Nostalgic Train, a mystery game set in the rural Japanese countryside, will release on the PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 25th November, after attracting interest on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Described as a walking simulator, the release includes two modes: the story and a “free roam” option where you can explore the meticulously rendered town of Natsugiri at your own pace.
“The game attracted a great deal of attention on Steam through the Japanese indie game creator Tatamibeya in June 2018 for the quality of its beautifully recreated CGs of the nostalgic Japanese countryside,” the press release reads. “It was recommended by the 22nd Japan Media Arts Screening Committee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.”
There are shades of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture to this, so if you liked that game then you’ll probably find a similar appeal here. Is this something you’re interested in trying?

Sounds like my cup of the tee, since I love train rides through the countryside, very niche.
'Realistic recreation of Japan'
I will now buy your game.
This looks gorgeous and just my thing. I'm a connoisseur of chill-out games. The translation looks quite rough, according to the trailer, but I'm certainly intrigued. Will maybe wait for some impressions.
> Rural Japanese Mystery
Sounds interesting!
> Described as a walking simulator
Sounds bad...
@Milktastrophe if you’re turned off by walking simulator then you must have missed out on some classics previous gen
Looks like this may provide a nice break from my usual looting, shooting, and blowing up stuff.
Wow! I have to try it! I have a soft spot for walking sims. Especially "Rapture", "Ethan Carter" and Firewatch, but I've played numerous. This sounds intriguing! 😊
@BrettAwesome You should try Blackwood Crossing not the most beautifull game but such a cool story.
I’m in! I’ve been muddling through Fuuraiki 4 which lets you tour Gifu on a motorcycle and would welcome another opportunity to play virtual tourist in Japan.
@Jacko11 I've platted/100%'d pretty much all the ones that have been on PS+ and Now. Classically bad, I suppose. They've all been awful and boring. For what it's worth, Soma was the best I've played and Amnesia Collection was the worst.
This looks like my kind of thing. I do like walking sim games.
I was already interested, and then you said, "there are shades of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture to this".
Day one purchase. Good job. 👍
@Flaming_Kaiser
I'll check it out 😊👍 thanks
EGGTR is still one of the very peaks of science fiction, definitely checking this one out.
