Dying Light 2 has been a long time coming, announced all the way back in 2018, but it's now finally on the approach. Techland's open world zombie survival sequel has gone gold and is ready to roll out in February. You want to see a little more of the game before then, though, right? Don't worry — Geoff Keighley's got your back.
The title will be making an appearance at The Game Awards, which is happening in a matter of hours:
We'll get "a new look" at Dying Light 2 during the awards ceremony, but exactly what this will be remains to be seen. Presumably it'll be a gameplay trailer to get fans all jazzed up ahead of release, but we'll see for ourselves soon enough.
Are you excited to see this game during The Game Awards? Stay in the light in the comments section below.

And hopefully the PS5 60fps update patch for DL1 will also be officially dated and even maybe released.
Looks like mirrors edge with zombies, pretty cool. I've had my finger on the trigger button to buy the 1st game but I'm not good with horror. Can anyone tell me if it is scarier than something like the sewers section in The Last of Us?
Are the games connected enough, that I need to play the first?
I’m getting fed up of asking for a 60fps patch
I did start playing the first one but I honestly could not handle the low fps. It felt so disorientating. If they release a 60fps patch I'll probably revisit it. DL2 looks fun but I'm still not sure these games are for me.
@GorosBat It's definitely not as scary as some of the sections in TLOU (the generator section after falling down the elevator shaft comes to mind). Dying Light is more action focused than horror. It's worth picking up as you can probably get it for quite cheap now
@GorosBat come on dude they’re zombies. Not so much horror, as a pestilence that sidetracks you from priorities and we all know those people right? ..right. Put a flatended sledgehammer through their skull and continue going about your day
@BenGar97 Thanks to you and @systemaddict I will now cave in and buy the platinum edition next time it goes on sale (It has 20 pieces of dlc WHAAATTTTT!!!!) Zombies scare me still even after watching the 1st 9 seasons of The Walking Dead, probably because of jump scares. I had no problem playing Days Gone (machine gun go brrrrr). What should really scare me the most is having to do the online related trophies as I'd doubt that many people still play this, although I could probably just boost these on psnprofiles.
@GorosBat It depends on the time of day in that game. During the day everything is well lit and most zombies are quite slow and docile, except from some more aggressive ones that appear if you make a lot of noise.
During the night though, the city gets really dark in places and super-zombies (can't recall their name) appear that take forever to kill and will pursue you even when you climb high above the streets. It can get a bit scary/thrilling!
Overall I'd say the scare factor is about 3/10 at day, 6/10 at night. You are always armed in this game and usually have a lot places to flee to.
10/10 would be Alien Isolation in VR while really high.
@Perturbator So is there any benefit to staying up at night? e.g better loot, item drops or better experience. I'd imagine that the first time you face alphas would be scary, but if they are super bullet spongey they'd just get annoying. so, if there is no benefit, I will just play in the day time as in open world games, you're supposed to get stronger through the course of the game up till the point of having the power fantasy, which I enjoy in games (like in Hades, I've got the plat yet I still play the game daily with the aspect of Chiron on the Heart seeking Bow, you melt through everything like butter and can completely turn off your brain and listen to a podcast)
Ever time I see this I get less excited personally. The world looks like a nice playground, with lots of little compact details...the characters look just dated in it by contrast. Animation in cutscenes look dated. Facial animations look dated. But I can look past that and enjoy a game. The writing and acting though...I'm not sure if that's going to get on my nerves. They have Nolan north in this? Why? Do we really need yet another game where he sounds exactly like Nathan Drake...have we not had enough of that last two gens?
The combat looks decent. They're going to over play the glider (I guess it's this games grapple hook). But I'm not yet sold on the rule of three gameplay against a timer if that's going to be a prominent thing... hopefully not.
@GorosBat coming from someone that’s not super big on survival horror or horror in general, I can tell you, it’s not that bad outside of the night segments and dark areas because of how gameplay changes up. Outside of a handful of story missions, most of the time that stuff is optional, although some side quests that have cool items may require you to venture out at night.
It’s more like the Walking Dead where the zombies move fairly slowly for the most part as long as you don’t make loud noises (i.e. use guns/grenades).
@GorosBat Ok I had to look this up (been a while since I played) but you get double XP, can find an nighttime airdrop, and there are a type of non-aggressive zombies you can kill for precious materials during nighttime.
If you have a friend or two to play with, I would absolutely recommend this game. One of the better coop experiences I had on PS4!
@Futureshark Hopefully so! I've been waiting for a PS5 patch before I start playing.
