The football season is underway, the release calendar is stacked, and we're knee-deep into August – it all means that the business end of the year is imminent. Of course, that gives us plenty of opportunity to natter in your weekly WAYP, so let's get into Issue 181.

The start of the football season has convinced me to pick up my first FIFA in a few seasons, so I'm making do with outdated rosters in the discounted FIFA 17. To be honest, I've been faffing around a lot in Ultimate Team which I'm worried may be getting its claws into me. I wouldn't mind, but I'm spending more time navigating menus than actually playing the game.

This weekend, I'll be spending a large portion of my time playing Agents of Mayhem ahead of writing the review. Should I need a break from the tearing things up in Volition's Saints Row spin-off, I'll be squabbling with the rest of the SMITE community over who gets to play Artio, the latest overpowered goddess to be added to the MOBA.

Having caught up on my backlog has been a really weird feeling. To make up for it I've just been playing Rainbow Six: Siege daily. But luckily I've got a few new games to play. I picked up the Lovecraftian sacrifice simulator The Shrouded Isle on Steam, and I grabbed Hellblade for the PS4, 'cos the game just has me too curious to not play it.

I’m half way through Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age right now, and I’m thoroughly enjoying myself. The only problem? Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice awaits, and I’m fighting back the desire to start it up!
Jade Sayers, Reviewer
This weekend I'll be spending many hours on public transport, so I'll be bringing along my Vita and playing some NORN9! I've only done two routes, so I have a whole lot to keep me occupied on my travels!
Sam Brooke, Reviewer
It'll be Alien: Isolation for me this weekend, interspersing the time between the new Premier League matches with some horror that still doesn't match the dread I feel when Liverpool face Watford away. Still, while the latter has James Milner as its salvation, Alien: Isolation is sadly lacking a reliable but boring midfielder.
Stephen Tailby, Reviewer
My weekend is sure to go quickly – I'm spin dashing, ring collecting, and emerald chasing my way through Sonic Mania for review. You'll be able to read my thoughts on the pixelated platformer very soon.

It's summertime and that means the Summer Games event in Overwatch. Throw in some Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and Bayonetta and that sounds like a good weekend to me.
We're out of gas so it's all over to you. What are you playing this weekend? You know the drill – we'll see you in the comments section below.

Well a bit of STO like normal and DBXV2 just had a update that fixes a few issues so i'm replaying that, oh and Naruto Storm 4 tournament with my mates
but other than that a bit of the second phase of the FFXV Comrades Beta and some FFXII:ZA
Hellblade still! I think I'm near the end, but then will have to go back for the lorestones I missed. Crash 3 when the kids are awake.
Edit: and I may d/l NMS for shits and giggles...maybe not.
This weekend, I have been mostly eating... Sudden Strike 4.
... As I play the role of Erich von Manstein, on the Ostfront, defending western Europe against the Bolshevik menace.
I'll be playing Onechanbara Z2 Chaos.
Will continue my progress with FF12 and Life is Strange maybe throw in a random third game to swap out with.
Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and MLB The Show 17.
I was away from home last week, so I've started playing some 3DS games. This weekend, I'll continue with them and play some more Poochy and Yoshi Wooly World, and Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX.
FFXII. Loving it. I've also started playing Telltales' Game Of Thrones and quite enjoyed the first episode.
I'm off to the canary Isles Monday so nothing new for me. Just a few muliplayer matches to titanfall 2and black ops. Then a dust off and charge of my vita that I haven't play since last year. Got a 64gb full so plenty of choice
Dragon Quest VIII on the 3DS and Persona 5 on the PS4. I'll be occupied a lot this weekend, though, so mostly DQ in my bits of spare time.
As I'm feeling a bit under the weather and working today from 7-3 I might not do a whole lot. I will probably log onto Injustice for a few mins to do my simulation dailies but otherwise low gaming weekend. I will be picking up Agents of Mayhem on Tuesday so that will probably be most of my week and next weekend.
