It’s the penultimate weekend in July before the August apocalypse arrives. Seriously, if you thought that you were going to have another month to clear your backlog, then think again – the next month is looking stacked. You may want to polish up any leftovers while you still have the chance.

I’m on the biggest PlayStation VR binge I’ve been on since the headset launched. If you’re not paying attention and think Sony’s leaving its headset to wither and die without software support, then you’re dead wrong. There’s a ridiculous amount of content coming out on this thing at the moment.

I've got a lot of gaming to get through this weekend. First up, I'm still in the process of polishing off Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Next, I'm just a tiny bit addicted to that Happy Dungeons beta. On top of that, I've got the urge to work through some more Diablo III with my very enjoyable Necromancer. And, as if all that wasn't enough, I bought Mad Max in the latest PlayStation Store sale and I'm eager to see whether it is actually as good as people say it is. I'm never going to play all of this, am I?

After a bit of downtime between reviews, I'm currently in the process of tackling two games, one of which is Supergiant's Pyre, which is a game I've been anxiously awaiting since they announced it. Suffice it to say, it's going to be a great weekend for gaming.

This weekend it'll mainly be Watch Dogs 2 for me, as I explore more outlandish things to do in San Francisco. I'll also intersperse that with some LIMBO and some Fez, as I'm looking to clear my backlog while the summer games drought goes on.

Now that I've finally finished Horizon: Zero Dawn, my attention has turned to the PlayStation Store. I have several titles sitting in my wish list, such as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Edith Finch, and Thumper, all of them worthy of my attention. I will likely spend my weekend labouring over this decision, and end up buying nothing.
What will be keeping you occupied this weekend? You know the drill: share your gaming itinerary in the comments section below.

Destiny 2 beta, then getting to Titanfall 2!
Never bought rise of iron, wish it wasn't still full price
Switch: Zelda BOTW: my Goty
Ps4: titanfall 2 ( bought on sales) and second playthrough of Doom
Splatoon 2. Trying my best to unlock stuff but man other teams are brutal.
Apart from that holdimg off on the Crash DLC until I czn record it blind.
I finished inside yesterday so im gonna be thinking a lot about that... apart from that its gonna be Tales From The Borderlands!
This weekend, I have been mostly eating... Elite Dangerous.
I am painfully close to finishing the campaign of Bloodborne after taking down Ebrietas last night and opening up the way to the cage head guy. Other than that, some Botw and P4G on Vita
Tekken 7, Injustice 2, and King of Fighters 14 on PS4. Puyo Puyo Tetris, Mario Kart 8, and Master Blaster 0 on Switch. I plan on buying Crash Triolgy and Arms this weekend too.
Still in the Big Apple until Monday so not much for me since I am taking in the sites. I did manage to pick up a Switch at Nintendo New York though.
When I finally get a chance about 10o'clock tonight I will be playing the Destiny 2 beta and trying out the strike
Final Fantasy 12! Half attempted to buy a Switch this morning from the shops but everywhere is sold out, as I thought would be the case.
I finished Crash Bandicoot 1 with all the gems and think I'll leave the others until I've finished at least one of my current titles.
I'm getting quite stuck into Final Fantasy XII now (sorry Kingdom Hearts II). It took me a while to decide who should have what jobs before I came to the conclusion that a) it was giving a headache, and b) it didn't effing matter. I think I've got a decent team worked out anyhow.
I like the story and the different pace compared to other Final Fantasy titles but do wish it was a little more developed in places. The party seemed quite accepting of Basch a little too quickly, for example. Gameplay wise it's incredible though. I think its systems are the most intricate and involving in the series.
Same game I've playing for the past two weeks, Elite Dangerous. I've got enough credits for the Imperial Clipper that I want but I just need to up my rank with the Empire to buy it.
I tried the Destiny 2 beta but I'm just not a fan of it. I hope the upcoming Anthem isn't a copy n paste of it.
