As the ill-fated Uncharted movie and recently established PlayStation Productions can attest, Sony’s a fan of video game adaptations. The problem it has is getting its ideas off the whiteboard and into actual cinemas. The two (!) Angry Birds films prove that it’s capable, though, and there are all sorts of rumours swirling around a Crash Bandicoot conversion right now.
According to website We Got This Covered – citing unnamed sources it claims have shared accurate information with it in the past – the manufacturer has a new flick featuring its former mascot in the works. Given that Activision retains rights to the manic marsupial, this is more likely to be a Sony Pictures joint than a PlayStation project.
Of course, it does make sense: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled have reignited interest in the character, and he’s currently plastered all over PlayStation 4 bus banners in the UK. The hero also seems like a solid fit for some kind of animated movie, perhaps similar to the recent Ratchet & Clank adaptation. (Although hopefully better than that!)
With talk of a new game also in the pipeline, it seems like the future is bright for the popular PSone protagonist. And that’ll come as good news for fans of the franchise, after he spent almost a decade dormant. Indeed, whether this rumour turns out to be true or not, it’s clear that the outspoken ‘coot’s got a lot of life left under all of that orange fuzz.

More interested in a new game but always glad to see the bandicoot back in some form in the spotlight.
Not against the idea but I’m not entirely sure how you could adapt a very gameplay-focused game into a movie. I’d love to be proven wrong tho!
I've always thought Crash would work better as a cartoon series rather than a movie. Still, I'd watch it if it's alright.
I hope that the talk of a new game is more true than this, though.
If true (which I doubt), then I can imagine it being terrible like most video game movies. Happy to be proven wrong though.
Of course they are
The only Crash Bandicoot movie I'll accept is having everything CGI, like the games, but have Crash be the guy in the suit green screened into every scene.
@OscarHTX I'am more suprised they haven't turned ratchet and clank into their mascot he's been on every PlayStation platform but the original that's something not even crash can claim
@Areus Apart from Nintendo, are video game mascots really a thing nowadays? Seems like a thoroughly 90's thing to me now.
@Turismo4GT Sony has Toro Inoue as the company Mascot in Japan so I think they are still a thing not as big as back in the day but still a thing
As long as it's strictly CGI I'm willing to give it a shot. The chances of it being bad are already high, any kind of cgi/live action/real people would quadruple those chances lol.
@redd214 what if they got the guy from those crash bandicoot commercials from back in the day to play crash in a movie lol
@Areus hahaha I concede defeat, you're 100% right lol
@YousefFromKuwait angry birds lol. Thats all im gonna say.
@OscarHTX You Would be Surprised.
@Nyne11Tyme those movies were actually very well done imo!
@redd214 no doubt!... I mean considering the "lore" or backstory they had to work with i thought it was handled well.
@Turismo4GT Aloy, Kratos and Nathan Drake would like a word good sir/madam😂😁. I think the concept has just morphed a bit. We still use these characters to identify the platform but we dont use the 'mascot' moniker in quite the same context
I was really surprised with the Ratchet & Clank movie, it wasn't the best movie of all times but was helluva funny, if this crash movie follows the same approach I will definitely have to watch it.
On a more Savage speaking, I think Sony should buy Crash from Activision and put Naughty dog on a new game but that's too much to ask.
There are so many games that imo would make a better movie. HZD the movie could be so massive. I would pay to watch that. But im getting older and grouchier lol, hard for me to get into movies that dont have a serious plot.
@Nyne11Tyme Fair enough, I appreciate your assessment.
@ellsworth004 That will be so expensive i agree it would be awsome but the budget would be insane.
@ellsworth004 Nothing wrong with getting grouchier just avoid the ageing. I've stayed age 32 for a looooong time now. (And incase Flaming_Kaiser is reading, to avoid any claims of me being ridiculous, that's a joke. I don't mean I literally stopped ageing.)
