There’s been a small break in the release schedule since Red Dead Redemption 2 released, allowing us all to conquer the Wild West as competent cowboy Arthur Morgan. And while Spyro: Reignited Trilogy and Fallout 76 linger tantalisingly on the horizon, you’ve still got a little more time to embed yourself in Saint Denis and its surroundings.

Yeah, more Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. I'm still barely halfway, even though I feel like I've been playing for an eternity now. I'm loving every minute, though – this is a wonderful game.
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
I need to completely finish Dragon Quest XI before it gets swallowed up by the backlog void. I was so close to doing everything there is to do, but all those massive open world games got in the way. I'm looking forward to getting back to it, though – I think Dragon Quest may still be my personal favourite game of the year.

The dream is to go big on Red Dead Redemption 2 this weekend, with as much of my spare time spent with Arthur Morgan as possible. Having said that, it'll be hard for me to ignore the glitz and glamour of Tetris Effect, a game I'm equally itching to play. A main course of shootouts and riding across the American plains with a side dish of dropping rhythmically charged glitter-blocks sounds ideal.

While I assume everyone is still on the Red Dead train, I am on a Final Fantasy Frenzy, who knows why. Therefore, after work, I will be flip-flopping between World of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 8, where we all know the real meat does not lie in the combat nor Squall’s endless ellipsis, but Triple Triad!

As I surpass a grand total of 100 hours spent with Red Dead Redemption 2, it feels like the story is finally beginning to wind down. But, while the story may almost be over, my total progress is sitting at a paltry 54 per cent. This weekend I'll be working on getting that number as high as possible before the Spyro Reignited Trilogy releases next week.

With Tetris Effect in the process of installing this very moment, I plan to spend a lot of time with that game for the weekend, as I've been hotly anticipating it for quite some time now. I'll also likely spend some time with Call of Duty and take advantage of the weekend event for that. Beyond that who knows. Maybe some hockey?

I'm going to read the retro sections in the final issues of both GamesMaster and gamesTM. After that I'll play games relating to features like The Retro Guide to Scrolling Beat-'Em-Ups and Game Changers: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, particularly as a thank you to gamesTM for all 206 entertaining and informative magazines in my collection.

I'll once again be trucking my way through Red Dead Redemption 2 this weekend. I've only just reached the game's halfway mark in Chapter 4, so I've still got a ridiculous amount of stuff left to do. Maybe I'll actually get around to playing another game next year.

This week has consisted mostly of World of Final Fantasy on PS4 following the Maxima upgrade. It’s aided in giving an already commendable game even more of an edge. That aside I’ve merely hopped between ARK and Steins;Gate 0. Been too busy revelling in the excitement the numerous big releases of next week has wrought.

I’m now officially 50 per cent through Red Dead Redemption 2 and still loving every second, between my time in the Wild West though I’ve been playing Moonlighter, which is a charming and unique take on the action adventure genre.

