Sony has announced a new, next-gen PlayStation VR headset for the PlayStation 5 – but it’s not stopping there. The platform holder has also confirmed that it’s busy engineering new controllers for its virtual reality device, and that it will “incorporate some of the key features found in the DualSense wireless controller”. That screams haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to us!
The company continued that the new motion control pads will have a “focus on great ergonomics” as well. Hideaki Nishino, a senior vice president of platform planning and management, said on the PlayStation Blog: “That’s just one of the examples of future-proof technology we’re developing to match our vision for a whole new generation of VR games and experiences.”
For the original PSVR, the Japanese giant recycled dated PlayStation 3 technology for its motion control solution, which has aged poorly. We’re anticipating a much more accurate solution for PS5, with added immersion from features like the aforementioned haptic feedback. What are your hopes and dreams for the next-gen PSVR controller? Let us know below.

Cool. I hope the controllers are bundled with the headset. Those move controllers are notoriously hard to find.
Hopefully the tracking is a lot better and they’re also a bit easier to connect to PC.
If I take features and feel into account the Dualsense is the best controller I've ever used, If these new VR games fully use adaptive triggers and haptic feedback then I will be a early VR adopter (assuming it isn't a bloodied victim to scalpers).
I could imagine a ball-like controller that could actually provide resistance when squeezed to give the feeling of holding something other than the actual controller.
I'm dreaming, right? This is fantastic news. Still can't believe they actually went with Move controllers for the first iteration but I'm eager to see and feel the massive jump in controller quality.

It's great to have this announcement. Excellent news. But still going with a Move type controller is quite disconcerting. Hopefully that's not the case.
Does everyone still want to play VR in the dark? Having used Touch controllers for the last two years has ruined me on the Moves.
I'm very cynical, obviously.
Gran Turismo 7 being delayed until 2022 will surely mean VR support included. Hopefully.
Aww, my PS3 motion controllers that I bought to play Heavy Rain on that system will finally be retired after using them with PSVR, haha. This is fantastic news!
I was expecting an announcement next year but good to hear this!
As long as they have inside out tracking and sticks, I don’t care too much about haptics in their current form.
It would be so easy for them to just add an analogue stick to the move controller
@theMEGAniggle 👍
@Octane haha, wouldn't be the first time Sony is "inspired" by a motion controller.
@SirRealDeal Well would you look at that
