Unsurprisingly, having already secured the UK’s largest ever launch, the PlayStation 5 was the country’s best-selling console in November 2020. It means that, for only the third time in two years, the Nintendo Switch was forced to settle for second-place. It was a worthy competitor for Sony’s new system, seeing a 63.1 per cent increase in sales year-over-year, but couldn’t quite topple the PS5.
In the country as a whole, 2.38 million boxed games were sold, with both the Switch and PlayStation 4 accounting for the vast majority of them. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the best-selling physical release of the month across all platforms, while Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was the biggest PS5 launch game, outperforming even Activision’s first-person shooter at retail.
Sony dominated accessories sales, too, with the DualSense and Pulse 3D Wireless Headset being the two best-sellers, with the DualShock 4 in third. The Media Remote, DualSense Charging Station, and HD Camera also breached the accessories charts, rounding out a particularly profitable month for PlayStation.

Seems like it's sold a lot more than the Xbox! I wonder how much Microsoft will care though, since they're more focused on selling the Xbox as a service now instead, this may have been around their expectations. Overall, very interesting, and I wonder how the figures will change from here on out.
@BranJ0 Both consoles will be in "sell as many as they ship" territory for a good few months yet.
Sony are definitely going to reverse their decision on the £70 prices I think, Demon's Souls Remake would've sold so much better if it wasn't ridiculously priced.
I am almost certain that the PS5 will win NPD in North America by a huge margin. Switch might win december and January, but as soon as the PS5 stock situation isn't going to be an issue, the PS5 will win every months and the Switch will become permanent second place.
Meanwhile Xbox will be third place 95% of the time with a second place once in a blue moon.
A lot of people have piled up backlog PS4 games they can't play on XboxSX so...
@TheArt funny how we were talking about single player games the other day and already the best selling game on PS5 is Spider-Man and not COD
Ps5 domination.no surprise the 👑 king is here.word up son
I am shocked. Shocked! Well not that shocked
I’m trying to find where you can see the free demos you can download on the menu on the ps5 I think it’s been took off
The bots have done well, the fans not so much.
@carlos82
No one cares about COD
@get2sammyb That's true, I'm jumping the gun a bit, I'm just quite excited to see how the two starkly different tactics of Sony and Microsoft pay off!
@DonJorginho Only the digital versions are holding their price from what I've seen, which is normal.
Disc based PS5 games can be had on eBay from Simply Games trading as Boss Deals for less, most hovering around the £50 mark or even less, in the case of AC Valhalla.
Seeing as I went digital, I've yet to actually purchase and play a dedicated PS5 title as I'm unwilling to pay £70.
I'm waiting for a drop on Dirt 5 and Demons Souls, which @EquiinoxGII has convinced me to try with their previous comment elsewhere on the site .
Cheers!
@carlos82 how is that surprising? I highly doubt COD fans are going to be the ones paying scalpers for a ps5 when they can play the same game on ps4. Both MM and COD are on both consoles and per usual the multiplayer juggernaut is going to be more popular. Once more PS5s become available you'll start to see that third party shift.
@RedShirtRod its not surprising, just that on another post I said about how a lot of Playstation 4's success has been built on single player games and its own in particular but I was told how wrong I was, yet here we are
They would of sold one more if I could of found one.
@Woogy your welcome pal! It's a tough game but definitely worth it. When you get it, hit me up if you need a hand.
I imagine it's the best selling console in most territories (as long as it's been actually released there)... although Xbox is probably much closer in North America.
Well I'm absolutely loving mine - feels way more next gen than was expecting what with the controller and such. Curious if anyone else feels like PS VR games are running much better than Pro, it could be my imagination but everything seems way less grainy using PSVR on a PS5, anyone else notice this?
Congratulations, again !
producing = selling = 0 stock
Loving my ps5. Looks lovely next to the Christmas tree