I've been playing Super Mario Maker again. I uploaded a couple of stages I made a long time ago. I'm also playing Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 again. I downloaded the demo for Monster Hunter Stories yesterday so I'll try that out.
PS4: Dragon Quest Heroes 2
PSVita: God Eater 2
Some monster bashing in DQH2. Plays a lot like the original, but the early character move sets are kind of underwhelming or straight out of DQH1. Hope Alena joins the party soon.
I've also been stuck on the same mission in God Eater 2 for 2 weeks now (survival, story mission 129). If I can't beat it this week, then after 50+hours, I've had enough.
Street Fighter V, King of Fighters 14, Tekken 7, and Crash Bandicoot N Sane Triolgy on PS4. Arms, Mario Kart 8, Puyo Puyo Tetris on Switch.
Might redownload No Man's Sky? Definitely going to get in some Neo Geo gaming this weekend; maybe even finish Horizon ZD finally.
I bought Hellblade and then have been poorly since with bad headaches. If I do get any time then it will be that!
Should finish Hellblade and Super Hot. Probably squeeze a raid or 2 in on Destiny and will grind some more in No Man's Sky because it's relaxing.
Cheers to all!
Still on Miitopia. Not much time for other games.
Replaying nier automata to get the last trophy for platinum, there's 1 missable upgrade material, I have to replay the game because the enemy that give the item can die without giving it, that enemy also will not respawn until you start a new game.
I'm still currently mostly all in with regards to Final Fantasy XIV, but if I have any downtime I'm going to start up Dragon Warrior/Quest III (GBC version). I remember playing through a good chunk of that when I was younger but never really beat it, and outside of FFXIV I'm on a huge Dragon Quest kick right now. Even got my slime controller for the PS4!
Lucioball is my life now.
Breath of the Wild all the way.
I played a bit of Project CARS 1 last night and some Uncharted 3 this morning. May dive into some Life is Strange tonight.
Elite Dangerous might even put a few hours into No Man's Sky if I can drag myself away from Elite.
I'll be making my through more Shadow Tactics while I continue trying to break through the high learning curve of Lawbreakers. Incredibly fun game but boy do I suck. I may also jump into Ghost Recon Wildlands for a bit as I work my way through the final few provinces, time dependant of course.
Battlefield 1. Operations are a lot of fun
I will be playing Splatoon 2, today I may try League Battles and tomorrow a friend will come home to see the game.
I started The Order. Since the whole file hasnt downloaded I played around an hour. Probably wont keep playing. Slow, boring and bland.
@AlexStinton Hi, not sure if you're allowed to talk about the game, yet but I was wondering about what do think of the game Agents of Mayhem so far? Do you think that it's worth pre-ordering?
Its my birthday so I think some beers and late night gaming are a good way to celebrate. Now what can I play?
Shovel Knight
Arkham Asylum
PES 17
The Witcher 3
I got Yooka Laylee today for £22 which wasn't bad I thought so I'll be playing that. I hear the patch dropped to fix the camera and what not recently?
I'll also be playing some Warframe while checking the mail for my invoice. There's no way this much game comes for free.
I'm looking forward to your Sonic review @Quintumply although I have it on preorder anyway. Not to take anything away from the other writers but you're the best reviewer on here in my mind!!
This weekend is still Horizon Zero Dawn. There is something about this game that makes me unable to stop but keep playing it. Even only explore & hunting without follow any quests. I still find it fun & I'm already played it for 2 months.
@Kidfried I picked up Hitman Season 1 from sale awhile back. You are in for a treat because Sapienza is 1 of the best location/episode if not the best location/episode of Hitman Season 1. Play & explore it without guide is a good & fun way to learn the map. Hope you will enjoy it.
@quintumply im very very very jealous.
