A fantastic start to the year for the PlayStation 4 looks set to continue in March, which, on the face of it, looks like another really strong month for Sony's current-gen console. There's a good variety of titles on offer, from blockbusters to niche Japanese collections, and there are even a few promising little digital titles to consider. Let's take a look at what we've got.
Horizon: Zero Dawn (PS4 Exclusive)
Release date: 1st March (EU)
Publisher: Sony
You know all about this one by now. Horizon: Zero Dawn is actually out in February in North America, but it doesn't hit Europe until the start of March, so it's managed to worm its way into two separate Promising PS4 Games features. If you somehow don't know what Guerrilla Games' latest is all about, be sure to give our glowing review a look by clicking through here.

LEGO Worlds
Release date: 3rd March (EU) 7th March (NA)
Publisher: Warner Bros.
A LEGO game? On a Promising PS4 Games list? Well, okay, it seems a new LEGO title launches every other week - seriously, we really struggle to keep up - but this one isn't your usual brick-busting adventure. In Worlds, you'll be able to build just about anything that you want and explore an unsurprisingly colourful setting, sharing your creations with your buddies. Basically, it's LEGO Minecraft, which seems like an obvious idea that's never been followed through... Until now.
NieR: Automata (PS4 Console Exclusive)
Release date: 7th March (NA) 10th March (EU)
Publisher: Square Enix
NieR: Automata's an anticipated action title, especially among the hardcore crowd, and what we've seen of it so far suggests an interesting adventure. Main character and android 2B cuts her way through a post-apocalyptic world, flaunting a fluid fighting style that looks as stylish as it is deadly. A bit of a genre mashup, Automata is a mix of role-playing game elements, hack and slash action, and even platforming.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands
Release date: 7th March
Publisher: Ubisoft
Ubisoft's at it again, pumping out yet another open world title with RPG sprinkles. This time, though, it's Ghost Recon that's being transformed into a cocktail of objective markers and skill trees, so expect military jargon and lots of gun porn along with the usual fluff. It's very easy to rag on Ubisoft's now infamous gameplay and genre template, but after playing the open beta, we're actually looking forward to giving the full release a go. When playing with friends, it has the potential to be a co-op favourite - you can read our preview through here.
Danganronpa 1&2 Reload (PS4/Vita Console Exclusive)
Release date: 17th March (EU) 31st March (NA)
Publisher: NIS America
Two of our favourite Vita titles smashed into one delicious package, Danganronpa 1&2 Reload should be the perfect way to get stuck into this highly intriguing series. Combining a gripping tale of murder with crazy courtroom shenanigans, the property's attracted a small but dedicated audience here in the West. With any luck, the PS4 version of this collection will strike a chord with the home console's much bigger user base.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Release date: 21st March (NA) 23rd March (EU)
Publisher: EA
It's a bit weird to think that the next Mass Effect game is out next month, isn't it? Mass Effect: Andromeda is a title that many have been eagerly awaiting for years, and based on what we've seen and heard, it's looking like a worthy successor to Commander Shepard's trilogy. Featuring much improved combat and a heavier emphasis on exploration, you won't need a telescope to see this blockbuster coming - especially now that developer BioWare seems to be pushing a new gameplay trailer out every few days.
Toukiden 2 (PS4/Vita Exclusive)
Release date: 21st March (NA) 24th March (EU)
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
For our money, Toukiden: Kiwami is probably the best monster hunting title available on the PS4, and with Toukiden 2 taking the 'bigger and better' approach to being a sequel, we can assume that it'll at least be just as good as its predecessor. More weapon types, bigger, more lavish environments, and a whole new story complete with fresh characters should be enough to plop this one onto any action RPG fan's radar.
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games (PS4/Vita Console Exclusive)
Release date: 24th March
Publisher: Aksys Games
Another collection of niche Japanese titles, Zero Escape: The Nonary Games packs 999 and Virtue's Last Reward together, creating what can only be described as an engrossing tale of death and weird puzzles. Visual novels spliced with puzzle solving and player choice, those looking for a mature narrative that's peppered with interesting characters shouldn't pass this one up - even if the third game isn't included, for some mad reason.