I just finished Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End for like the 10th time. Now I wallow in memories of the beautiful moments of that game lol.
Besides that:
Battlefield 1
Yakuza 0
Bloodborne
Plus the demos of PES 2018 and The Surge
@Rudy_Manchego how you liking BB? Especially as your a parent, I duno how you manage with all that stress in your life!
Still busy correcting state exams but nearing the end, might get some BF1 in tonight. Finally upgraded my tv from an old 24" techwood tele to a 32" Samsung Smart full hd to. The difference in quality is amazing, thinking of replaying the Witcher 3 finally just to take in the even more gorgeous scenery!
Playing Fortnite, which has been very low-key before launch, figured they would have some marketing steam behind the release. Tower defense/third person shooter, lots of systems to learn, lots of numbers. My head hurts thinking about it.
FF12. Got the house to myself tonight after work, so Im gonna go pick up some mountain dew and doritos, and do an old school marathon.
I'll be jumping in Horizon Zero Dawn or Final Fantasy 12, I'm not sure yet.
I was challenged to actually finish a game (my backlog is insane) so I dug deep into my games and selected Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance in the GBA ( after watching the Netflix series, I got the itch to play some Castlevania) Almost done with the game, 4 more bosses to go.
Still slowly making my way through FF12 but I also bought Dirt 4 this week, which I'm absolutely loving. Also, with the addition of Nightcrawler to Marvel Heroes I'm thinking of jumping back into that. This weekend will probably be a balance between those 3 games.
Started playing Dark souls 2 again. It's very much the ugly stepkid of the series but has some really nice mechanics and some very nicely designed areas. Better than I remember, anyway.
Splatoon 2 has claimed my gaming time. Even when I'm getting my butt kicked it's a blast.
Splatoon 2
@Hego BB is a masterful game but it has started to bleed into my real life. I tend to play late in the evening and doing bosses leaves me in an adrenaline fueled state so can't sleep. I have to leave bosses till the next day so my nerves aren't shredded. Other than that I fit games in around kids. I play bits and bobs on portables when I have a few minutes.
Enjoy the TV if you get through your work!
I have a weird hodgepodge of games I'm playing right now. Just started Galak-z, I'm halfway through crash bandicoot, some overwatch and ac: syndicate, and I really want to play some vr this weekend. Haha.
Playing through Doom and having so much fun, fantastic game.
Also about Mad Max, "......to see if it's as good as everyone says it is". It was ripped critically, the reason I enjoyed it was because of how low my expectations were going in.
Still playing nier automata on the ps4 for the plat, already got all the ending (including ending y ), now it's time to go fishing for "a round by the pond" trophy
Also I just bought switch with zelda & mario kart 8 (splatoon 2 next). I don't care for mario kart 8 when I play it on wii u (play all the track and then sold it), but playing it on switch in tablet mode + separate joycon is really fun, I want to buy the game digitally so I can play it whenever I like, but I'm concerned if my switch is broken or stolen, can I download the game on my new switch using my nintendo id like ps4 or not.
Playing with joycon grip is a bad experience though, the grip is too tiny and really uncomfortable. And playing switch on 4k tv is not good, there's jaggies everywhere on mk8, even the eshop text is not too clear on the tv.
@ztpayne7 Galakz is good, but the difficulty is out of whack for me, stage 1 is easy, stage 2 is really difficult with ship with shotgun weapon gunning me down really quickly, stage 3 and 4 is not too difficult. I already finish the last stage but not the new updated final stage (season 5).
Only a week of sick leave left before I'm back to work and I still haven't put a dent in my backlog...I suppose I haven't helped myself any by finally preordering a Switch with Mario Kart Duluxe which is expected in mid August would of gone for the Splatoon 2 bundles but don't fancy a d/l code..
So anyway,I have finally earned the platinum on Lego Harry Potter years 1-4!now I can go back to Persona 5 and give Crash Bandicoot a rest as its causing me more stress than enjoyment at the moment.