Im ploughing through Persona 5. The beginning of Kitty Patrol vs Nedved. In the famous words of the background chatacter from Christopher Reeves Superman 2 when Supermans about to face general zod over metropolis.... This is gonna be Good!
I'm nearly finished with Life Is Strange, currently on episode 5. It's definitely been quite a ride. Outside if that, I'll be playing more Injustice while I wait for my 3DS in the mail.
Finally got my Switch today so this weekend will be flipping from Mario Kart 8 deluxe,Splatoon 2 and Zelda BOTW on that.It's a neat little console and so glad I picked it up
Now,it's not all good news,I spent so much time messing about with the leads behind my tv and trying to figure out what cable was connected to which console etc for some reason I somehow pulled the external hard drive to the ps4 out without even knowing the console was on.Now in the hope all my data hasn't been corrupted or lost I'll also be playing Persona 5,TLG (as hyped as I was for this game I'm really getting frustrated with the camera and the controls and the fact half the time Trico ignores me!)and maybe some Just Cause 3...
I went back to no mans sky after the Atlas rising update and man it's like a totally different game. I'm also playing warframe which is another game that's totally different from when I played it at the PS4 launch
@Wazeddie22
Hey, congrats on your Switch! If you want to be friends let me know.
@LobsterJohnson
Happy birthday!
@Th3solution
I paid like $5 in one of those sales with the easy plat being an incentive. If I don't finish it my brother will.
GTA San Andreas PS4. Maybe some Prey and some bunker missions in gtao.
The San Andreas controlls took a while to adjust to, but the game is so much better in hd and on a large screen. The best image for me is game and tv brightness at max. The change weather code is considered a cheat and locks trophies like in GTA 5 but unlike GTA 4 where changing the weather does not lock trophies.
Well i gotta go and represent, shoot some hoops, and work out at the gym.
@DerMeister curious what got ya interested in a 3DS?
@sinalefa Thanks, have a good weekend. 😀👍🏻
@DerMeister When did you get a PS4 btw? I distinctly remember for months feeling bad for you cause you were stuck playing PS3 games while pining to play modern releases glad you finally got one at any rate
This weekend I am playing Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun, Dirt 4, Sudden Strike 4, Pyre, and XCOM 2.
Having just finished wolfenstien. Ill be playing some sunset overddrive, castlevania on th 3ds, BOTW, and dirt 4.
@Hego I got a PS4 the day Tekken 7 released. I was saving up for it, and happened to have enough after I got paid the same day. So far, I've played and beaten Uncharted 4, Persona 5, and Crash N. Sane, while also going through Last of Us, and Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5.
@Derpie1 I've wanted one for some time, just never had the money 'till now. I've been wanting to expand my Nintendo collection for a while, so the 3DS is a start. I've already got Fire Emblem Echoes for it, and I'll get some more stuff later on.
Doom and Fallout 4! Working on platinum-ing both.
I plan on finishing up Hellblade. It's not a game I'm going to play through a bunch of times but I don't regret the purchase.
@WanderingBullet I can't say I'm afraid. Any impressions are embargoed until next week.
I also want to get in some Monster Hunter on 3DS. 4 and Generations
Still playing FFXV. I think I've played around 30 hours and currently in chapter 6.
Vacation, at home i will play BOTW and horizon
Today was Hellblade with a bit of splatoon2 thrown in, tomorrow hope to finish Hellblade
@get2sammyb I know that this is hardly the first website to do a "what are you playing this weekend" section, but i noticed last weekend that PC Gamer magically started doing one as well. Furthermore, there are a couple of articles very similar to what you wrote about Hellblade as well. Just thought you'd like to know your hard work is being copied
@RedMageLanakyn
You're right, it must be a case of plagiarism, as there can't be another person who thinks the sameway as Sammy does.
@Wazeddie22 You need to be careful. Those three games cost me over 300 hours! I hate the fact that after 10 days the switch starts to tell you just how long its eaten into your life Its a great partner for a PS4 though.
