Employees at PlayStation in the United States got a cool gift on company dime today: a copy of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy presented in a retro jewel case. The artwork has been altered to make it look like an original PSone release, while there’s a mock CD-ROM inside boasting a PlayStation Network code for the full game.
While this is undoubtedly a wonderful token for staffers, we can’t help but wonder why a Collector’s Edition wasn’t offered with a similarly nostalgic case. A lot of people would have paid good money for the classic, easy-to-crack case – this editor included. Would you have stumped up for a throwback box like this? Get misty eyed in the comments section below.

Coming to an eBay near you.
Yeah, eBay lol. Most employees ain't going to be fans of Crash.
that look good.I buy my games on eBay.I'm from New York .the greatest city in the world.wow crash and syphon filter was the best game on ps1.ah the memories
@playstation1995 what does you being from new York have to do with this news article? Lol
@playstation1995 ?
I wish they wouldve done a collectors edition!! I always buy collectors editions of games. Crash is my all time favorite franchise/game (ps1 era at least) and wouldve dropped my money for a collectors edition in a heartbeat!
@Nono18 New York greatest city in the world playa word up son.I been a fan of playstation since day one in 1995.so I thank ny for that.oh yeah syphon filter is the best PlayStation 1 game ever .word up
@SKC_Diamond best city in the world nyc word up son.crash was the second best ps1 game .syphon filter was the best
@playstation1995 typical new Yorker mentioning where they are from within 10 seconds of a conversation lol. That being said syphon filter is a damn good game.
Why doesn't Limited Run Games make these types of things? I'd snatch up a retro PS1-style physical edition for Crash, or Tomb Raider (remember when SOE did that for Rise last year?), or anything else that warrants it. Sh**; Namco should've printed a retro-style case for Tekken 7. Or Sony Liverpool for Wipeout Omega. Lot of potential retro love to spread around Playstation-Land these days.
Seriously, Limited Run, get it together!
That being said, this doesn't look like its that hard to do. Grab some templates from VGBoxArt, screw around in Photoshop for an hour or so, print it out on some decent quality photo paper and cut it out, go find an old jewel case and BAM! I could have this done myself. Might be a fun project to mess with this weekend, actually...
I'd have been willing to pay $60 for this if it was offered as a collector's edition but it's whatever. Just happy to have the Trilogy in my collection.
I feel robbed. Oh well.
I'd have been all over this, modern day cases are too generic compared to all the variations we had in the 90's
They should definitely have made this a collector's edition. I'm not even that big a fan of crash, but I'd probably have bought one. Incidentally word up son I'm from Liverpool which is the actual best city in the world playa.
(((Ebonics intensifies)))
I would've liked the game to come with anything. Love how it plays, but at least a reversible case cover would be nice. Hell, I would've picked up a CE with that exclusive Skylanders toy.
Should have done a slipcase like with Wipeout how easy can it be.
That is COOL
@Mosquito8991 Same here, really wish for some sort of CE.
It really looks great. Funny that Activision left so much money on the table by not offering these. There isn't even a real physical copy of the game in there.
@rjejr
So this is the empty box we were talking about. Nintendo ended up being $marter here.
@sinalefa Well at least it's an empty box w/ a code.
But it has Activision's Logo instead of Naughty Dog's Logo. Eww.
