As part of International Women’s Day, Sony has released a pretty cool trailer peeking behind the curtain at several of its first-party teams. The inspirational clip, which naturally focuses on ladies, spotlights employees from a variety of different disciplines, including programmers, artists, designers, and managers. The message is fairly straightforward: there’s a role for everyone in the games industry.
Games are created by enormous, diverse teams these days, and it’s good to see women playing an important part at studios around the world.
As an aside, how cool does Media Molecule’s office look? It’s like the kind of mock-up living room you’d expect to stumble upon in Ikea – except it’s an actual place of work. We really should invest in more brightly coloured bean bags here at Push Square Towers to be honest.

They certainly help create some of the best games in the world. Congratulations to them and thank you.
wheres our "MensDay"
"balanceforbetter" is there some kind of discrimination going on in the video game industry I don't know about??..
@pimpjuice You have that already dont cry. 😜
I thought that one lady was Ellie for a second there.
@pimpjuice the other 364 days is mens day!
@ellsworth004 @pimpjuice
I can't remember the date but I learned thanks to the 'wonder' that is Twitter last year that there actually is an international men's day. At least there's a hashtag for it. And it led to the typical stupidity I'd expect to see on my Twitter feed considering I follow and am followed by people on all ends of the political spectrum. It makes me reconsider being on social media sometimes (all forms not just Twitter, Facebook can be just as bad).
On topic, cool video.
@youreyesonly00 Lol. Right?
@Gamer83 Man the only social media I'm on is youtube. Couldn't stand facebook, instagram, or twitter any longer & decided to pull the plug. Truly a peace of mind..
@youreyesonly00
For all the idiocy that sometimes goes on with it, I actually still like youtube as well. Only thing I hate is the recommendation system, I've had a couple game's endings spoiled for me thanks to suggestions when I wasn't watching or searching for videos related to games.
@Gamer83 I truly despise the recommendation system, it's a rabbit hole lol.
@youreyesonly00
Twitter is a good way to follow gaming news. It just depend on who you follow. I don't interact with but just follow mostly serious gaming media (that is if you can call Kotaku, poly etc serious)
I hate Facebook but just use messenger.
It's like many things, it's up to you to use it moderately.
@ellsworth004
Not really, is it?
It's actually a cool idea. Why the heck not?
@pimpjuice
I agree. I don't know why people get offended by it. Why would celebrating a men's day be a bad thing?
Weird
@JJ2 @pimpjuice 19th November
Here's to some of my fave women characters from video games I've played over the past few years, too.
Sadie Adler, Kassandra, Veronica, Evie Frye, Aloy, Makoto Niijima, Makoto Makimura, A2*, 2B*, Kara*, Chloe Price, Cerys an Craite, Billie Lurk...
@PapaGlitch
Correct. I only know because my manager is celebrating international woman's day with the female managers today, and he said he'd be doing the same for international men's day. I recommended spearmint rhino. Not sure how that will work out
Not to get too much into having diversity for diversity sake, as I believe the most qualified people should always be the ‘ideal’ candidate, but it’s nice to see women so high up in leadership roles in what I always assumed (probably is) was a male dominated industry (SSM, Mm).
@pimpjuice This is how people battle discrimination... by discriminating. I'm also looking for a "straight pride", "white, yellow and red life matter", etc...
@youreyesonly00 same. I deactivated all social media and I feel alot better for it.
Btw when is international mans day?
I appreciate women in all industries, but not much balance in publicity towards their opposing counterparts
