It's been a heck of a long time since we've heard anything regarding Super Monkey Ball. SEGA's arcade classic last made an appearance on PlayStation with PS Vita's Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz, and that was nearly seven years ago. However, it's been discovered that the publisher has recently filed a new trademark, and it's got fans all excited.
Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball has been trademarked in Japan, and this of course has led to the conclusion that a new game in the series is on the way. While that's certainly possible, we'd maybe hold fire on the hype until we know a lot more. "Tabegoro" apparently means "ripe," "in season," or "good to eat." This is purely speculation on our part, but could this be a remaster of some kind?
Whatever the case, it's very early days, and this may turn out to be nothing. It'd be great to see the return of AiAi and his chums -- let's wait and see if anything comes of this.

I'd take a remake of the vastly superior Gamecube games, I still play those pretty regularly to this day and the series was never the same after those two
@carlos82 I would go as far to say the original Super Monkey Ball is one of the best games ever. When they introduced springs and other features it took away from what made the original so so good. Very much like Trials HD and it's successors - the fluff is unnecessary and takes away from the amazing gameplay.
Give us a solid 6 mini games and 70 levels for the campaign and we are golden!
@themcnoisy Totally agree, sometimes the simple things are the best and too many sequels don't know when to stop tinkering with the formula, probably why I like the Yakuza games so much and the Pool in that always reminds me of Monkey Ball. One of these days I might even be good enough to finish all of those EX levels too, it's only been 18 years so far 😂
Oh man, I hope it’s a remaster of SMB Deluxe without the frame rate issues. A new game in the OG style would be great but they’d mess it up in some way. SMB Deluxe was on PlayStation after all.
Playing Super Monkey Ball Deluxe was my game back in the day. I need a new Monkey Ball or remaster game.
Super Monkey Ball on the Gamecube was classic SEGA, brilliant gameplay and wonderfully mad presentation.
Remaster first one please!
