Blizzard has officially confirmed the existence of the long rumoured Diablo 2 remaster. It's called Diablo 2: Resurrected, and it's coming to both PS5 and PS4 at some point later this year. As you'd expect, this is a full HD revisit, and it includes the Lord of Destruction expansion. It also has cross progression across PC, PlayStation platforms, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch.
You can get a decent look at the remaster in the trailer that we've embedded above. The visual overhaul is immediately noticeable, and the gameplay's still classic Diablo 2.
Did you play the original Diablo 2 all the way back in 2000? Will you be looting your way through Resurrected? Pick your class in the comments section below.

I just hope it’ll be split screen.
Diablo 2: Diablo 3 Edition
Should've been a remake with more finely tuned combat, looks pretty dated nowadays, I'll still buy it but a game 20 years old needs more then just a fresh coat of paint
I've never played Diablo but I feel like I could get into it. I'm tempted to grab this and see what it's all about.
Can’t wait! - used to play the original on PC but was awful at it as a kid.
Great news, looks legit. I’m all over this.
I poured countless hours into D3. I got the Platinum three times lol. I can't wait!
Diablo II: Reforged
According to Eurogamer there is 8 player online co-op but no local, and Vicarious Visions are developing.
This looks insanely good. Sounds like they learned their lesson after Warcraft. Super hyped. Last time I preordered a game was 11 years ago, looks like I’ll be getting another!
NINJA APPROVED
I Have no Memory's Of This One Only the Original And 3 So i Look forward to Trying It Out.
20 years? Man it feels like yesterday when it was new. And LoD is a modern game in my mind.
@Subsided They gave us a remake. It was called Diablo 3. We rejected it.
Like the title of this article 👌
I'll definitely play this, also the graphics upgrade are nice 😃
@NEStalgia I just think the movement and combat look unrefined, in the sense that it doesn't seem to make use of the full 360 degree movement but instead uses angles of attack and movement.
Also Diablo 3 at the end of the day was a massive hit, people don't like change but it clearly grew on people
@Subsided Diablo 3 is a very different game built on different concepts. It's a mess though. Loot balance is a mess, economy is a mess. Nobody pays diablo for the story, but Liah=Kerrigan was just kind of lame.
Combat to me seems more moba based, while d2 seems almost shmup+arcade brawler based. Dated, yes, and thats reinforced by that 8 direction octogate movement design.
Ultimately it's two different games from two different teams, with two different ideas of how the game should play. I did enjoy d3 as well, but I'n all honesty i liked it because it was pretty and on consoles after I switched back to console from PC. D2s gameplay, dated or not was just solid. We tend to forget that diablo 2s graphics were horrifically dated back when it was new, too. (Sprites are 640x480! Buy the expansion to upgrade to 800x600!) This is a game that launched after most games were on the quake 3 engine... And people ran them at 1600x1200. I see your point but d3 was basically the d2 remake. If they were going to remake d2 to play more like d3 and "modern", why not just play d3?
I've only ever played Diablo 3 and I thought it was great. I had no idea that many disliked it because it changed so much from the earlier games.
I loved the original Diablo as a kid despite not being very good at it. Enjoyed Diablo 3 when it came out on PS3 and then absolutely loved playing through it with a friend on PS4. We must have played it for hundreds of hours in the end.
Diablo 2 slipped me by because I never had the opportunity to play it on PC, so this is really exciting. About a year ago I went back to Diablo and completed it and thought about doing the same with Diablo 2, but I'm glad I waited now.
2000+ hours in Diablo 1 (PC)
1000+ hours in Diablo 1 (PSX)
4000+ hours in Diablo 2 (PC)
1500+ hours in Diablo 3 (PC)
1000+ hours in Diablo 3 (PS3)
2500+ hours in Diablo 3 (PS4)
... I think this Diablo 2 Resurrected will be my first PS4 "day one" buy.
One of my favourite games of all time, will deffo bet getting this. Remember downloading the 100mb beta 20 years ago, it took 24 hours on our terrible dial up connection! 😆
My big brother must've sunk thousands of hours into Diablo games, especially D2, but it was never my thing.
Also it's funny how the remastered graphics are kinda how you remember the original game Anybody else getting that?
I love diablo 3..played it on my pc and ps4..loved diablo 2 just as much..i never understood the hatred that d3 has to endure because it was different and tried to appeal to a wider player base..haters gonna hate because its hip and people will be sheep and follow the herd because they just cant be comfortable liking something that isnt in vogue...bring on the diablo..