Also upgraded my 3ds to New 3ds XL recently so will continue to play Picross round 2,Stella Glow and the new Kirby game
@wiiware Damn,is it really that bad on 4k tv?I was planning on using my own upcoming Switch and Mario Kart 8 on a 4k...as for the Joycons I was wondering myself if I should by one of those controllers with it as the joycons do look small but I have heard they are really comfy..but I do have big hands..
Ps Good luck on that plat
Finishing up horizon, 2 campaign missions left 1 hunting trial and 2 side quests. It'll be a shame to finish as it definitely the best my LG B6 has looked in 4k HDR. But I'm ready for the ending now
@Wazeddie22 Thanks
I already preordered the splatoon 2 edition pro controller, now after playing switch with separate joycon I kinda regret that lol, oh well at least the procon got dpad for playing 2D games.
Using switch tablet mode in bed with separate joycon is the best way to play it
I'm trying to 100% Warped on N.Sane Trilogy, but I may juggle between Kingdom Hearts and Last of Us as well.
@wiiware oh yeah the pro controller,I couldn't think of the name of it lol. Will see how I get on with the joycons then, can always buy the pro if I find it too fiddly.
I just hope my Switch turns up before Mario And Rabbids Kingdom Battle..first time I've ever been hyped for a Nintendo Game
Funny,Tablet Mode in bed will be the first place I try lol
I'm going to finish Tokyo Xanadu while binging on Foster the People's new album.
I'm currently on vacation in Far Harbor!
Still playing Nier Automata. I'm almost finished with the B route (I think). I put my Animal Crossing town on Beautiful Town so I don't have to worry about it. Picked up Stella Glow again and am on Chapter 10.
SPOILER - I wish I could have played as Hrodulf😢 He was my favorite Harbinger. - END SPOILER
Tokyo Xanadu came out already?! I didn't know! I should go check it out!
I'm still yet to finish Resi 7 so I'm hoping to creep through that one a little more at some stage.
Also picked up The Witness in the current digital sale (£7 is absolute madness). I'm only early into the game but am already blown away by the art design, puzzles and just the whole feel of the game. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone that's half tempted by it. Seriously, stop reading this and get it downloading now. Seven quid!
Finally, I'm a little disappointed in myself that I'm still yet to trek far into Crash Bandicoot's N. Sane Trilogy. I've wanted a decent Crash game for well over 15 years or so now (and Twinsanity was mostly garbage, come at me!) But for some reason I'm struggling to want to play this right now. I think it doesn't help that I played the PS1 games not too long ago, but the release of the notoriously difficult "Stormy Ascent" level has made me a bit more intrigued to think about giving it a go.
Picked up Witness and Bastion. But mostly playing Final Fantasy 12: TZA. Loving it!!
Playing Splatoon 2 like there is no tomorrow. As great as I expected, new modes are fun as well.
As a palate cleanser I am also with Gravity Rush Remastered. This feels like a PlatinumGames title set in a Miyazaki movie.
@THRILLHOU
Extremely under rated title in my opinion, I absolutely loved this game. It's probably the weakest in the series but still far from being a poor game.
As if I don't have enough in my backlog, you might have tempted me into another play through 😃
I am playing through Mario Galaxy on the WiiU with a dash of Persona 5 and Assassins Creed 2 (Ezio Collection) on the side.
God almighty, Mario Galaxy is just incredible!
Senran kagura shinobi versus
Day of the tentacle monster
Zen pinball 2 deadpool edition
And psabr
@Lovespuds exactly! It's not a good souls game but it's an excellent game. If it had come after Demons Souls it would be much more appreciated. The only problem with it is that Dark Souls 1 is so good.
Elite Dangerous,, Jumping on Diablo III Necromancer just a little.
