Infamous 90s NFL adaptation Mutant Football League will arrive at the line of scrimmage and attempt to rip through the RedZone on 19th January when its 2018 revival is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4. For those of you who don’t know, the original MLF was based upon the Madden engine and launched on the SEGA Genesis in 1993. This spiritual successor adopts the same apocalyptic backdrop but bins the old sprite-based presentation in favour of something more modern.
The game essentially sees you playing American Football with an ultra-violent twist; opponents can be eviscerated on the way to the end zone, and there’s the promise of both online and local multiplayer.

I loved this and the Hockey one as a kid. I hope this is good...
I always like these over-the-top sports games, like NFL Blitz and NBA Jam. They're always fun alternatives to play with friends when the person your playing with doesn't care for Madden or NBA2K.
Looks fun. From what I've seen of it, I might purchase it. A good review and reasonable price will push it into a definite purchase from me.
I wonder if it will use the XFL licensing
Sounds like Pigskin 621 A.D. it could be fun.
I remember playing something similar to this game but I never had Genesis was it also on other formats?
@dryrain There was a game called Brutal Sports Football (I think) that was on the Amiga (I think).
No way! I used to loved Mutant League Football years ago.
Wow, this and the hockey game on genesis were two of my favorites! So much for my new year's resolution of not buying any games until I clear my backlog, this is a day one purchase baby!
@dryrain Afraid not, it was an exclusive to the Genesis.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Yep, this is a spiritual successor, hence the name change.
