Demon's Souls PS5 Apparently Went Gold Last Month

Any news of a CE yet? This is one I'd splash out on. It's a really important game to me.

I hope Sony does one more State of Play before November that focuses solely on the first-party launch titles.

I’m so excited for this. I’m surprised Sony isn’t making a bigger deal out of it though. You’d think they’re want the “gone gold” tweet and all that to feature a lot side other first party games.

I saw a lot of concern over both this and Watch Dogs getting delayed just because there was no tweet that said "our game has gone gold." People need to realize that most games don't come out and say they went gold. Only a few each year do that. If Demons Souls had any chance of being delayed then Sony wouldn't have announced it as a launch title a little over a month before the console came out.

Love the graphics, might pick it up when I see more gameplay. I'm sure I'll see the ""You Died" screen far too many times 😁

Really looks incredible, but I don't think I'll have the patience.

@Amppari they're wasting an opportunity. GoS and TLoUII had special editions I didn't care for, but Demon's Souls. Man I'd love a trinket.

@AdamNovice It’s a big mistake to use a spin-off game thats on PS4 for the PS5 launch. It doesn’t scream next gen that much. Demon’s Souls does and attracts a core gaming audience, the king to buy at launch. It looks so much more advanced and clean than Miles Morales because it’s a pure next gen game.

@Axelay71 You won’t need much patience with the loading times from the SSD now. Just get right back in the action.

As exited as I am to play this, I'm waiting for a price drop. $70 is not an acceptable price point for me. I'm just not paying that for ANY game, ever.

What does go gold mean? I thought going gold meant something had sold a certain amount.

@Jysoe77 I'm probably waiting with next gen until 2023, when there's probably a PS5 slim and tons of cheap games. My 1080p tv from 2014 will probably also have been replaced with a newer 4k tv by then.

I really don't know about this one... I never finish Souls games cause I don't have time to die 10 times at the same boss with my huge backlog xD but at the same time this and Godfall are the only real next gen games we will have at launch....

Yes the SSD is a game changer, but still not convinced its my type of game. If it was more Old school God of War, Bayonetta then for sure. But it seems like to much levelling up, grinding.

@Jaz007 both are. Look it up. So far the only games that aren't mentioned to be PS4 bound are Gran Turismo 7 and Godfall.

@Jysoe77 That is just an error that Hungarian online retailer made. There was already a fiasco where Demon’s Souls was incorrectly labeled during one of the PS5 showcases, and it was since clarified that Demon’s Souls is not crossgen, PS5 only.

@Axelay71 If it would be your first Souls-like game, I can tell you its not the same type of combat as older God of Wars or Bayonetta. There is no combo meter, juggling your opponents, or anything like that. Its a slower and more methodical pace of combat.

But I think there are at least some similarities. In God of War, you dont level up Kratos, but you do have to level up his weapons and magic abilities. Not much different than leveling up a characters stats. Also block is used often in God of War, and shields are important in Demon’s Souls.

@Jaz007 there's actually much more places than say it's PS4 bound than just that one spot. It is coming to PS4. I just didn't want to post a bunch of links. So far my first PS5 game is going to be the Spider-Man package that comes it part 1.

I beat. Demon souls couple years ago on my ps3.it was the easiest souls games to me.cant wait to play again.word up son

@Jysoe77 what sources? Either way, it's graphically one of the most impressive things at launch. If a PS4 version is coming, its more than likely a down-port and will come with significant compromises. Still feels like you are basing this off of nothing, everything that has been shown about Demons Souls state it's a PS5 only game.

This really is the best Playstation launch in history IMHO. Sony should be given a lot of props for not just relying on 3rd parties this time. If everything announced hits the first year, then even more impressive. Horizon/GT7/Ratchet/DS/Sackboy in the first year is just silly. God of War would be icing on the cake.

@Revengercm yeah, the launch line up isn't great. I pre ordered Valhalla, Sackboy (to play with my daughter, and because I actually like the look of it lol), and Cyberpunk.

I'm more excited at the potential of RDR2 playing better tbh.

@Jysoe77 - This is the first time I've heard of DeS coming to PS4 but thinking about it, it seems plausible. Souls games are extremely niche so putting it on PS4 with its massive player base makes financial sense. Better to get a few million sales than a few hundred thousand. Time will tell if it happens.

Have they said if they're making the game more user friendly of just updating the graphics? One of the big things I remember about the game was how unintuitive some of the systems were.

@oldschool1987 I've got to say I've been put off by the £70 prices and especially for a remake, even more so when you consider the likes of Assassin's Creed and Cyberpunk which are much cheaper and will have free upgrades. I've never played Demons Souls before so I bought it on PS3 for £15 instead

@oldschool1987 It is all subjective. Vallhalla is not even worth 20 for me, maybe not even as a free ps plus game, but demon souls is worth 70 for me. One will be quality, the other will be generic open world filling I do not have the time to waste.

My time is limited, so I can only play quality games, but that is just me.
An example is me not playing any cod that was given free with ps plus.
It is why I am bothered with gamepass and the excuse for the game not being goty quality because it is basically free on gamepass.

