Sony's released a new 30 second PS5 advert, which attempts to sell the next-gen console's unique features. The included gameplay is nothing that we haven't seen before -- repeated glimpses of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West -- but the Japanese giant is keen to remind us of just how fast the PS5 is thanks to its custom SSD.
All told it's a pretty effective ad, but for those of us already embedded in the PS5 news cycle, the information's nothing new. The wait for additional PS5 announcements continues...

Just tell us when itβs coming out and at what price. We want the details!
But still no pre orders or price info.
Everyone wants to know the price and here I wonder how big the games are gonna get and how much memory PS5 has
If launch is November 13th we are coming up on just 60 days away! Its crazy we still do not know the price and pre-orders have not been taken already.
If only they were as fast in letting us know price, release date, and taking pre orders π. It does look like they are preparing something soon though with all the little adverts and ps5 controller info past few weeks, I'm going to say mid September we will get pre orders and release date, maybe price.
You know what? This cat-and-mouse chase between Sony and Microsoft is getting annoying now. One of them needs to reveal release dates and prices to their consoles now. Heck, why can't Sony show off the UI soon as well? I get COVID 19 screwed things up this year, but come on Sony! They're really behind at showing things.
Stop talking to devs about how much they appreciate the console and start doing a PS5 event with more details that we didn't even know yet. At this point i feel like Sony is trolling everyone.
3D Audio
Adaptive Triggers
Haptic Feedback
Randomly generated Price
Comes out tomorrow
PS5
Play Has No Limits i think
It's a good ad to be fair. Obviously we're all waiting for new information, but for more casual gamers this sums up all the new features of the PS5 and shows off several exclusives in 30 seconds.
Effective YouTube pre-roll fodder!
@Milt As we reported recently, this cat-and-mouse stuff is forum fodder. The reality is that they're both probably waiting as long as possible because all it takes is another big coronavirus outbreak to put their plans into complete disarray.
Launching hardware is really hard, but doing it during a global pandemic is even harder.
@GKO900 825gb. That was one of the first things confirmed. Game size similar as ever 40 - 100gb, possibly a bit more as things go but theres also compression and the system not needing to install everything, don't play multiplayer? Don't install it then. Also with how fast the SSD is the games will install and uninstall so much quicker it will be less of a hassle if you need to clear, install or reinstall things..
@Milt. No they not.you trolling yourself.sony can take all the time they want.its coming out this year right.finish your ps4 backlog of games.watch some movies .sports nba playoffs is on.chil with tour girlfriend or wife.if you dont have none go get yourself a girl.to many things going in the world now playa.be patient and have fun chief.word up son
This whole waiting game for either Playstation or Xbox to go first on price is just silly... it's been proven on multiple factors that the Ps5 is the favoured console. So Sony have nothing to lose with revealing this information NOW...
To much about the controller it seems. We just want to see the 'NEXT-GEN GAMES' in action. Well I do anyway in adverts
@Tonito2102 ok, maybe copying will be faster, but install will still be as fast as optic drive speed.
I got an e-mail last week to sign up for the pre-order alert e-mail from Sony. So hopefully we're close.
@JohnKarnes Launch details for the Switch weren't announced until 6 weeks prior to release. I don't think we need long hype periods anymore. Everything happens so fast these days, a few weeks notice is more than enough.
"Sony's released a new 30 second PS5 advert, which attempts to sell the next-gen console which has neither a price nor a release date."
Fixed the first sentence for ya. π
Just made me go and check my email to see if I had a Pre-order invite from SONY π π
@Octane Wasn't the Switch only officially announced like 6 weeks before launch though? π (Not counting Iwata saying the Wii U's predecessor was already underway 3 years before launch to cut done on the sting of the GungHo news.)
Seriously though, the first word from Nintendo of any kind about Paper Mario Origami King was literally 2 months before release, and that was a full $60 game starring Mario, so Nintendo isn't really a good company for comparisons, they are the proverbial secretive monk on the mountain top.
So slow this next gen in showing off ps4 Feb 2013 they had shown console and ui and specifics it could do, suspend/resume etc and a price at e3, this year just a look at the console and tease at the start up. Ui not finished yet to even show us?
@Agramonte It was sent August 26th. I thought it was wide spread, but it appears from my buddies, it's been only 2 who received it. My fault. I have no idea why or how I got it.
