The Viking Age Discovery Tour for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is now available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and it's free for all players. Like the Discovery Tours in previous games, this update lets you explore the open world at your own pace, while interacting with characters and exhibits that detail the history of the time period and its people.
It's also worth mentioning that playing through the Discovery Tour gets you some rewards for use in the main game. A weapon, armour set, and a bunch of cosmetic items are up for grabs.

I like me some Assassin’s Creed but I do find the ‘A Ubisoft Original’ header hilarious. Given, you know, Ubisoft games are anything but original.
More free stuff is always a nice thing.
Great stuff That's my day sorted.
Hasn't this been a feature since Origins? How does it take them a year to roll out an existing feature? Why do people bother buying these games day one? They're not feature complete for ages.
@ShogunRok I'm not clued up on Assassin's Creed despite having played them all... what is this? Is it like playing the game without combat or is it its own thing? How do the exhibits work?
What is this?!
@johncalmc check out the PC reviews popping up (PCGamesN, Gamesradar, etc) for deep dive reviews. I didn't know how extensive this tour was compared to previous, seems very impressive with gaming elements, historical info and behind the scenes on the making of the game. It will be a standalone game on PS in early 2022.
@johncalmc It's basically a separate mode where the open world is repurposed as a kind of virtual museum. You can visit certain locations and get history lessons. In previous Discovery Tours, all of the information was narrated, and you'd get 'articles' popping up on screen that you could read. All surprisingly in-depth and well made.
Any new trophies?
@ShogunRok This sounds like crazy talk. I'll have to give it a go. If it's any good I'll even get back on Origins and wander around Egypt.
I would love to see complete editions from some AC games im not going to start it every time aftee im done.
I'll be interested to see what they say about where i live. Just need to get to that blasted point in the game. 60 hours in and i am only on location 9 of 17 🙄
I was watching a video about the future of Cyberpunk 2077 and it is jarring how CDPR created a game so unfit to receive new content. If you compare with games like Assassin's Creed and GTA. I know it is off topic, but I ask to this day what they were thinking when they were creating that game.
@Rob_230 Yep! I am 90+ hours in, 300 level, and I don't think I am past the halfway point of the campaign (however I did sidetrack and do Wrath of the Druids which was fun and great for leveling)
@frankmcma haha oh no. Dont tell me that 🤣🤣 i am loving the game, but i do want to play something else this year lol. It is great fun though. AC/ubisoft gets a lot of stick, but it can't be denied that they make some great games.
How was wrath of the druids?
@Rob_230 I do take my time and explore a lot (probably too much) while doing the campaign, so don’t go by me! Wrath of the Druids was 25 hours alone, and I got 100 levels out of it. It had some great changes to the main game, building trade ports, different enemies, really was a lot of fun, felt fresh and very enjoyable. It does not really tie in to the main campaign, so it can be done at anytime.
Yes AC and Ubi has a lot of haters, mostly from people who don’t play them, but the games have such great depth and are so fun.
I’d also recommend Watch Dogs Legion, another hated on game that is my favorite game of 2021
@Rob_230 @frankmcma Oh man you still have MUCH more to do. Heck I still have 3(+1) areas left and now the tour here! So much content! I'm max lvl 466 with 99 Mastery points after that, 185 hours in. I did do Wrath of the Druids and Seige of Paris already. I did take a bit of a few months hiatus early this year though. But I am loving this game and working toward not only the Platinum but 100%! All DLC trophies and 100% each area! So fun! I still need to do River Raids too, waiting until I beat it and make a best gear load out for them! I feel like I'll never boot something else up again haha
Thanks for the reminder that Valhalla has this free mode as well!
It's the first discovery tour I've done,I've completed the first 2 stories, I'm actually really enjoying it and learning some things along the way.
I briefly checked it out yesterday, and I was actually really impressed with how they did the Discovery Tour in Valhalla. I like how it has its own mini-story that you play through, as opposed to just wandering around to different icons like in Origins (although that was also really well done and worth checking out). And the fact that you get stuff for the main game makes it all the sweeter too. This is a really nicely done add-on, and definitely worth checking out for AC fans who are also fans of the historical aspects of the series.
@SmokeBombClock Awesome! Yeah I figure this will be a 200 hour (or more) game for me, still a ways to go. I have taken breaks from it in the past year, jumped to another game for a month and then came back. I do feel like it's such a long game that it works to take a breather here and there.
Mastery points sound great, did not know about them! Of course I need to finish the campaign, do the tour, do the Paris DLC, and then oh here comes year two content!
Looking forward to this. I'm now over 600 hours in and still enjoying this game as much as I did a year ago.
