In the age of ‘Angry White Man Walking Away from the Camera Clutching a Pistol’, we kinda like this Days Gone cover, which is a little bit different. It’s based on the key art that developer Sony Bend released earlier in the year, and shows elaborately named protagonist Deacon St. John propped up by his motorcycle, as hordes of the undead surround him.
As far as box arts go, this pretty much tells you exactly what you’re getting, doesn’t it? There are motorcycles, people with tattoos, and zomb—er, Freakers! We like it. Good stuff. Unfortunately, the game’s not due out for eternity because it got delayed – expect it in April now.

After the length of time this has taken to come out, and with the likes of GoW, Spiderman and RDR2 stealing it's thunder, this is going to be the most anticlimactic game ever I think.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Lol. The game is a metaphor of its own sales performance. Genius.
You guys really think it's going to flop? I don't expect it to break any records or anything but it seems like a very easy sell.
@Th3solution what are you talking about the hasn't been out yet.
Great box art, going to be a great game, can't wait.
wow.one of the best box art ever.😱💕👍wow.this is PlayStation 4 best box art.word up son
I also like the box art, I have to say. I liked the God of War one, too.
I am looking forward to this. Even if it doesn't become a Game of the Year contender (like God of War, H:ZD) or be as anticipated as games like the Last of Us 2 or Ghost of Tsushima, I think it has a lot of potential to be a 'good' game.
I know we have a lot of 'Zombie' games - even if these aren't 'Zombies' but we have few open world horror survival games, few AAA games that put so many enemies on screen that are quite fast paced, few that offer such creative freedom - you can use the hordes as a weapon too btw. Maybe it won't be 'perfect' or the best story and dialogue acting in gaming but I do think it offers enough interesting game-play elements to make it worth buying and if they do manage to tell a great story too - bonus! The game-play I have seen does interest me a lot - especially considering that the game still has month's to refine things further.
Someone please turn that box art into a nice 4K theme please!!
Pre-order safe and secured!!
Its taken too long just like so many titles that make an annoucement way too early. Any resembelance of interest has now moved onto other games.
@AlejandroMora I know. My attempt at a joke in the setting of clear concern by Sony and Bend that it might struggle. And I agree with @get2sammyb that it will probably do better than most of us expect. The delay until April and out of the busier February slot is going to help it.
Still, there’s an apocalyptic vibe as far as it’s roll out that I’m feeling. 😉 I hope I’m wrong and it lights the charts on fire.
It's alright. Marginally better than the usual lazy boxarts we get.
Feels like a good 8.
I know this sounds really silly, but I always like how the cover wraps around on the spine on PS4 games. It makes my shelves look pretty colourful.
#guiltypleasure
I like the box art although I think it's better if deacon looks at the weapon (and fill the gun with bullets) rather than looking at us.
The best ps4 exclusive cover art still horizon zero dawn imo.
I'm kinda glad this got delayed still very much looking forward to it but it would have been pushed back with RE2 being so close
Cor, that is a nice motorcycle. I hope this reviews well, looks promising.
Im digging the box art.
So bland and ugly, bleh.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Woah, your comment has done way more to sell me this game than the game itself has 😉
@NintendoFan4Lyf you should indeed!
It’d be fun if you promoted the game based on that plot and then it turned out to be the opposite lol
@Octane I agree with you 100%. As someone who still prefers physical over digital, I like the fact that all my games stand out on the shelf.
I think it looks awesome but I d rather a view of the vast and beautiful world with Deacon on his bike looking at the horizon but holding a gun. That's more my vision of the game IMO.
This is too close up and reductive.
@NintendoFan4Lyf
Actually I feel its more in the beginning where Deacon can't go much lower but can go only up.
@NintendoFan4Lyf
TLOU had a similar theme of decent to Hell. Starts as a happy family and ends up an exterminating angel although with a focus on love being more important that all the sht in the world.
Deacon already lost everything at the beginning and already has a dirty job and doesn't care much anymore
Beautiful art, can't wait for the game.
@BAMozzy this was a game I was really excited for initially but that has died down a lot, perhaps due to Resident Evil 2 (one of my favourite games from my younger days) launching before it and seeing footage of The Last of Us 2 which had me more excited as I'm already invested in those characters and that world. I'm hoping as it gets closer to release that some of that excitement returns as the horde mechanic looks interesting and how the dynamic weather can have an affect on gameplay.
When I think about it we've had a lot of great exclusives recently with the amazing Horizon Zero Dawn to God of War and Spider-Man so hopefully this will continue that run
@NintendoFan4Lyf
I loved the ending because its so calm and sort anti climatic in a way that a lot of people get a different understanding of it. I'm definitely with Joel and Elie simply acknowledge with her OK than she s relying on him even though she knows he's lying. (it makes me smile that in such a 4ked up world people think a lie would be such a Terri le thing) Don't anyone get me started on her being that naive.
And no that not selfishness. That's love but it's for another debate
This box art make me think that it's a Zombie Hack and Slash game 😂
@carlos82 Both Resident Evil and the Last of Us are very different games. Obviously we don't have too much information on the Last of Us 2 but if it follows the same format as the first, it will be a very different game too. Those games are very linear, not a downside, but as such follow a set path from beginning to end, from chapter to chapter. Enemies will be were they always are (within reason) because the story is linear.
With Days Gone, the enemies could be anywhere - including areas you have already cleared - clear a horde and human enemies can increase in that area, increasing the chances of ambush. Clear the humans and the horde can grow because humans aren't killing them for currency. Its not scripted that you cross a certain area at a certain time with certain weather effects like a linear game is either.
Those games are more about the narrative, the story they are trying to tell with the backdrop of a horror setting. They follow a set path with scripted events. Those jump scares always happen at the same point every time you play, the same enemies are in the same areas everytime, the objective is to get from one cut scene to the next with game-play in between to tell the story. Days gone may well have cutscenes and story but you don't have to follow the path from one to the next and can go off and do some side quests, go and loot areas to get more resources, run into enemies anywhere - even areas you have been through before, be more aware of the environment, weather and time of day etc. Even seems that you could have different experiences based on your communication answers with different people too. Its a bigger difference than Uncharted is to the rebooted Tomb Raider which is more hub world RPG lite format to Uncharteds linear story - the only similarity is that they all have some virus that has affected the humans (and animals too) and lead to an apocalyptic event. Its almost as ridiculous as saying you can't decide between Mass Effect or Halo because they both have Aliens and some shooting despite the fact they are very different games.
No prob with the delay, lots of great games out now to play
@get2sammyb flop really? I'm God of war,spider man and red dead redemption 2 flops
@RedMan33 in if days gone was being released early next year it wouldn't have been in January 25 2019
It was originally in for February 2019 (same day as Anthem I believe), way to close to RE2 the delay will help it
Angry White Man Walking Away from the Camera Clutching a Pistol evolves into Angry White Man Sitting on Object Clutching a Pistol
It shows the ending of the game.
Great cover art, this may be the first Zombie games I'm looking forward to playing in a long time.
@awesomeandstuff So every single game coming out at the moment was being developed around the time the PS4 was released five years ago? Wow!