@Hengist He certainly has an interesting take on some things! I didn't pay much attention until the Hellblade articles. I'd say someone over at PC Gamer has been "heavily inspired" by articles here. I'd make a comment, but i wouldn't dare have an account over there, that comment section is a cesspool.
I'll be playing Yakuza 0. That games mad fun plus I'll be on the Battlefield 1 and some Fifa17.
@RedMageLanakyn Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I may hop back into Hellblade with a guide for the Lorestone; I have no idea which ones I missed. I may let myself die also, though judging from a particular encounter you really have to just give up don't you?
I'll get on Overwatch for some Summer Games fun, and FFXII, and possibly some Hollow Knight on Steam.
I don't know though. I don't really plan ahead when it comes to games, and I work weekends. 😂
oden sphere hd.wolf among us.dead space
I just resumed my vacations on Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. And I'm not ashamed.
Actually caught up on work for once so I'm returning to the backlog. Get to enjoy some Tales of Berseria and NieR Automata this weekend. Good gaming, y'all.
@RedMageLanakyn : Yeah, holy crap, doesn't it? PCGamer has such vitriol coming from the comments, its astounding. Every single article is just people hating on them for mostly no reason. I had no idea they had become the IGN of PC Gaming at some point, really, but checking it out after surfing Rock Paper Shotgun makes you want to take a shower
Been playing DOOM all day so tomorrow im going to play NMS for a nice sunday chill session.
@kyleforrester87 You're too kind
@themcnoisy Not long before you get to play too
@TruthfulVoice I'd say PC Gamer has earned a bit of it, but not all of it. A few of their reviewers are absolutely terrible, both in consistency and honesty, and they tend to roam the comments and egg people on with snarky remarks. I haven't been to RPS in a long time, that site just never appealed to me. DSOG is pretty good, but again, avoid the comments section. Basically anything with Disqus I avoid like the plague.
Gonna try out NMS tovsee what this new update has to offer. And ill be replaying HZD on Ultra hard to get tjose 2 new trophies before Rhe Frozen Wilds dlc.
@DerMeister I'd say if ya like Echoes get Awakening cus that game is both a good game and a historical game
@shonenjump86 dude MH4U and Gen are awesome games even if the Graphics aren't the best
The masterpiece known as Hellblade!!!
@Derpie1 yup, I haven't put in many hours like I did with Monster Hunter 3 on Wii. But I do enjoy them.
@AlexStinton Gotcha.
I don't know, maybe a bit of Dirt 4, perhaps an episode of Life Is Strange if I get chance. To be honest I'm just killing time until Sonic Mania now. Might see how many game cases I can stack on top of my PS4 before they topple over.
Insomnia is back so I've been playing a lot of NMS, its evolved and not revolved.
@Gremio108 lol I feel ya!
@sinalefa Thanks!Loving it so far! Sure,send me a friend request or however you do it?not got one friend on the Switch yet lol
@BarFooToo Haha!yeah,I think picking these three games was an excellent move.As much as I love seeing how much time I've spent on a game it is pretty scary when it amounts to so much...especially as I'm an "oldie" lol
@kyleforrester87 I feel like Alan Partridge in the Travel Tavern, dismantling his Corby trouser press. I was going to fire up the Sega Mega Drive collection and play through the old Sonics again, but it kills me that they didn't implement the plug-thru for Sonic 3 and Knuckles!
Futuristic cars and club music - Wipeout Omega Collection which I strongly recommend for all.
While on PSV I play Freedom Wars.
And im waiting for my Yakuza 0
@Gremio108 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9ured0oVW10
Hellblade, Gravity Rush and I'm returning to The Division
@Wazeddie22
I will give you my Friend Code so you can send me a request.
8333-4345-0039
Finally decided to get into Nioh, now im wondering why I waited so long. Really good game, hard game, but very deep. Also some Yakuza 0. I redownloaded nms but doubt I'll get around to playing it this weekend.
