on it), plus is actually a decent bonus for a handheld imo.
@JoeBlogs
Likely because there aren't enough indie devs willing to potentially devalue their product with PS+.
I do not mind what games we get on PS Plus there are always one which I enjoy playing. But lately not had the time to play any of them. I would not mind if they stopped the games completely. I am really paying so I can play online.
@Kyroki Grim Fandango is excellent! Definitely worth a play.
@JoeBlogs a new game being offered on Plus is different from a recently released game being offered because there would be backlash from the people that bought it. There should be at least a 4-5 month period
@Neolit The problem with PS Now is that even with a blisteringly-fast connection, it can be unreliable so for a lot of users it wouldn't be a good thing.
I missed Diablo III on sale, so I wouldn't turn my nose up to that for PS4, but don't want to pay £60.
@JoeBlogs I think 'recently released' is more dangerous territory. By having Brand New, it doesn't upset anyone. Recently released though upsets all those who took the plunge and bought it. I think there is a 'minimum' time after release before it should be offered free.
@kyleforrester87 I have given many a try over the years - not just PS+ games as I have only had that for 15-16months (didn't see the point on PS3), but also with the 'Arcade' games on Xbox. I know what I like/enjoy and what I want from a game. Even 'highly rated' games like Limbo, Child of Light etc bore me after an hour or so. I have downloaded Gauntlet, Lara Croft, Oddworld, Valiant Hearts etc and I can count the hours played on these on my hands. After 35+yrs gaming, I tend to know what I am looking for. I don't really enjoy 2D platformers, tower defence or shallow 'clear the level and move on to the next and repeat' games either - not anymore! Its not like I see the name or that it is an 'indie' and just dismiss either - I look up the game, look at reviews, look at the game-play and what that offers and make my decision based on that. I know that even a game like Alienation, despite how good it maybe, how great an example of a twin stick shooter it is etc, that I am unlikely to play more than an hour. These games don't make me want to keep playing, make me want to turn on my console, make me pick them over games I have bought. I am not dismissing them because they are 'indie' but because they are not offering something I want to experience. I am equally as dismissive of the things they offer in AAA games (if they were similar) - more flashy graphics won't convince me to play either. Like I said I know that I may sound negative but its not without researching the game and I know that not 'every' indie is created equal and that a few 'gems' could be offered. Its just that 90% of them have no appeal. I can't say that every AAA game appeals either...
GTA 3, Vice City or San Andreas would be cool.
Anything is fine for me I guess! Knack would be extra cool
Why does everyone keep going on about Knack??? Was it not VERY poorly received? Id love Tentacle for PS4/Vita! Not many games left that I want and don't have!
Knack you can get it for €15 why don't you just go buy it. I bought it for €6,99 on a PSN sale. I just like the big sales so that is enough value for me.
@Dichotomy there probably is something in the small print yeah, It'll be interesting to see how it's announced because it'll happen soon probably. Maybe not this year but definitely next.
Would be awesome if you could pick a couple free movie rentals instead if you didn't like the games that month, that would go a long ways in appeasing the hordes of selfish child gamers who don't understand the value of plus. And for the love of God, please stop asking for Knack, would rather get the original pong than that.
@BAMozzy Fair enough - glad that you mentioned Valiant Hearts as that's a fantastic game that's easily overlooked. Shame really, variety is the spice of life n all that What about Diablo/Dark Souls?
@kyleforrester87 I quite enjoyed Diablo 3 - I have that on XB1 but wouldn't rank in my top 10 - Its not a game I have tried co-operatively or replayed with different characters. I don't like Dark Souls though - I have played 1 and 2 - well started both anyway. I liked the setting of Bloodbourne but because its Dark Souls-ish, I really can't see myself enjoying it.
Valiant Hearts I played the first chapter or 2 and didn't think much to the game-play or mechanics and the story didn't grab me either - nothing that made me want to finish it. I got bored and ended up playing something else - which is why I know it isn't for me. Like I said, I don't dismiss games just because they are 'indie' but I do look at the style of game-play and what they are offering - story (if any)?, MP?, objective?
I agree that Variety is the spice of life and I think that should apply to IGC too. Like I said though, after 35+yrs, I have been able to experience a wide variety of games now so that I can make more of an informed decision over what I prefer to play. I am not saying that IGC games are necessarily bad but that they don't appeal to me...
Diablo 3 great game and lots of replay value but only worth playing online with friends as there are a lot of modded weapons which make playing with randoms impossible.
Shadow Complex is the only PS4 game I want but don't own, so that's my pick.
PS now would be a fail, some of the game's were unplayable when I had 32 DL and 7.5 upload, work's fine now since I upgraded my tinternet to 52 DL and 17.5 upload (which is what my PS4 say's it get's now, kind of annoying as my router say's it recieve's much higher speed's) but I only sub'd for a month because I still didn't play it much, kinda sucked tbh. Enter the Gungeon or Wastelander's 2 (which i've nearly bought a few time's) would be nice though.
As always, indies await!
It's really getting annoying to read the "ditch the PS3 and Vita from PS+". Stop it...
Why? Just because you don't like it,or don't own the particular systems(anymore). How is me(us) getting "free" games for the PS3 and Vita a bad thing or hurts you as a consumer?
