Random but welcome nonetheless: Capcom has revealed three new Resident Evil Village screenshots via IGN. One features the werewolf-like enemy spotted in previous trailers for the PlayStation 5 title, another is what looks like a shot of a ruined castle, and the most interesting one includes a new enemy. Wielding some sort of bloody hammer, the monster has let its hair run wild as it grows out its face. Not the best look if we do say so ourselves, but you do you.
Speaking with the online outlet in question, producer Peter Fabiano said: "We’re really excited for fans to experience Resident Evil Village when it comes out in 2021. We feel it’s an accumulation of all the best elements of Resident Evil games from the past 25 years, with everything fans love about action-infused survival horror plus new surprises. Of course, there are plenty of puzzles to solve and mysteries to unfold."

This looks awesome.
Bloodborne 2 finally coming.
I just wish there was a third person option.
Lately I feel very sick playing first person games.
It's a shame as I have all RE's but may have to miss out on this one.
The executioner from RE5 is looking a little fuzzier than I was expecting.
@GoodGame agreed i hate 1st person. But 7 was maybe the best 1st person game i have ever played, i usually never buy first person games but now i think 8 will be great. 2021 goty no doubt.
The enemy looks like bloodborne boss, before changing to more horrific beast form lol. Can't wait for this game, I don't like re7 house setting but re8 village setting looks more interesting.
@usaislie I will probably buy it as it's part of the collection.
I may try to play it, but it won't be for long if I do lol.
Only time willl tell.
Looking forward to playing this when it's released, enjoyed 7 although did get a bit silly towards the end. The first part of the game was great though, I would love if they made a proper remake of the original residential evil for ps5, that one is still my favourite one.
Yep sure is. 7 was a masterpiece in horror gaming. Very much looking forward to this.
OOOOOOOH, Elden Ring
Why do i get the impression that capcom want to introduce the leakers to that fella from the first screenshot 🤣
You can tell that guy's been in lockdown, eh? Eh? Lads, I'm saying, you can tell that guy's been in lockdown! With the hair and that.
I'm worried someone is going to spoil the game's ending now that it's leaked.
Really looking forward to this. I’m intrigued to see how Capcom tackle more traditional folklore.
@ShogunRok What are you saying? I looked like that BEFORE lockdown 🤣
Sadly I won't be playing this for the same reason I never played RE7, because it's in first person view. As soon as I knew RE7 was in first person as well as RE8, I had no interest. Resident Evil has mainly been 3rd person and is a 3rd person game to me.
To me it being in first person is no different to any other horror game that's in first person view and the only difference is just that it has the RE name. You wouldn't know there RE if it wasn't for it having the name.
I've had people telling me to give RE7 a chance because it's a great RE game and maybe someday I will but I don't know....
I was never brave enough to finish RE7 so I doubt I'll pick this up, but it looks absolutely fantastic. shudder
@Snake_V5 I had the same worry as you when it was released but after playing it I can assure you that it’s way more Resident Evilish than I anticipated and turned out to be a great experience for me. You may not like it but if your main worry is that it isn’t RE I’d recommend giving it a shot. It translated well to first person and it may surprise you as it did me.
@Snake_V5 What Jimmer-jammer said! At least give the demo a go. Definitely gave me the same vibes as the first game. The only thing I really miss from being third person is having a cool/goofy/sexy/iconic character to look at. Ethan isn't much of a character, with the trade-off being that he's supposed to be YOU (I think) for a fresher take on some scares.
It's going to be on PS4 aswell as ps5
Played the demo of 7. Was very much on the fence. Bought the game on release and really gave it chance (I'm a huge RE fan).
Thought it was boring as hell, the fun had gone down the drain so to speak.
Now I'm even more on the fence with 8 (although it looks a bit more interesting setting wise), I just don't first person view much.
If they made the combat something like in the Xbox 360 classic, Condemned: Criminal Origins, it could be great (it was also in first person, but the combat was mostly brutal melee - a cat and mouse play between you and the enemies).
Might give 8 a chance at a reduced price if they release a PS4 version. AND it runs well on my base PS4.
RE7 was awesome, a modern horror masterpiece and very much typical RE experience. Can't wait for this!
@stinkyx I'll give it a chance.
@Sorteddan They had locked doors to find keys for that's right. But why did they have to make so gross (dead birds on the doors instead of various emblems, the redneck family eating poop - or what it was - and then the black police officer getting his head cut in 2 halfes), it was just too much.
Resident evil never used to be that much about horror (and if 7 is supposed to be good horror, I don't like good horror), but more about being good action games as well, with some good and iconic characters (WTF is Ethan - he has no personality - ok, maybe as wimp - boring main character if you ask me).
RE 7 has very little to do with RE IMO.
Loved all Resident Evil series and can't wait for this one!
@Would_you_kindly I think the last Capcom have said on this so they are trying to get it running on PS4, but it's not yet announced.
@shgamer
Fair enough.
Personally I thought 5 and 6 had moved more towards action rather than survival horror and 7 was a move back in that direction. Being chased around the house by Jack whilst trying to solve the puzzles really took me back to the tension of earlier games.
Agree that Ethan was a bit wimpy and terrified but think that may have been deliberate move away from overpowered kill everything types.
Anyways I liked it and think it revitalised the franchise
@Sorteddan Ok, I was probably a bit too harsh in my views. Also being chased by Jack (I don't even remember that and I did put 7 hours into the game), probably also put me off (I never liked RE 3 that much for the fact of being chased by Nemesis all the time).
But I must say that RE 7 always felt a bit cheap, also in the scares, but mostly the enemy (models) count and the action itself. I personally believe Capcom was in dire straits at the time financially.
RE6 and DMC both underperformed initially and I think they (Capcom), had some years where they were barely scraping by financially (Street Fighter was a Playstation/PC exclusive - Capcom probably got some money from Sony - and still it was released in an underdeveloped form for instance).
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Capcom had some rough years from 2013 and until 2017, where they got a hit with RE 7, riding the Outlast/indie wave of horror games.
And I'm ok with that if that was what it took them to survive (there are rumours of RE Revelations 3 for Switch - really loved the first Revelations, so that would make me very happy if they are true).
And yes, 5 and (especially) 6 had their issues, but they still are pretty good action games (at least sometimes) IMO.
@Would_you_kindly They announced they cancelled the PS4 version about a year ago.
@shgamer RE7 was developed as a VR game and in VR it works great for tension, pacing and unease. One of the best VR experiences I've had. As a flat version tho, it didn't work all that well.
If the shooting is changed to be like how it was in the Not a Hero DLC I'll totally buy, if not I'm gonna skip it for 50 percent of sale.
Hated the combat in RE7. It was such a miserable, clunky drag. Not a Hero was really fun though.
@GoodGame totally agree that RE just feels right in 3rd person. 7 was an amazing game and it didn't really bother me at all playing but the option would be nice. I get terrible motion sickness from certain games and it's nice having the ability to switch
The checkerboarding in pixels is very obvious in the hair
yes yes... this is going on pre order as soon as its available... love my RE
@Party_Cannon what? I need confirmation of that
@fafonio https://www.psu.com/news/resident-evil-8-ps4-version-cancelled-due-to-development-problems-report/
@KidBoruto I guess that cancellation wasnt official as I suspected ;p
@fafonio Indeed, and I'm happy it wasn't official. Plenty of friends that are stuck with PS4/XB1 consoles.