Snake Pass
Release date: 28th March (NA) 29th March (EU)
Publisher: Sumo Digital
Something a little more lighthearted, Snake Pass is a colourful platformer in which you slip and slither through a selection of varied levels. With no arms or legs, gameplay demands a more original touch as you bend the titular serpent around wooden poles to reach your destination. Simple? Definitely. Fun? Hopefully.
Vikings - Wolves of Midgard
Release date: 28th March
Publisher: Kalypso Media
We put a surprising amount of thought into trying to describe Vikings - Wolves of Midgard, but ultimately we decided to just tell it like it is: this is essentially Diablo with vikings. The action RPG promises loot, cool God-like abilities, and hordes of mythical creatures that need killing. It wouldn't require much effort to call this a cheap imitation, but you may as well take inspiration from the best. This could end up being a very solid effort.

It's got to be Mass Effect for me, some good games on this list but the series is so close to my heart.
... It better be good!
As an ace attorney fan, I've always been interested in the zero escape and daganronpa games, but never played them, so I'm incredibly excited to get the chance with both of them this month! The demo for Nier also turned me from uninterested to a day one purchase of the game, so I'll be picking that up as well I think. I would buy horizon and mass effect but I don't think my wallet can take it! This looks like an incredible month
What about Kingdom Hearts?
Blimey, out of this list Lego Worlds,Toukiden and Zero Escape are the only games I DON'T want!Surely the amount of decent games will have to stop soon?
horizon for me, it's a new IP, ambitious, looks phenomenal graphically, and has critical acclaim. i'll be getting mass effect as well, even though what i've seen of it so far hasn't seemed as enthralling as the old trilogy.
Super month for games, not so much for those digits in the bank account. I reckon Horizon will take me right through to the release of Andromeda. It's a great dilemma to have, though.
Horizon is my most anticipated game of the YEAR let alone month. Mass Effect is the only other game of interest this month and both pre-ordered...
@BranJ0 you are in for a treat, particularly with danganronpa. Its absolutely brilliant. Soundtrack is amazing too.i love tge ace attorney games, but these rivalled them in quality for me, particularly the first one.
but im still working through January's promising games. Heck, I only started the last guardian last night.
While I'll only have time for Zelda in March, I am looking forward to playing Nier: Automata eventually. The demo was a good deal of fun.
While I'm very wary with the new Mass Effect I can't choose any other game since the trillogy is among my favorite game all time. That said march is the zelda month so...I don't know what I'll play first and...persona 5 is coming!
Nier Automata day 1 for me. I'll pick up Mass Effect on sale once I finish that and Zelda. Although the new squad mates look really boring. I've also gotta buy Horizon and EVENTUALLY Danganronpa.
So many games releasing in March on PS4 that I want to play; Horizon, Nier, Mass Effect, Gravity Rush 2 DLC, Snake Pass.
Good thing the only game (as far as I know) releasing in April that I want on PS4 is Yooka-Laylee. I'm pretty sure it's the only one, I can't keep 100% track of digital-only titles.
Horizon is the biggest game this year for me and Wednesday can't come soon enough, I've also got Lego Worlds pre-ordered as that looks a lot of fun.
What about South Park? Despite rumours to the contrary it still states in my library that it will launch on March 31st and Game have started to display cases in store ready for that date so this is number 2 on my list for March as it stands
@BranJ0 Danganrompa is a ton of fun! Funny and surprisingly deep. Zero escape is next on my 3DS list after Persona Q.
You missed out Kingdom Hearts 1.5-2.5 Remix.
I am really looking forwards to Horizon cannot wait to play it, Mass Effect has gone Gold & i think it'll do really well. Just like The Witcher3 it has meaning full side quests, and a lot better combat. And Nier: Automata & Kingdom Hearts 1.5-2.5, thats 4 games just this month so take me awhile to get through them so i'll not be buying anything else for a bit.
Starting this weekend I'm going off the grid. I'll probably alternate HZD and BotW until the 21st, then add MEA into the mix. I don't know anyone else getting it on PC, so i'll be doing horde mode with randoms. I honestly can't remember a month in recent history that had so much for me to do.