Since for the next few weeks I will be out of town my Nintendo Switch will be getting a lot of play time. With the likes of Diablo III, Mutant Football League Dynasty Edition, and Arena of Valor at least I will be getting some gaming in.
What are you playing this weekend? Will it be Red Dead Redemption 2 all the time, or do you have other plans? Pick carefully in the comments section below.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice.
Hitman 2 and Spider-Man Black Cat DLC
Bought Tennis World Tour and AO International Tennis from a current sale. Tennis World Tour has noticeable framerate stutters on the regular PS4. It is a janky game, not as smooth as it needs to be. Apart from this major issue I quite like the game, the content I mean. It's just a shame it doesn't run smoothly. I would rate the game 2.5/5 as it is now, and cannot recommend it to anyone for the regular PS4.
AO International Tennis, in comparison, is a much better game. In fact I would say it is a very good tennis game. It has been patched a great deal and I don't notice any framerate issues at all on the regular PS4, it runs and plays smoothly. It also offers a more immersive tennis "experience". So far the game is a solid 4/5 for me. So if you're thinking of buying one of these, it's definitely AO Tennis you should get.
I also just started with 11-11 memories retold, a pretty Adventure game set in WWI. Can't say that much about it, I'm liking it so far, it's charming and engaging, love the voice-acting, visual style and music.
Comrades FFXV, i'm trying to get the last few trophies before this version shuts down and the new version is released
Mostly Red Dead 2, it seems to be up there with BOTW as the two best openworld games this generation.
Also Octopath on Switch.
God of War mainly, I'm doing some exploring after the World Serpent has lowered the water again and it's great how new areas are revealed. I'll probably give Red Dead Redemption 2 a rest as I'm quite far into chapter 3 of Red Dead but it's starting to drag a bit for me now so I'm going to have a break from it.
I’ll start with Red Dead 2, and mix in SoulCalibur 6. I keep seeing Rime pop up in the forums and so I really need to get to that one day. Maybe this weekend will be the time. Probably not.
I also grabbed The Council on the current sale and my curiosity may be too much to resist trying it too.
DQXI. On the final boss, so close but i think i'll grind and craft better gear! Party are all between level 50-53!
Assassins Creed Odyssey
Random stuff. Not sure which system or games will get the main focus.
COD WWII and Sniper Ghost Warrior 3.
Red Dead 2 and AC Odissey for me. Two best open world of the year
Horizon zero dawn: The frozen wilds and some rainbow six siege.
I've been playing GRIP. Enjoying it! Also tried to have a go on the Tetris demo but missed the deadline, nooo.
Still Redemption 2. Just like Sammy, feels like I've spent 50+hrs and I'm only now on Chapter 3, after restarting the game almost at Chapter 2's end because of that missing people camp bug. The game is just so beautiful. The hair and grooming is never before seen. The fact that R* and Guerilla have been able to achieve this level of detail and beauty in an open world, Naughty Dog will have to step their game up in the linear world or move to open world too.
@stevenfins The beasts in The Frozen Wilds are facken terrifying! They're capable of giving any beast in Bloodborne a run for their money.
Quite a mix this week! Continuing with Red Dead Redemption 2, which I'm loving and think is easily Rockstar's best game. I really like the world and setting. Also continuing with Dragon Quest XI. I've neglected this recently as I was away and then played more Red Dead. It's been nice to get back into.
On the Vita I'm playing Metal Gear Solid 3 which is rather excellent. I also started a replay of Symphony of the Night on Halloween.
I only just made it to chapter 3 of Red dead, so there’s that. Can mostly only play on the weekends though...
Still getting towards the end of GTA V and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked. I also want to get started on something new this weekend, possibly Uncharted 3.
Bought Yakuza Kiwami 2 instead of forking out for RDR2 and I regret nothing. Other than Kiryu being a useless slow meat monster before you get the right upgrades, I’m loving it so far. However, Virtua Fighter 2 is bloody impossible even on the easy difficulty. Virtual-On is great though.
Currently hiding under a tree to avoid the rain but will be playing soulcalibre 6 when I get home.
I started playing this game where I'd be doing mundane chores like eating, drinking, paying bills, socialising with friends and picking my nephew up from football but it's all a bit rubbish. I'd rather live my real life as a cowboy.
I'm really busy with other things this weekend but I'll be playing tetris if I get chance after spunking £35 for the privilege!
Read Dead Redemption 2 and Tetris Effect!
Playing red dead 2, it's pretty good
Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Soul Calibur 6, Tekken 7, and Street Fighter 5 for PS4. I’m going old school with Switch playing Capcom Beat em Up Bundle, some Neo Geo games and Night Slashers. I might sneak in Super Mario Odyssey and SNK Heroines.
Looking to put another dent into Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5. On the portable side, I've got OG Silent Hill via the Vita.
Some racing for a change: Trackmania Turbo and Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo. There’s a place in the backseat for some SF V, The Disney Afternoon Collection and COD BO 3 as well.
Red Dead Redemption 2. I don't even have an idea of how many hours I played but there were a lot of them and the story didn't even move after getting to the second camp!
Anyway you should all check South Park's latest episode, it has a bunch of RDR2 jokes!
Also I bought Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 on the sale! It probably is more of the same yes but the first game was so freaking cool, I loved every second and it was a really good and chill platinum hope I can do the same to this one!