@JoeBlogs. God I would LOVE Salt and Sanctuary especially if they released the Vita version. Oxenfree too. I think its time White Night was ob Plus aswell.
Dariusburst chronicle saviors ps4 and Gran Turismo psp for the vita.
@BAMozzy fair enough - it's been the opposite for me really, the more I've gamed the more genres I've found I enjoy, even more so with the current generation as there is tons of variety, not least on PS4. Also I find that the games that are often the least interesting to watch other people play can be the most absorbing and enjoyable to play your self. A tactical RPG like Valkyria Chronicles for example looks a bit pants on a lets play video but it's been more absorbing than Uncharted 4.
Gonna say what I said Last month; Dishonored. If I keep saying it, I might be right at some stage
For a full releaseid like infamous and for a digi game id like alienation
I'll take Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3 please, and thank you.
@BAMozzy
Kinda agree with everything you've said, I'm 39 been gaming since my first pong machine, I know what I like and the ps plus games never seem to appeal to me. Having said that I've filled a 64gb vita card which is good for holidays and had fun with some of the ps3 games.
I really want infamous second son ! Sony should did that before
Every body gon to the RC is a good case too
Just i pray they dont take us another great indie game's
@pbernoos Watch the Language -Tasuki-
@gingerfrog I'm nearly 44 now so grew up playing games that in essence aren'y a great deal different from many of the IGC offerings. I don't really play on my PS3 but have a backlog of games I would much prefer to play than yet another 2D platformer, puzzle game, tower defence etc etc - in fact I still have many GWG, IGC versions of these I could play without adding more every month. Just because 1 has slightly better visuals, more contemporary twist or a different setting doesn't change the fact that the core essence isn't that different from games I feel I outgrew 20+ years ago. Most AAA games may not be 'unique' in their game-play, story etc but then neither are 'movies' but they still feel more 'unique' and the story generally adds context and reason to progress. Uncharted (for example) may not be unique in its game-play but you want to play the next chapter to see what happens next to Drake and the characters. Platforming and combat is given context and fits in with world and story.
I've had my PS+ for almost two years now and I think the only game I've played through was Infamous First Light. I just don't have any interest in most of the games.
I think Sony could use PS+ free games to take a page from Microsoft in a big way
@_get2sammyb hear me out!
PS3 has lot's of good classics that are not worth a rebuy but if they were to post some of those over as PS+ games it could be a big hit IMO and I think could boost their sales also.
Well, I most certainly hope they don't ditch ps plus for vita and ps3. I get 6 free games a month. A lot of which I'd be to afraid to spend money on to try out. Surely they'll keep it till at least when they publicly announce that they are no longer supporting the system.
I love my ps4, but the ps+ situation feels kinda like we are being taken for granted due to the success of the ps4. The same was true in reverse last gen. 360 had the lead so they didn't feel the need to provide games with gold. Now it is reversed, they have been releasing full games like sunset overdrive while we beg for knack?
Alienation! Salt and Sanctuary! Trine 3! Crickets on trine 3 ?
I would like to see firewatch and one of the games that were recently on flash sale for $5, like killzone, golf club, or my own wish I really want because I can never justify buying it is farming simulator 15. Reason for the latter is my friends and I have jokingly talked about buying it forever, just because it seems so pointless and monotonous that we probably would get way too much time out of it. For my own wants a firewatch/alienation duo would be sweet.
I'm happy enough with what we get each month just sadly never have time to play them.
I'd like a £5 voucher towards anything of my choice OR perhaps a free piece of DLC of my choosing.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Invisible Inc is unlikely but DAMN that would be sweet!
Metal Gear Peace Walker for the Vita. Seeing as we're getting PSP titles for it now we might as well get the best ones.
June should be Earth Defense Force month. EDF 4.1 for PS4, EDF 2017 for Vita, and EDF Insect Armageddon for PS3. Three different games, three greatly underappreciated titles, three action-packed winners. Boom!
I just bought hitman GO so probably hitman GO will be one, any ways gimme knack.
We will see if PS+ will be an okay line-up considering Xbox have Goat Simulator and The Crew for Xbox One, and Super Meat Boy and Xcom: Enemy Unknown for Xbox 360.. I wonder if Sony will be able to top it
Honestly, any AAA game, even if they just release one game that is free instead of two. Or, a really good FPS game, i mean, when is the last time they had a free fps? (the zombie game doesn't count)
if they cancel PSV and PS3 i will be disappointed, especially if you love the vita and recently got a ps3. i hope they don't and if they do, they give me 1-2 free PS4/3 games permanently of my choice that wont expire and make every game that was psplus on ps3 and Vita permanent as well. i'm not going out without a fight.
also Infamous Second Son and Resident evil Remaster might be up for grabs next month also heard about Watch Dogs as well. (if you have a retail and purchase the digital game will it automatically not use disc without downloading anything or do you need to reinstall (download it) to make it work, has anyone had past experiences with this)
shovel knight or Rouge Legacy would be GREAT
shovel knight or Rouge Legacy would be GREAT
I want Riiiiidge Raaaceeer.
I heard a rumbling that the PS4 titles will be NBA 2K16 and Gone Home.
But yeah, once again ABK (Anything But Knack) ;P
