PlayStation has been making waves in the Chinese market over the past few years, offering support and funds to budding developers in the region, and it looks like the fruits of their efforts are starting to ripen. At an event overnight, the China Hero Project announced a further seven games for PS4, joining the likes of Lost Soul Aside and Monkey King: Hero Is Back in a release on western shores.
Courtesy of Gematsu, those games are:
- Evotinction - A third-person "hack and stealth" game
- RAN: Lost Islands - An old-time survival experience that makes use of melee weapons and guns of the past
- Convallaria - An online-based PvPvE set in some beautiful locations
- AI-Limit - A third-person action RPG
- F.I.S.T - A 2D Metroidvania from the perspective of a rabbit with a mechanical arm
- In Nightmare - An isometric horror experience that explores growing pain and self-salvation
- ANNO: Mutantionem - A pixel art 2D action RPG with cyberpunk elements
Alongside the game announcements, it was confirmed that Lost Soul Aside will receive further details later in 2019, and that Hardcore Mecha is set to release later this year. Remember that each and every one of these titles will release in western territories.

Evotinction – No gameplay - 2/10
RAN: Lost Islands – Kingdom Come meets too much water - 7.8/10
Convallaria – Could be Kingdom Hearts IV, who knows? - 5/10
AI-LIMIT – Janky NieR Automata - 4/10
F.I.S.T. – Working title? I hope they work on their game first - 3/10
In Nightmare – Made in Dreams - 4/10
ANNO Mutantionem – Looks pretty neat - 8/10
Monkey king game sounds interesting if its anything like the the monkey hero game back in the ps2 days
ANNO Mutantionem looks incredible! Curious about In Nightmare and FIST too. Some of the others look OK too but RAN: Lost Islands looks ropey at best.
I just hope these ones turns out slightly better than the China Hero games we have gotten so far, which were mediocre.
I have faith with chinese games but is gonna take a long road for them to finally achieve the same calibur as those western or even those japanese games, cause some of these still has that "chinese low budget" vibe.
I like the art style in ANNO Mutationem. That name is terrible, though.
I for one, welcome our new Chinese overlords.
@PS_Nation Let's just hope they know how to give us good games, because Lost Soul Aside and Anno aren't going to be enough, nor do we want more shovelware chinese crap like The Walker, Weeping Doll and Gene Rain.
@PS_Nation I mean, if the chinese games we have gotten over here since 2016 shown us so far, I'll be having second thoughts about what you said if I were you lol
@get2sammyb Agreed. A lot o chinese games seems to have terrible titles. Just look at Evotiction.
@SoulsBourne128 I guess Anthem, Fallout 76, nickleodeon kart racers, and Crackdown 3 are great 'Western' great titles? Crap comes from every country dude. Btw check out Huawei Mate 20 Pro... Surprisingly uncrap and probably the best phone on the planet atm according to tech reviews and forums. Guess what? Made in China.
Lost Soul Aside and ANNO Mutantionem look awesome. We'll see about the rest.
@bbq_boy
I just like the 'even Japanese games' part of that comment. I'll take anything coming out of Japan over anything coming from the West these days with a few obvious exceptions from Sony's Western dev teams.
@bbq_boy That's true. However, at least we recieved some great and memorable titles from both western and japanese countries. As for china? Aside from electronic devices and mobile games, when it comes to console games not a lot of those are noteworthy. I mean, when was the last time you saw someone talking about Icey? Or Shio? Or Light Tracer? Or Ancient Amuletor? You know, actual good chinese PS4 games that actually deserves some recognition but never got?
I just don't think that one or two upcoming good looking chinese games automatically means that chinese games are already on par with those of western and japanese games. That'll be like saying that just because you like Dragonball FighterZ that means that every anime games are and will be good, ignoring obvious stinkers like Knights of Britannia and Quartet knights and such.
@bbq_boy Except Huawei Mate is a phone, not a game though. Just saying lol.
I think I see potential for chinese developers but so far, when it comes to console games, the good ones have been few and far between. Lost Soul Aside looks amazing but I don't want it to be the only good upcoming chinese game on the PS4.
@Gamer83 Yeah, I gotta admit I should rephrased it better. But of course, it's already too late for that.
@SoulsBourne128
Meh, I do it too, I just thought it was a little funny because Japanese devs, especially Capcom, Sega and Nintendo, have been on a nice little 'winning' streak of late. From Software has had some strong stuff as well and while not what not on par with games of the past some SquareEnix titles have also been really solid.
@Gamer83 Yeah, I forgot about that. Capcom especially has been going on a winning streak recently, especially with titles like MH World, MHXX, SF5:AE (fight me, I'm a G main), Megaman 11, and now DMC5 (I'm already going to buy it next week). Not to mention that to top it all off, the director of DMC5 is even interested on making a Dragon's Dogma sequel if he will ever get the chance, which I would definitely kill for...just as long it will have better Ai and quest structure of course. Don't mind if it will lack online co-op.
@SoulsBourne128 yeah you're right. Currently Chinese games are meh but give it a few years! Sorry I should had mentioned Chinese mobiles use to be really meh too!
@SoulsBourne128
Resident Evil VII and RE 2 remake as well. Capcom is killing it of late. And a new Dragon's Dogma would be awesome. Few years ago I would've said not a chance in hell at happening but after getting a return to the true style of DMC, I'm not ruling anything out.
Evotinction & Anno Mutantionem look interesting.
AI Limit looks great.
Adding that to the list alongside Lost Soul Aside & Monkey King.
Some good stuff coming out of China. Keep at it Sony!
I loved what I played of Lost Soul Aside at PSX 2017. It's the only one of these Chinese games that I'm interested in.
Haven't seen all the trailer but the rabbit metroidvania one looks interesting.