I have been saying I expect it to be Β£550..........however some new information has led me to believe it will be Β£600 pre orders.
@Tonito2102 - i keep forgetting about this change for next gen.i am going to LOVE not having to install MP for games if i don't play it. thanks for reminding me about this - ps5 can't come soon enough.
@hoffa007 - did '13 have a world-wide pandemic? did you notice there was NO e3 this year?
I'm not bothered with the exact price and release date. We all know more or less and have an idea. Just wait for Ms and price it cheaper.
What we need is the line up and know when these games release. Like just say this one at launch, this one couple months later etc
@get2sammyb good point sammy. in reply to milt.
@Snackfood - i got it too. if i get a preorder opportunity from sony, i'm not going to question it either - just hit that "confirm" button as fast as i can.
@eddie429 Yeah, just give me a button to press and take my money. I'm not first day on a lot of things, but consoles have always been my weakness.
@rjejr true. and i'm preordering a ps5 as soon as i can.
@Snackfood - i've had 3 emails from sony in the last month. one for the 10 dollar ps store credit. one that said preorders would be starting "soon". and the last was for me to confirm i'm interested in getting a preorder.
i'm sure hoping "soon" means in the next couple weeks.
@Tonito2102 Thanks for the info, I hope that what they say itβs true otherwise itβs gonna be a nightmare like it is with the PS4 to deal with that small memory (honestly I thought that was a joke I mean not even 1 tb)
@Carl-G - i';m really hoping for some demon souls gameplay (and a look at the new UI) when sony has more info to give us.
@get2sammyb - ageed. while i'm glad sony continues to say ps5 is coming this year - i feel it'll be an amazing logistical achievement when they pull it off. (fingers crossed!)
@JohnKarnes - THE craziest thing to me: 60 days from launch and MS has not shown ONE game running on seriesx hardware. that, to me, is mind-boggling.
Can I get an advert to tell me when the next advert is please? There's a saying and I think it's very applicable to Sony right now s*** or get off the pot.
@Snackfood - i'm 55 and well off financially. it takes a lot to get me real excited; and, i thought i was real excited for the ps4 launch......but this ps5 has me as excited as when i was 10 years old on the day before christmas!
@rjejr Yeah, but the PS5 has already been revealed too, right?
Switch was announced in late 2016, just that one trailer. And a January Direct announcing all the details.
@GKO900 the 825 is something to do with how its so fast. Im not a tech head but it matches the hardware on it or something and was the optimum size.
Theres no doubts about how fast it is, its ridiculous. And the ps4 'copying' phase won't be a thing anymore so yeah im not overly worried about the size of it. Might force me to finish games and keep the backlog down..
@eddie429 well pandemic or not im sure if xbox can show off their ui for the series x etc im sure playstation have something? They have been slow and im sure you know that yourself.
@get2sammyb Oh, i understand. But it makes people hard to plan their budget when we don't even know how much it will cost.
@Octane Yeah, but Nintendo fans are kinda of used to that, Sony fans are used to a steady flow of news for a year. At least.
Add to that a pandemic, and the console sounding not cheap, well at least 1 of them, 1 of them might be cheap, and you get a lot of tension in the air, and the ether(net).
@eddie429 Well I guess it's working then.
@Snackfood Oh, so it already happened.
Well I'll be trying as a "mere humans" on opening day I guess. Setting my expectations low on getting one.
Do not care about phones or random gadgets. But always try and get gaming consoles on Day 1.
I be playing on my pc with the 3090 rtx . Consoles are outdated tech lol
@Octane The real truth is there is no reason to know the price of something you can not buy. But still I am as eager to learn it as everyone else.
@eddie429 I don't think about MS unless I read it in someones post. However I do hope someday they will do something that make me take notice. At that time I would own one also.
@hoffa007 Series X UI is coming to XB1 before Series X though, that's the real reason they announced it.
@JohnKarnes yea, i'd like to see MS compete. more good games isn't a bad thing - i just don't see it happening. they've been in the console business for 17-18 years. ori, L4D, and gears are the only games that have interested me.
@rjejr d it is. and it's a good feeling for sure. i think the pandemic has a lot to do with it too - ps5 is one of the few good things to happen this year.