.. for all my complaining at Sony... (and with just cause, I mean take a look at the new online store!).. their launch line-up is amazing... for a new console... it's not just the PS5 exclusives (DS, Sackboy, Astrobot, etc.) - it's the AAA big-hitters that will be improved (Watchdogs, Valhalla, Cyberpunk, etc.) - and then there's (for me) the sleeper hits like Planet Coaster and Fuser which give amazing dip in/out longevity... you compare this to the XB1X launch (which I did consider getting at the same time) - and there's just nothing there to excite! 4 weeks to go and I cannot wait... sure there'll be teething problems, but you have to expect that as an early adopter!

Genuinely getting excited now! (especially after seeing the amazing UX)

@carlos82 the prices are criminal, but I've bought DS and Spidey Ultimate as physcial purchase, so I will trade in and get half it back (as I've already played / completed DS before so it shouldn't take too long - it's not the longest game in the world, quite short to be honest!) then they can be traded in for PSN vouchers or whatever later down the line!

And if you think it's ok to go from charging £50 a game to suddenly £70 a game, if you think that large jump in price is acceptable then more power to you, I guess 🤷‍♂️ I see the prices of Cyberpunk, Valhalla and all Microsoft games on game pass and think Sony is being arrogant and greedy again. From $60 to $70 seems like a fair price increment. But £50 to £70 in the UK is us being shafted, that's $90.

That being said I'm happy you think it's the greatest launch line up of all time, that's nice to hear but I was on about my opinion, not yours.

And Gears 5 was free on Games Pass. How isn't that goty quality?

It depends. If I see way better games and not just more of the same, I could accept it. We will see. Demon Souls looks more power demanding than ps4 games, so I can accept it. I actually think that is the best game in that first week of release. I expect it to be the highest metacritic score game, including c2077.

Every third publisher is greedy by your logic. A misstep making a triple A game these days and the studio might be shutdown. Dead Rising studio, Lionhead and Visceral are examples that come to mind. Gamepass will have to increase in price, when everyone already bit the trap, so they can make bigger budgets to make actual next gen games,

No. Gears 5 is not got material. Especially when gears of war made by epic had way more attention to detail. See crowbcat channel video. Look at the game awards nominees, and there were still stuff like dmc 5, fire emblem three houses and astral chain etc...
It is better than death stranding tho. or Days Gone.

It is also a game filled with mtx to make money back. This is the new xbox way. I am buying one anyways, but I rather take a 10 dollar hit for something more memorable. You get what you pay for.

Maybe if you want more ps4 games, I could see gamepass a good value, but is not what I am looking for.

Demon Souls does look pretty good, but I've already completed the original, I'm in no rush to play it again. Maybe one day. I think Ratchet is the most impressive next gen title, but that's not for launch unfortunately.

Disagree about your opinion on Gears 5, massively. I think it's incredible, and the fact it's included in Game Pass makes it better. Also easily the most impressive looking game this generation, on the One X at least.

I meant it in an objectively manner. I did not play gears 5, so I cannot properly say that I feel that way, but it had a low 80 something score and got beaten in nominations vs games that had similar scores, and then you had games close to 90 or a bit over it that it had to compete with it.

Gears 5 is still a 60 dollar game. Gamepass should not give 5 extra points because of it.

and about the launch games. I personally do think it is a fact that miles, d. all stars, demon souls and sackboy are better than meme knack, resogun and the worst received killzone.

In the 80s isn't a good score? That's a great score. Should try it for yourself. COD gets in the 90s often, they haven't been goty material for a while imo.

Gears cost me £11 to play and finish to completion, alongside Halo 1 - 5, Gears 1 - 5, Doom Eternal, just started Outer Worlds, and I might try Nier Automita, however it's spelt. What value. Definitely £100s worth of games there.

As for launch, I'm not on about exclusives only, I'm also on about multiplats. You seem to be annoyed that I don't agree with you? Why? And Killzone Shadowfall was amazing, as was Battlefield 4 and Black Flag. Resogun was also very, very fun.

Demon Souls is 10 years old, Spiderman on PS4 was... Fine. So I'm not hyped about the expansion. Sackboy genuinely looks amazing though, I've pre ordered, along side Cyberpunk and Valhalla.

D. all stars just got delayed lol, so that may put under ps2 launch games. Still, a phenomenal first year if they can pull off horizon and god of war in the same year. I am actually thinking they are overkilling their sales between their exclusives for how many they have in just a year... especially without an install base.

I did not say 80 is a bad score, but usually does not reflect goty material unless is a bad year for games. I have bought many 80 rated games. I rarely buy games in the 70s.

Do not have an xbox or gaming pc. No need until Bethesda, if exclusives, which they should be, start to hit.

I just started playing Nier Automata lol. So far, I am liking it. Has a very good sense of mystery for me. Gameplay, as usual for platinum games, has been great. Gamespass is great. I just do not need it or I want to promote it because it is not for me.

I have an Xbox One X pal, I got it 2 months ago, a mate wanted rid of it, so I took it off his hands. I missed out on Gears 4, 5 and Halo 5 so I've had fun catching up on them lol. Plus the backwards compatibility is a big factor for me, I'm currently replaying RDR as well, it's in native 4K, it looks amazing for an old game!

Apart of me really wants to preorder it.. but I've never played a souls game before! Literally torn. I know it's reviewed well in the past and very well respected. I wish there was a demo.
