It's taken months... and months... and months to actually happen, but mod support is finally coming to the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4 later this week. Patch 1.8 will launch within the next few days, and will add mod functionality to the post-apocalyptic adventure.
Players have been waiting for what seems like an age for Fallout 4 mods to make it onto Sony's console, but as is the case with the recently released Skyrim - Special Edition, support will be somewhat limited on PS4 when compared to other platforms. This is due to the deal that publisher Bethesda seems to have with the Japanese giant, which states that only mods which use assets from the game can be shared. In other words, you won't be getting any of the crazy stuff that you may have seen floating around the web, like lightsabers and completely unique costumes. A bit of a downer for sure, but we're confident that there'll still be a decent selection of mods for you to download and try over the coming weeks.
Are you happy that mod support is finally on its way? Will it tempt you to go back to Fallout 4, or have you been done with the wasteland for a while now? Modify your thoughts in the comments section below.

Just about to start this game actually. Mod suggestions welcome, if they are likely to carry over from pc.
I think the same issue will be like with Skyrim the best mods will not be available for the PS4.
How about Pro support? And by Pro support, I mean actual support
@Mega-Gazz Worth pointing out just in case you don't know: mods disable Trophies.
I'm still waiting for the GOTY version before I buy. I have the base game on PC which will keep me going.
@NathanUC I thought that it had 4k support?
@GBMatthew I didn't see anything in the patch notes (not including this one) about PS4 Pro support. It also didn't look like it was super sampled like Skyrim when I last loaded it up.
@ShogunRok bleh. That sucks. I need to increase the useless number next to my name that no one looks at!!
(Ps, they should give small loyalty discounts based on you psn trophy level )
Just started playing recently. Looking forward to the mods.
Awesome news, been loving skyrim with them been thinking about starting a new game on fallout do just in time! I also think Bethesda are gonna persuade sony to lift the restrictions some time soon...
Great news free add ons and I am happy ..
Yet to try survival mode, that's next for me hardly touched the main game 1st time round waited for Wasteland Workshop, Contraptions Workshop and Vault-Tec Workshop, so I am good to go
I originally didn't think no external assets was a big deal, but this also includes things like script extender. Which if Skyrim is any indication was required for most of the more creative mods. However I'm glad I can finally put ballistic weave on my vault suit. Especially since the base game let me put it on a sequence red dress.
@ShogunRok - Has Fallout 4 got the Pro patch yet?
Well I already got my platinum so I'm not worried about it disabling my trophies.
Currently enjoying survival mode so this is welcome news. I'm more interested in mods that make subtle improvements than those that add external assets anyways. Shame theres no script extender though.
&Bhattiboy I honestly think survival mode makes this game, but then I enjoy realism in games. Its definetely not for everybody though.
@FaultyDroid To be honest I have not been able to make up my mind on getting Nuka world, I have decided not to purchase it just yet.
I was ready to start last month but it looked like Mods were back on so yet again I will wait.
Survival mode was an unexpected surprise to me it reminded me of Fallout Las Vegas where you had to eat and drink im not sure if they called it hardcore mode anyway on my travels I found a corn farm happy days.
Better late than never.
@Splat Errrrm, no, I don't think it does just yet.
