Ubisoft has revealed what's in store for Assassin's Creed Origins in January, confirming that an update is heading our way alongside the game's first expansion, which is titled The Hidden Ones. The publisher's detailed both in a fresh blog post.
Starting off with the update, we're looking at an additional quest that "celebrates" the arrival of The Hidden Ones, so we imagine that it ties directly into the story of the expansion. The January patch will also broaden the loot pool of Heka chests, adding weapons, outfits, and mounts that were previously only available as premium content packs. What's more, the update will allow you to sell outfits. Unfortunately, there's no mention of the speculated New Game Plus mode just yet.
Meanwhile, The Hidden Ones sounds pretty robust. It'll give Bayek a whole new region to explore as he builds the foundation of the Assassin brotherhood. It'll apparently boast a "vast" new story, and it'll increase the level cap from 40 to 45. If you own the season pass, you obviously get the expansion at no additional cost. However, The Hidden Ones still doesn't have a concrete release date. We can only assume that one will be announced in the very near future.
A few extras: Trials of the Gods is returning throughout the month, and there are a couple of fresh downloadable content packs launching, too. There's even a For Honor costume launching on the Ubisoft Club store, so you'll be able to nab that with your points and have Bayek run around the desert in a full suit of armour. Toasty.

Sounds cool. I really like this game so this expansion is on my to-buy list. Hopefully Aya will be in it as well, she's an awesome, very underrated part of Origins.
wondering how much does this dlc expansion cost ? i didn't buy Season Pass
Sounds cool - finished the game - inc the Achievement for completing ALL regions. Only have the Horde mode side quest left so looking forward to the DLC. I bought the Gold Edition that came with the Season Pass - glad I did as the game was my 2nd favourite of 2017 - behind H:ZD!!
I’m interested in picking this game up way down the line when’s complete version hits $30. Just how bad is the microtransaction poison cloud in this one?
the season pass is $60 here in aus, whelp. base game was $80.. will still have to purchase, ubi did well
Really enjoyed playing this game - upcoming DLC sounds fun! Definitely worth picking up on sale if you have not played it.
Just got the Platinum a few days ago. I have the season pass so im looking forward to expansion. Already killed all the gods, but will probably do it again cuz they are pretty fun battles. I really hope when Ubisoft makes the next AC they build off of this formula. Loved the combat and lived all the different weapons, scepter is so fun to use.
I got the platinum for this game. I absolutely love it. This expansion looks pretty cool.
Oh, so still no date?
I know this might not be the best place to ask this.
But, how is the stealth in this game?
I’m interested in purchasing it, but really only if the stealth gameplay is viable. Or good.
I just kinda have a sneaky itch.
@glassmusic Microtransactions are in there but thankfully they don't impact the experience all that much. Basically, they're tied into the loot system. There are loot boxes that you can purchase with either in-game currency or premium currency that include weapons, outfits, and mounts. Fortunately, you can easily get through the game without ever opening one — loot is plentiful as it is and you can collect many of the game's best weapons simply by playing it.
Also worth mentioning that Ubisoft release regular DLC packs that usually include a set of weapons, an outfit, and sometimes a mount. When they first launch, they're purchasable as DLC only, but after a while, all the items are added into the loot box pool. I guess that's Ubisoft's way of keeping people coming back to open more boxes.
@ellsworth004 Nope, still no date. Hopefully we get one soon — Ubisoft's still saying that it's launching this month.
@OrangeBagels Stealth is definitely viable in Origins, but there are times where you'll be forced to get your hands dirty with the new combat system. Stealth's also quite easy, for the most part.
Overall I'd say it's a pretty good stealth game. You can take out entire fortresses without ever being spotted if you like, and there are plenty of assassination missions throughout the story where you're able to kill your target however you like — stealthy or not.
@ShogunRok Thanks so much for the detailed reply! That doesn’t sound bad at all. While I try not to support games using the mobile model, this one doesn’t seem to be leaning into it too badly.
@glassmusic
You don't need to pay anything. It's 100% optional, and unnecessary to complete the game. I didn't spend a single dime in-game