Mass Effect, the original trilogy was amazing. I'm struggling to think of a trio of other ip opening games which are so good. So I cant wait rip that one wide open.
How could you put Horizon, Nier AND Toukiden on the same list. Have the former two on preorder (I've gone mad, what am I doing!?). I voted... Nier! Demo blew me away, at this point Horizon is still an unknown quantity but I know I will like it. And then Toukiden. It will have to wait, I think I will have enough of hunting big baddies for a while, I will cleanse myself with Gravity Rush 2 after these two games are finished in a few month's time. Then Toukiden, oh, forgot about Nioh... and Persona, also on preorder... aaaaargh!
I wait for Andromeda reviews then I'll choose between ME and Horizon. Till then, Nioh.
EDIT: I just found out that after 3 ME fully localized, Andromeda won't be dubbed in italian... Pretty disappointing for a AAA game.
All great games but in my opinion none of them compare to The Legend of Zelda.
I had to choose Horizon since I anticipated this game longer but I am excited for neir and ME andromeda.
I've actually preordered one that's not on the list, kingdom hearts 😊 can't wait to replay it 😄
Feels like Xmas again😭 backlog v2. There's like a thousand hours of gaming in there. One hour a day after work = 3years worth in 1 mouth😰
Mass Effect: Andromeda.
I'm in the US so Horizon will be coming out in a few hours.
I'm interested in Danganronpa and would like to look into it more but I'm worried if I read too much or watch gameplay I'll spoil the story. 😕 If I do get around to playing it though, it'll be awhile from now as I have a long list of games I'm wanting first.
Well after Zelda, I would say Horizon but that is technically February. Nier I will get it when it is cheaper so that leaves me with Snake Pass.
In America, Horizon is February. So for March, my most promising game is Mass Effect Andromeda.
For me:
•Horizon
•Nier: Automata
•Toukiden 2 (For the vita)
•Zero Escape: The nonary games (because they're not going to release 999 as a standalone for the vita -_-)
•Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 !!!!
Why this site keeps underestimating the popularity of Kingdom Hearts is beyond me...oh well
New game every week. Keep on rolling!
Horizon and nier automata on day 1, danganronpa 1&2 looks good but I already have it on my psvita.
Edit: where's kingdom hearts 1.5 + 2.5?
For me Zelda>Nier>Mass Effect
Dying to play all of them and any released by themselves would be day one purchase. Incredible month, but this many major releases strikes me as a bad plan.
Wow what a lineup!
I will buy horizon tomorrow and can't wait for play it
But I want nier , i hyped as hell and can't wait to touch the disk and put it in the console .
About masseffect hmmmmmm im not sure if game is going to be good or not any way i diden't like 3 but i love 2 and this game is sounds like 3 i don't like the action thing on it , i want expelor the space not just shoot at aliens and blah blah...
March is always great
Damn, that's one busy month. Mass Effect the clear winner for me but definitely want to get Nier, Horizon and Danganronpa eventually. Kinda curious about the Vikings game and Lego Worlds, too but who knows when I'd actually get round to playing them!
Like everyone else I am struggling to keep up at the moment, I am 2 main missions away from finishing Nioh, but there will be side mission with those too and I would love a NG+ run too.
Horizon arrived yesterday and I have Neir pre ordered with a fee t-shirt so I don't want to cancel that. Not to mention I want to pick up Gravity Rush 2 and Dishonoured 2, never been a better time to be a gamer in my opinion.
Not just recently, but over the last 3 years I have struggled to keep up and I spend a lot of time gaming.
Just got Horizon so I'll have to say Mass Effect but I'll be picking up The Nonary Games at some point also. Played the first on DS and loved it. Bit bummed the third isn't included though and might pick up a vita so I can play the whole series. I seem to enjoy this type of game on a handheld more anyways. Or I may just give Danganronpa a try since I know all of those are available on PS4. To buy a vita or not to buy a vita... Decisions, decisions...
@JoeBlogs @smythelove @Rob_230 Oh that sounds amazing, I've just preordered Daganronpa, and I'm looking forward it it a lot, I can't wait!
@BranJ0 it's on my wish list 😀. It's got some interesting dialogue you have to pay attention to in order to figure out who did it. Its not always clear cut.
