It's the video game industry, so of course you've got to tease your impending announcement as much as possible in the days leading up to it. The next Battlefield game, which is being referred to as Battlefield 2042 if recent claims are to be believed, is being teased across social media sites with short clips that do not really reveal anything whatsoever in the lead up to the announcement trailer.
The official Battlefield Twitter account got the party started with a quick tease (embedded below) indicating systems are rebooting, with a progress bar hovering at 10 per cent.
Then the official Xbox handle tweeted shortly afterwards a follow up that increases the progress bar by another 10 per cent. It doesn't show anything besides glimpses of colour, so you're not really missing out on anything by not watching them.
At least we now know the next Battlefield game will be revealed through a trailer this Wednesday on YouTube. It'll simply premiere, and then we'll bring you the news straight afterwards here on the site.

can't wait to leave the COD franchise for good, hopefully... MW was great until they decided to shove that Cold War trash down our throats
Would love a good BF campaign I can play co-op online with my brother. But not holding my breath.
Running around maps trying to get kills - to then do it again - has never been for me.
At this point do these games even need to be released with a price tag? It’s all multiplayer so just make it pay to play and leave the real gamers alone by stopping bothering us with this *****
@Total_Weirdo 6 hours if you’re lucky and it won’t even be a campaign just a few fragmented solo missions with basically nothing in common or linked with each other
I got into Battlefield with the Bad Company series. And that multiplayer always put a huge emphasis on destruction, which is what set it apart from everything else (for me). Being able to bring down a building or blow a hole in a wall to reveal a sniper was just peak multiplayer bliss for me.
When the subsequent games scaled back on the destructive elements, the series lost what made it special to me. If they don't bring back a much more robust destruction system than I've seen from the more recent games, I'll be skipping this yet again.
@ElMarko DICE is utterly incapable of weaving together a meaningful narrative lately. All they do is think up set pieces that highlight mp elements like specific vehicles and then they slap a "story" onto it and let you mess around for a little. They're so so bad nowadays. At least a few years back they'd try to make something cohesive.
Hope this battlefield turns out great. I got tired of Modern Warfare after season 3 wasn’t having fun anymore so ended up trading it. BF1 was good but I enjoyed playing BF4 which was my introduction into the BF series. BFV I had no interest in another WW setting. Looking forward to Wednesday.
@MFTWrecks 100% agree..bad company 2 is the best in the bf series..that game was epic and so much fun..none of the recent games have even come close to how damn good that game was..
@MFTWrecks yep. These games and and any games like it that are based around multiplayer are always auto skipped by me. There’s no need to even release them. They should be free online and just be consistently updated and upgraded and players charged some sort of fee to play. Leave the rest of us out of their ***** show
@ElMarko I've yet to understand why more multiplayer shooters haven't adopted Fortnite's model.
Release as F2P, charge for seasonal battle passes and skins. Print money.
As it stands, they operate that way, except they also charge an added "access fee" every year for $60-70 for the newest new stuff.
@xRetrox my thoughts exactly...
What I find most surprising is how clunky the movement is in Battlefield V, movement was clunky all the way back in Battlefield 1942, I distinctly remember compared to MOHAA or Call of Duty just one year later. At this point why would I assume they’ll be able to finally get their act together for the new Battlefield?
Battlefield 4 is the only game I’ve played multiplayer for many years. I really didn’t get on with the gun play of 1 & V. If the new game plays more like 4, with the visuals of its successors, then I’m definitely sold.
Can't wait for a proper battlefield game. The last good battlefield game which I really really enjoy was battlefield 4 and while battlefield 1 and V are both fun to play, it just doesn't feel a real successor to a battlefield series.
Personally battlefield 2, 3 and 4 were the best battlefield games. I just want modern massive battles without all the sci-fi tech garbage.
Battlefield 1942 was, and always will be, my favourite. Many, many hours online playing that. Even play multiplayer co-op with the kids now and again, they seem to be able to overlook the primitive graphics!
F*ck EA with a rusty pitchfork.
Can't wait!
That's all jeez psquare