Haven't played anything in the last month other than a dabble in Red Dead Redemption 2, getting stuck in this weekend.
Still playing Dragon Quest XI.
I completed the first dlc of Spiderman . My target for this year is to finish my backlogs before I get to the new ones.
Those include Witcher blood and wine , inside , dishonored 2, Wolfenstein old blood.
RDR2, a bit of Night in the Woods, and tomorrow probably The Last of Us Remastered. My sister is coming to see me, and she actually wants to watch me play it because she likes good stories.
I need to get stuck into RDR2 but I keep getting pulled back by my Skyrim play through on Switch plus playing some retro Zelda classics! Plus trying my hand at creating some vids for YouTube.
It’s going to be Red Dead 2 and Blops 4 for me, I reckon it’ll be the same for a few weekends
After forking out a ridiculous amount of cash for a 'Tetris' game I am not regretting my decision at all because it's a fantastic way of feeling like you are on drugs legally!
Dragon Quest is still my top game though and like @MightyDemon82 I'm just about to face the final boss..however my levels are 50 and 51 so good luck me.
I'll also be playing and very much enjoying:Lego Ningago Movie Videogame and on the Switch,Torna The Golden Country and Resident Evil Revelations.
RDR2 on PS4 and Diablo III on Switch.
More RDR2. Got to craft me all them satchel upgrades
No doubt the kids will have me playing Terraria tomorrow morning, but other than that, probably not much. Might get some Red Dead in later tonight if I'm lucky.
I could maybe use a break from it anyway, might stop me talking in this southern drawl.
Yep, Red Dead for me. I'm now into chapter 3 and about 40% overall completion. Still slowly exploring every area of the map and still absolutely loving it.
I really feel like it might be my favourite game ever, despite its problems.
RDR2, AC Odyssey, and Destiny 2/Forsaken.
I must be about 15-20 hrs into RDR2 so far (chapter 2) and I still don't know how much I like it. Sometimes I think it's brilliant, other times it just seems like everything is a chore. I'll keep plugging away though.
Final Fantasy 7 👌🏾
@roe
Game of the gen for me.
I finally just managed to get that perfect panther pelt I was after
Dragon Quest VIII on the 3DS, and maybe a little of Fire Emblem Warriors on the Switch.
No surprises here - RDR2. Enjoying the story but not enjoying the pace so far.
Madden 19 and moonlighter which is an awesome game that should have more press, just a lot of fun!!!
RDR2 for me. Only 19% complete. Probably about 10 hours in or so but can't see anywhere that says total play time!?
@Wazeddie22 how did you get on, the credits just rolled for me after 62+ hours. Fantastic game!
Dark Souls 2 sotfs,Ys origin with 2nd character, and Yakuza Kiwami,it is fantastic. My first yakuza game was 5- it was free ps+ game.I had hard time with y5 because I didn't know whole story and characters.Next I will buy y2,y6,y0.I played Fist of the north star demo and definitely buying that game(didn't watch anime),also can't wait for Project Judge.
@JamieO Funnily enough, after the discussion on here the other day about gaming magazines I was thinking about GamesTM, so I picked it up in Tesco and was shocked to find it was the final issue. Sad to see it go.
@Bonbonetti Thanks for the tennis recommendations - hard to believe that they're the only 2 realistic tennis games on the PS4. I used to love Top Spin so will check out AO!
Enjoy the Aardman game - it looks fantastic
The quest to get my final character up to level 600 in Destiny 2 continues. Besides that I picked up Yomawari: Midnight Shadows in the current PSN sale which I've been playing over Shareplay with a friend, each of us playing for an hour then handing the controller over, fun little spooky game!
My target for the rest of the year is to complete my backlogs. Those include Wolfenstein old blood , dishonored 2 , inside , Witcher 3 blood and wine and Black ops 3 , bloodborne.
RDR2 of course. I'm stalling in chapter 2. And when I mean stalling, I mean 40+ hours.... I'm moseying through the world, discovering, perfecting my hunting, doing small quests, doing chores in camp, listening to Dutch's boring speeches, finding out the backstories of the rest of the gang, making some money and taking it all in. This game is beautiful and so relaxing! Tonight I'll get a move on...promise.
@Gremio108 Agreed, I'm really sad to see gamesTM end, too.
As well as the retro articles I've mentioned in this WAYP above, I've enjoyed reading gamesTM Issue 206's Cyberpunk 2077 feature where they talk to Patrick Mills, the Quest Designer at CD Projekt Red. I also really liked the huge ten-page cover feature on Rage 2, where they speak to the team at id Software and Avalanche Studios. The colourful cover and page layout looks great — presumably its design was by gamesTM's Art Director staff of either Andy Salter or Warren Brown.
This got me thinking about all of gamesTM's interviews and studio visits in the past. The only thing I wish about the final issue is that I hoped that gamesTM could have included more of an archive of their own past articles. The first issue of gamesTM was December 2002, so I would have liked retrospective pieces about the magazine’s history in the final issue – for example they could have compiled all of the games that scored a 10/10, a top 100 games list of the last 16 years based on their own reviews, or a collection of their best features with developer quotes etc.
I don't know how much notice a magazine has to prepare for the final issue, but I think it would have been cool if they could have organised a round table where all of their previous editors discussed their experiences at the magazine.
I own every issue and I’ve enjoyed reading gamesTM for 16 years. The way I see it is that gamesTM has been celebrating video games since 2002, so I wish the very last issue could have dedicated more space to honouring the magazine's own contribution to gaming.
Nioh. Incredible souls-like.

