A fantastic start to the year for the PlayStation 4 looks set to continue in March, which, on the face of it, looks like another really strong month for Sony's current-gen console. There's a good variety of titles on offer, from blockbusters to niche Japanese collections, and there are even a few promising little digital titles to consider. Let's take a look at what we've got.

Horizon: Zero Dawn (PS4 Exclusive)

Release date: 1st March (EU)
Publisher: Sony

You know all about this one by now. Horizon: Zero Dawn is actually out in February in North America, but it doesn't hit Europe until the start of March, so it's managed to worm its way into two separate Promising PS4 Games features. If you somehow don't know what Guerrilla Games' latest is all about, be sure to give our glowing review a look by clicking through here.

lego worlds.jpg

LEGO Worlds

Release date: 3rd March (EU) 7th March (NA)
Publisher: Warner Bros.

A LEGO game? On a Promising PS4 Games list? Well, okay, it seems a new LEGO title launches every other week - seriously, we really struggle to keep up - but this one isn't your usual brick-busting adventure. In Worlds, you'll be able to build just about anything that you want and explore an unsurprisingly colourful setting, sharing your creations with your buddies. Basically, it's LEGO Minecraft, which seems like an obvious idea that's never been followed through... Until now.

nier automata ps4 march.jpg

NieR: Automata (PS4 Console Exclusive)

Release date: 7th March (NA) 10th March (EU)
Publisher: Square Enix

NieR: Automata's an anticipated action title, especially among the hardcore crowd, and what we've seen of it so far suggests an interesting adventure. Main character and android 2B cuts her way through a post-apocalyptic world, flaunting a fluid fighting style that looks as stylish as it is deadly. A bit of a genre mashup, Automata is a mix of role-playing game elements, hack and slash action, and even platforming.

ghost recon wildlands 3.jpg

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Release date: 7th March
Publisher: Ubisoft

Ubisoft's at it again, pumping out yet another open world title with RPG sprinkles. This time, though, it's Ghost Recon that's being transformed into a cocktail of objective markers and skill trees, so expect military jargon and lots of gun porn along with the usual fluff. It's very easy to rag on Ubisoft's now infamous gameplay and genre template, but after playing the open beta, we're actually looking forward to giving the full release a go. When playing with friends, it has the potential to be a co-op favourite - you can read our preview through here.

danganronpa 1&2 reload.jpg

Danganronpa 1&2 Reload (PS4/Vita Console Exclusive)

Release date: 17th March (EU) 31st March (NA)
Publisher: NIS America

Two of our favourite Vita titles smashed into one delicious package, Danganronpa 1&2 Reload should be the perfect way to get stuck into this highly intriguing series. Combining a gripping tale of murder with crazy courtroom shenanigans, the property's attracted a small but dedicated audience here in the West. With any luck, the PS4 version of this collection will strike a chord with the home console's much bigger user base.

mass effect andromeda ps4 march.jpg

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Release date: 21st March (NA) 23rd March (EU)
Publisher: EA

It's a bit weird to think that the next Mass Effect game is out next month, isn't it? Mass Effect: Andromeda is a title that many have been eagerly awaiting for years, and based on what we've seen and heard, it's looking like a worthy successor to Commander Shepard's trilogy. Featuring much improved combat and a heavier emphasis on exploration, you won't need a telescope to see this blockbuster coming - especially now that developer BioWare seems to be pushing a new gameplay trailer out every few days.

toukiden 2.jpg

Toukiden 2 (PS4/Vita Exclusive)

Release date: 21st March (NA) 24th March (EU)
Publisher: Koei Tecmo

For our money, Toukiden: Kiwami is probably the best monster hunting title available on the PS4, and with Toukiden 2 taking the 'bigger and better' approach to being a sequel, we can assume that it'll at least be just as good as its predecessor. More weapon types, bigger, more lavish environments, and a whole new story complete with fresh characters should be enough to plop this one onto any action RPG fan's radar.

zero escape.jpg

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games (PS4/Vita Console Exclusive)

Release date: 24th March
Publisher: Aksys Games

Another collection of niche Japanese titles, Zero Escape: The Nonary Games packs 999 and Virtue's Last Reward together, creating what can only be described as an engrossing tale of death and weird puzzles. Visual novels spliced with puzzle solving and player choice, those looking for a mature narrative that's peppered with interesting characters shouldn't pass this one up - even if the third game isn't included, for some mad reason.

snake pass ps4.png

Snake Pass

Release date: 28th March (NA) 29th March (EU)
Publisher: Sumo Digital

Something a little more lighthearted, Snake Pass is a colourful platformer in which you slip and slither through a selection of varied levels. With no arms or legs, gameplay demands a more original touch as you bend the titular serpent around wooden poles to reach your destination. Simple? Definitely. Fun? Hopefully.

vikings wolves of midgard gameplay.jpg

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard

Release date: 28th March
Publisher: Kalypso Media

We put a surprising amount of thought into trying to describe Vikings - Wolves of Midgard, but ultimately we decided to just tell it like it is: this is essentially Diablo with vikings. The action RPG promises loot, cool God-like abilities, and hordes of mythical creatures that need killing. It wouldn't require much effort to call this a cheap imitation, but you may as well take inspiration from the best. This could end up being a very solid effort.
