Code Vein has a release date on PlayStation 4. Bandai Namco's action role-playing title takes heavy inspiration from the likes of Dark Souls and mixes it with a bit of God Eater. The game's looked decent enough based on what we've seen of it so far, but the jury's out on whether it can stand alongside its inspirations.
Unfortunately, it's not just overall quality that the title has to worry about. Code Vein will be launching later this year on the 28th September -- and September is already absolutely packed with big name releases. At the time of writing, the month includes the likes of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Spider-Man, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
Obviously no one expects Code Vein to be some sort of blockbuster to begin with, but it's probably going to get buried beneath the competition. Here's hoping that it does enough to stand out.

Dead on arrival.
September? Good luck.
I'm not sure if that girl needs to worry about not wearing a gas mask when her friend clearly is, or the fact that her clothes are about to give up at any time.
Anyway, this is not my type of game. I am looking forward to Dragon Quest and Spider-Man however.
Not gonna lie I've been looking forward to this game for awhile now but this is not going to go well sales wise and being around games that are probably going to be really good is just going to lower its chances even more
Seriously? They want to compete with spider-man, spyro and dragon quest 11? Just delay it to january.
you really make you think do these company's have any common sense? what a stupid time to release it, doomed to failure
Why would they send this game out to die like that? The only possible worse decision they could have made is if they set it to release in October. Maybe there will be a 'reverse delay' and they'll bring the game forward to the slower summer months.
@get2sammyb I actually logged in just to say that!! September plus dark souls remastered coming out before it means this game is toast.
I was only planning on getting Spiderman, so I'll pick this up too. But I was hoping for a July or August release for this game... Why Bamco would release this in September is beyond me...
I think this game looks great though. I've seen a few Dark Souls YouTubers play through a demo area and there were enough mechanics to help set itself apart from Dark Souls.
Feel bad for games like this that get eaten up by big time releases.
Is there only one month in the year or something?ridiculous!
Dragon Quest and Spiderman will be taking all my time up from September onwards.Anything else will be Christmas or birthday suggestions.
Well it has a better chance than Dragon Quest XI at least.
And that's just from the PS4 perspective. Nintendo and Xbox are probably gonna have something big for September as well. What a crowded month.
I've been looking forward to this. However, like many people, I doubt I'll be picking it up on release. So far in September, there isn't really anything that interests me besides this game, but I'll probably save my money for all the upcoming fall games. They should have put this out in May.
People why not release a month earlier. Or wait untill next year even December is a smarter move.
@NinjaWaddleDee I agree i want to support this game but its to much. I would even say release it next year Januari.
Will be getting Spider-man and Dragon Quest XI. Will pick this up at a later date.
I´ll get Dragon Quest XI on day one.
I´ll get this one too after seeing the reviews.
Spyro and Spider-Man will have to wait for a price drop .
I might be interested in getting this eventually, but I'll need to see more of the game first.
Wow, September have insane amounts of games coming out
Spider-Man
Dragon Quest XI
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Spyro
NBA 2k19
Fifa 19
NHL 19
Code Vein
but i getting only 4 games in September : NBA 2k19, Spyro, Spider-Man and Shadow of the Tomb Raider
I think it looks really interesting, I adore the concept, but I’m not sold on the execution. I also feel like a more “cliche” vampire style (how they look and dress) with more blood getting on your character with an urban setting might have helped set it apart more. I guess more like the combat portion of Vampyr should have been, but in anime style.
This game looks better than all the other "big" September games IMO.
@Ryno Wrong, Spider-Man is way better than this
@get2sammyb no its not son
@PS_Nation dont hate playa.this game is great.word up son
@playstation1995 They should release it in August or another month not packed with huge releases. It’s a new ip after all.
@Octane She farted near him, that’s why he is using the mask.
September is all about Dragon Quest XI for me, others will have to wait.
Did not enjoy Dark Souls, so Code Vein is probably not for me.
Shame this game is going to be forgotten among the better releases, will be waiting for a bargain bin sale in a few years.
@Shepherd_Tallon Not a Spyro fan?
@wiiware You forgot to mention Tomb Raider.
@NinjaWaddleDee You have no interest in Spyro, Tomb Raider, or Spider-man?
@Shepherd_Tallon No offense taken, they are just remasters of older games.