@Old-Mrs-Cloggins Thanks! Yeah, AO Tennis is definitely the closest we have to Top Spin. So do check it out.
Tennis games have a been a regular staple for me on consoles for a long time, so it's odd to have gone this long without one. None of the old (and big) publishers are willing to take up the sport again it seems, so it's left to smaller studios and developers to have a go at it.
Red Dead. The Epilogue is the gaming equivalent of the final half an hour of Lord of the rings special edition. Dull af.
@JamieO Yeah it felt like the end had sneaked up on them a bit. I've only skimmed it so far, but it seems like the only reference to it being the final issue is in the editorial. I would have liked to see something similar to issue 100 when they did all the different covers and the big retrospective. I guess in the end maybe it was a miracle they got the final issue out at all.
I can't believe I missed that article you linked to, by the way. I only saw the vote article and thought only Gamesmaster was affected. That would've saved me the distressing discovery in the magazine aisle.
@MightyDemon82 Congratulations!Yep I just finished the game about an hour or so ago! But my finishing time was 86 hours, but then I have spent a lot of time doing the side missions and messing around in the casino
Fantastic game,I'd consider this game one of the best JRPGS I have played.
Well I would go and start a different game but it looks like the adventure isant over yet..
@Wazeddie22 Awesome, i'm getting side quests done now before i jump into the main post game stuff, easily going to be a 100+ hours before it's over!
Nothing yet, but I plan to beat Until Dawn by Monday night so I can play Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Tuesday morning/afternoon when Best Buy delivers my order.
Maybe if I have some free time between Until Dawn and Spyro, I'll try to get back to playing Life is Strange: Before the Storm...but I have a feeling I'll be wanting a break to catch up on some TV shows and movies.
@Gremio108 I hear you, like I mentioned I don't know how much time gamesTM's team would have been given to prepare the final issue, so as you say it's possible that the news hit them by surprise.
If the closure of the magazine was out of the blue, then the news seems even sadder to me, because I imagine it would be a hugely sinking feeling for the editors, writers and all the staff. The team may well have preferred to have prepared the final issue as a celebration of their own magazine history, but there simply wasn't time. I'm purely speculating, though.
Good call about the content of Issue 100, too. All of my older magazines are stored away, but this conversation is making me want to dig out the 100th issue. I've been having my own little celebration of gamesTM this weekend.
My most recent read has just been the '100 Hottest New Games' cover feature in Issue 163. It's the July-August 2015 issue, and I always enjoy reflecting on how amazed I was at the triple-hitter news about Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shenmue III, and The Last Guardian.
Reading the E3 2015 issue of gamesTM has also led me to recall Push Square's Soapbox: Was E3 2015 Just a Dream? feature.
I guess the positive thing is that the older magazines are still there to refer to our good memories. I also really enjoy it when both gamesTM and Retro Gamer's articles are released in compilation books and annuals, so fingers crossed that we still get more gamesTM content in the form of a 'best of' bookazine in the future.
@JamieO Yeah, I'd buy a Best-of GamesTM, definitely. Wish I still had my old issue, my folks did a spring clean of my old room without my knowledge a few years back so I stopped keeping old copies after that.
Which cover for issue 100 did you get? I was a subscriber at the time and got sent Street Fighter III: Third Strike, but I couldn't resist buying the Okami one when I saw it in a shop.
@Gremio108 I bought the OutRun 2 cover of gamesTM Issue 100. I absolutely love that game, it would be really ace if SEGA released any of the different versions of OutRun 2 on PS4, but a remaster with the same engine, with overhauled, yet colourful graphics would be especially exciting.
I think that the pixel-art of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike showing Ken fighting Chun-Li made for a striking cover as a bonus magazine for you too, although great choice, the Okami art is stunning for Issue 100's cover. I looked them both up.
Years ago, I remember taking photographs of my first 100 issues of gamesTM spread over the floor, and I made a montage of them all for Twitpic. Unfortunately, Twitpic doesn't really exist anymore, so I can't find that picture on the Internet. D'oh!
@JamieO Nice! I might look into getting some back issues for nostalgia's sake.
Also, that spare room is getting raided next time I'm at the folks, just in case any issues survived.