Hey guys what would be the best VR games to try out that are the best with motion sickness. I suffer a little from it and my VR arrives in the mail on Wednesday. Anything u suggest to ease me in to the device. I see some games can cause quite a bit of sickness to some folks
Splatoon 2, with a little bit of Layton's Mystery Journey on the side.
I love Splatoon, and I'm a long time fan of the Layton games, so this is a match made in heaven for me.
@Lovespuds Super Mario Galaxy is incredible. Just the perfect mix of atmosphere, great controls, fun levels, and brilliant music. Too bad the sequel isn't nearly as engaging, and feel more like a level pack in comparison to the well-rounded original.
@sinalefa Gravity Rush is an amazing game, and was a genuinely impressive showcase for the Vita's hardware power.
@wiiware Purchases are tied to your account now, so you should be able to reload your digital games on a new Switch if your old one breaks.
Trails of cold steel 2 on the ps vita. The story is really kicking in.
Not much ease. Waiting for nintendo to release another single player game on the switch.
Will be getting my ps4 back in January 2018. So i love reading about all the great games that have come out for it.
After not caring for it initially I'm starting to find my footing and enjoy Skyrim. Almost to level ten and took down my 3rd dragon. Also mixing in a little Injustice 2 & probably do episode 1 of Batman Telltale this weekend too.
@THRILLHOU The SotFS version is fantastic, I think it's highly underrated.
Darkest Dungeon and Crash, both of which destroy Horizon and Zelda imo.
Hoping to pick up a Switch next week, a pal gets his double staff discount for the day next week and has offered to pick one up up for me at 40% off rrp, so next week I will be playing Zelda BotW if all goes to plan.
@Ralizah
It really is. My first taste was actually the demo for 2, that overall feels more colorful but I am enjoying my time here.
Regarding Galaxy, I am one of those who actually prefer 2. It loses some of its "wow" moments because of familiarity but it really is polished, and the second playthrough with Luigi kinda feels like a different game and not a complete retread of Mario's journey as in 1.
Lucius Demake has thoroughly nabbed my attention, as well as managing mounting paranoia poking deeper into Bloodborne's chalice dungeons.
@fontainelefunk The chalice dungeons turned out way better than I anticipated — enjoy!
Splatoon 2, MK8, Rocket League and trying to play the PES 18 beta but won't let me connect to the server. Thinking about downloading Tekken 7 too.
@sinalefa GR2 is great, but I prefer the simplicity of the original game. GR2 is definitely MUCH prettier, though.
Was gonna play ff12, then I got nex machina because I liked resogun, and I just can't stop playing it! Fun game. Also playing inside finally, great game.
Rayman Legends on psv. One of the best games released on it. Still trying to get that platinum after all these years.
Arizona Sunshine with the AIM controller - its amazing now with its precise reticule! So much fun!
Also: Streets of Rage2 (Mega Drive), Strikers 1945 + Cotton2(Saturn), Howto Survive 1
It's backlog attack time, trying to force myself to complete at least one game a month. So just finished AC Syndicate and am now playing Uncharted 4, it's incredible so far. Also playing a bit of Ghost Recon Wildlands and Dying Light with my son in co-op, more for fun than serious completion.
Finally finished the Tombraider Definitive multiplayer boosting as soon as i finished i knew i would never ever play the multiplayer again. Now i can go have fun with the singleplayer so far im loving it. 😀
@naruball Sounds brutal i gave up om the PS4. I have a slight trophy hunting problem which sometimes ruins my fun with the game.
I was just playing pretty much the same as last weekend. I played some Pokemon Sun, and found a random Shiny Crabrawler. I also got to the end of the story in Horizon Zero Dawn, and there was still time for a little bit of both Zero Time Dilemma and Smash Bros Wii U.
@Flaming_Kaiser Why not just give up on the trophies instead?
@THRILLHOU I bought Dark Souls 2 a couple of weeks back as it's the only Souls game I haven't played. Not started it yet but really looking forward to it. I'm going for platinum in all Soulsborne games...
