In the penultimate UK sales chart of the year, tracking data for the week through 24th December, the maligned Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare maintained its position at the top of the best sellers list – not bad for a supposed "flop", eh? To be fair, the game has been on sale for £19.99 at some stores, which is unprecedented for this franchise.
The top ten looks exactly as you'd expect it to really: FIFA 17 is in second, Battlefield 1 is in third, Watch Dogs 2 is in fourth (and is finally starting to stretch its legs), and Grand Theft Auto V is in fifth. Mafia III and Steep are both enjoying something of a mini-resurgence on the back of retailer discounts, while strong word of mouth has kept Final Fantasy XV in the mix.

Openworld games seem to be in vogue. You need to break out Cod or Fifa just to get away from them.
@themcnoisy Forza Horizon 3 is open world as well, surprisingly. Maybe in a few years we'll start seeing open world CoD.
I always got the impression that the controversy around CoD: IW and BF1 was more than a bit forced/exaggerated as someone who doesn't really care for Call of Duty or Battlefield. Is the change in setting and minor gameplay alterations really that dealbreaking? I doubt it personally.
@Orpheus79V To be honest the multiplayer with IW is terrible. The maps are so bland and boring, online does not run perfect, removing the option to be a female. I know the last thing does not matter but removing a option is always a step back. The only reasons that i bought IW was Blackfriday, COD 4 and the singleplayer looked cool.
How is GTA still in the top? I thought everyone would have bought it twice by now.
I really can't believe Titanfall 2 is outside the top 10. For me, based on quality of single player experience, tight controls and an excellent multiplayer (admittedly I haven't played as much as I woulld like to but for I'll be going back to it once I finish FFXV) it should be in the top 3. Shame EA made such a mistake in releasing it so close to BF1 and COD release window.
Do they include digital sale's in these tally's yet in the UK? If not these chart's are highly innacurate anyway but the chart's do look unimaginatively similar don't they I'm guilty of buying 3 game's in that list but only 1 out of the top 3 (BF1).

To be fair, COD and Fifa are the non gamers games. There are a large group of people who play FIFA, or COD then occasionally take a break to play GTA every several years, before returning to FIFA. Or COD. they buy one, two, or three of the above titles and nothing else. ever.
Then there are people who play games, and occasionally they'll play one of the above every so many years. Possibly.
