The post-Golden Week slump in Japan is still very real, with little to shout about in this week’s Media Create report. PREY was the “hottest” new release of the week, selling 7,105 units on the PlayStation 4. Danganronpa 1/2 Reload also charted for Sony’s new-gen system, shifting 3,880 units. You’ve got to wonder whether some of these games are worth releasing with these kind of numbers.
Hardware sales remained steady but slim, with the PS4 moving just over 17k units in total, when combining models. As has been the case for a while now, though, it was a slow week for all formats – even the newly released Nintendo Switch seems to be struggling with stock shortages. All of the numbers are below.

Those are ridiculously low Switch numbers for a system that was launched just 2 months ago.
Meanwhile, PS4 and 2DS/3DS holding steady. That massive back catalog is doing its work.
Well atleast Nier Automata is still selling like hotcakes.
@Mahe well the Switch lack good exclusive besides Zelda
Danganrompa is excellent on vita. can't wait to try in PS4
@Mahe They're numbers that concern me all the more in that it's Japan, where mobile gaming reigns supreme and ought to be ground zero for Switch to dominate. I'm not seeing it at all. Nintendo is selling 1 N3DSLL for every two Switches despite that system being almost three years old and the Switch being the 'future'. That's a problem.
Yay for nier automata
ps4 "strong and stable".
@Mahe stock shortages.
Altogether its only approximately 61000 units across all formats. That's really really bad.
I haven't seen a Switch here since launch. Hopefully it's not going to be as bad as PSVR, which is near impossible to buy here.
(Also, the picture attached to this article is Chinese...)
@Mahe @JohnGrey The Switch's biggest competitor is the 3DS right now. Why buy the switch when the 3DS still gets games. Look at the new Fire Emblem, its a 3ds exclusive I guarantee the 3DS will do just as well as the Switch until they finally kill it off.
@themcnoisy It's a slow season. People are spending more time outside in the sun and less time playing or buying games. With that said, PS4, 2DS and 3DS are obviously seeing a lot of play time judging by the number of games they have in the top 20, and the number of systems sold for these several years old platforms.
