This is interesting: a PlayStation 4 commercial targeted squarely at kids. Sony’s spent the past few years marketing the machine mostly at adults and core gamers, but it has hinted in recent interviews that it wants to widen the reach of the console as it pursues that all-important 100 million units milestone, and this is an example of that.
The advertisement – which appears to be running in Europe on YouTube – includes games such as Knack 2, Yooka-Laylee, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and Ratchet & Clank. The clip’s colourful and filled with emojis, but apparently that’s what the little’uns like these days. Would it sell your 11-year-old self on Sony’s system?

Can we have that face on Knack in game? 10/10
And @BLP_Software ''The World's Best Selling Console'' what did I tell ya
@Octane Well I figured it would have to be. There isn't much else they can market the PS4 as over the other PS4 I mean Xbox beyond "For those who likr kicking people when down". XD
Still, if using that when specifically referring to PS4 Pro, which is what the slogan needed to be changed for as it isnt the most powerful console, its wrong, because PS4 Pro isnt the worlds best selling console. The PS4 is as a family. Does it say that across all PS4 ads? If so, then good, its not a lie.
But...Worlds Best Selling console. Should really say "Of currently sold systems except 3DS (for a week longer anyway, its about to pass it) since the Worlds Best Selling console is still the PS2"
Nice to see Everybody's Golf getting some actual advertisement, at least!
That said, the fact they're -still- having to give prominent advertisement placing to titles like Ratchet and Clank, now nearly eighteen months old, really demonstrates how lacking the system is in first-party titles aimed at all age groups. I mean, third-parties more than make up for it, but I kind of miss franchises like Ape Escape and LocoRoco getting acknowledgement beyond download-exclusive re-releases and remasters.
@tudsworth Sony should remaster/remade the main ratchet & clank games and release it every 2 years with the price of $40
Same with ape escape, I want full remake of ape escape 1-3, not ps2 to ps4 games.
@wiiware I would be all for a Ratchet & Clank 2 remake, but I think the failure of the film has caused that pipe dream to die.
@tudsworth The game sold well though, I remember it's in the chart a couple of weeks after it release. I think the movie is not needed.
@BLP_Software The 3DS is not a console its a handheld.
@tudsworth Yeah i agree there should be more small titles for kids
@BLP_Software Check the ad, it even says ''2014 2015 2016'', and yes it was for the vanilla PS4.
@Flaming_Kaiser Handhelds are consoles too. Home console or handheld console, both are consoles.
@BLP_Software 3DS is 67m, PS4 is 60m
If I had to do guess work I think the PS4 is nearing 62m
3DS: nearing 68m
@BLP_Software What they said is correct, it is the world's best selling console. The PS2 is not outselling the PS4 right now. Regardless, we're arguing semantics. Bottom line is it's a good ad.
I'm surprised it took them this long.
Ironically it's the CoD games that actually attracts kids
