Naughty Dog Dying to Share Its Multiple Game Projects in Production for PS5, PS4

While I love uncharted and TLOU I think ND is my least favorite of the SIE first party studios.

I want to know what pixolpus is working on.

A TLoU remake would be like reliving my kid's childhood. I want to look after Ellie all over again and make all the same choices Joel did all over again.

@darkswabber Yes, it will be fascinating to see what the collaboration with Sony Pictures animation becomes.

The biggest recent release under their umbrella is into the spiderverse, but i can't see them doing something related to that whilst insomniac are working on Spidey.

I guess it will be something new thay can also be spun into a tv show / movie under the playstation productions banner?

@Integrity this is no offense meant, but I don’t understand why anyone wants a remake when it’s already an hd title on PS4. I would much rather them make something new. I don’t think games that are already in HD need remakes. Just up resing works fine.

They need to stop “remaking” games for newer gens that are just an up-res of PS3/PS4 games. What was once my favorite studio of Sony is quickly becoming my least favorite. A new IP that’s just a fun game and not trying to be an SJW adventure would be great.

@RatmCky no problem mate, no offense would be taken 😊 its not that i want it but of they're making it i love the game, and Joel and Ellie, that much that I'm interested in seeing how the remaster ends up.

Considering how incredible ND games are to look at I'm excited to see what a PS5 game can be like beyond a PS4 touch-up. If they can make Ellie even more wonderful I want to see it 😁 it's my all-time favourite game and not just because it's a good game but because it made me care about Joel and Ellie more than I've ever cared about anything in a game. To me they were practically real so I'll always be happy to see them in whatever guise ND produce.

It's all about the pricing. If the remaster gets priced sensibly then I'm happy that it's getting made. It's not like we have to buy it.

I'm currently replaying The Last of Us Part II at present and still blown away by it. Naughty Dog truly are the masters of their craft, ignore the boorish haters out there.

As for their future projects...all about the new SP games, would love a Part III but wouldn't be against something new. Whatever they do, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I just want to see what they’re doing with Factions. I’d be happy to play a remake of the first game or if they just removed the need for online to get the platinum.

@RatmCky spot on. The Remakes part though applies to all of playstation in general. I still don't see the reason why I should buy a ps5. its just a bunch of remakes.

@DotM That's simply not true though. They've released lots of new games with plenty more on the horizon.

@DotM we've just had 2 weeks of lists of amazing games to play on PS5. It doesn't mean you should want a PS5 but it does mean you're wrong about it being just about remakes. And 2022 is even better, and that's without PSVR2.

@darkswabber this is understandable, Uncharted is very precious to me and will always be but what other studios are doing right now from spiderman to returnal all of them are more appealing to me than the direction the last of us 2 had.

@Rob_230 I'm still thinking it is a Spiderverse game, Spider-Man games sell well and Sony probably wants to get a lot out in the wild. No different to Sonys film strategy, they have the MCU Spider-Man, the animated Spiderverse as well as the Sony Marvel Universe

I don't have faith they could continue to make a decent Uncharted game anymore. Best to either keep the series ended or hand the reigns to another studio. As for anything Last of Us oriented, I have no interest.

@dudeAmarillo yeah, ND does make stuff I like but their recent cockyness + other SIE studios having just more varied and interesting output makes it the studio I’m the least curious about atm.

If the TLOU remake rumours are true that will only get worse. That game does not need a remake yet, there’s so many more sony IP’s from ps1, ps2, psp, ps3 and psvita that deserve a remake first.

@RatmCky I still suspect the remake is to make the characters more in line with the upcoming show. That's really the only reason i can see for a remake this soon.

Tlou 2 didn't even make it to my top 15 games of the ps4 gen, but I still think they're are still just as good.

I think tlou remake is a waste of time. It's so recent and still mechanically advanced compared to other ps3 games.

I agree with a lot of people in the comments- a TLOU remake would seem like wasted potential. I enjoyed both games and the Uncharted series but I think ND should focus on a new IP.

Honestly at the point where I have little to no interest in anything ND comes out with, think they absolutely peaked at UC2 and haven't got anywhere near it since. Having said that, it's always an absolute graphical showcase at the very least.

They went an entire generation without a new ip so I hope all the projects are new ips, let TLOU and Uncharted rest in the Sony vault till at least the PS6.

@Juanalf I agree. After horizon, ghost, god of war and spiderman sequels, all of the blockbuster studios should make a new ip. Even Bluepoint and Housemarque.

They should just go full on and make a game where you play as extremely muscular Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders clones and rip out hearts and blow up heads. Call it Fist of the Lefty Star. I’d play that.

I just want a new IP from ND I love their games but we haven't had a new IP from them for an entire console gen it's time

I'm personally only interested if they're making a new IP. Preferably something lighter than The Last of Us.

@RatmCky it's sarcasm.the game is nowhere near a sjw game. Have you seen a film that it's sjw. It talks about women being just as good or sometimes stronger than men etc. The game is not even about that. They chose to have two female main characters. That's it!!!

Maybe, just maybe, devs just want two female leads just because. Same thing with Horizon. There are plenty of created male characters that some studios want to do something different and a lot of people jump on it. Just like open world games or third person instead of first person like sony games.

I still view Naughty Dog as the most impressive studio today and can't wait to see what they have in store. It took a few playthroughs of TLOU2 to truly realize how amazing the experience was.

The Last of Us Part II is a fantastic game, I genuinely feel sorry for anyone that didn't enjoy it.

Naughty Dog are head and shoulders above all other developers, Rockstar were once the best but they've become fat and lazy and no longer have the fire. As long as ND ignore the incels and alt-right crazies and continue to make what they want to make, they'll do alright by me and millions of other mature gamers.

They were the undisputed top dogs during the PS3 gen. I’d say they rank third now behind Insomniac and Sucker Punch. Not looking forward to TLoU MP at all. Hopefully they have something big cooking and releasing soon. Come on ND pull your finger out.

@Col_McCafferty I think insomniac have overtaken them as Sony's best Studio and Guerilla not far behind. I think it's time naughty dog left the last of us and uncharted behind and came up with some new IP's, they have the talent and size to create some new amazing games (just not more marvel ones)

@Scoobijohn it won't have the same impact but knowing the story means I enjoy it even more.

There was a study that showed people got more enjoyment from watching something they'd already seen than watching it for the first time. Because you don't know whats going to happen you have a sense of trepidation, or expectation, that brings with it a different kind of enjoyment, less pleasurable, more intense.

I definetly think that is true. When I've watch a long-anticipated film or played a game, like TloU2, I'm on tenterhooks because part of me dreads what may be to come, part of me doesn't want it to end and I'm also concentrating harder than normal taking it all in.

I find that I get much more enjoyment from watching it all again free from all those burdens, just able to appreciate the story, which further enhances the experience. It's why I've watched some films and shows so many times I could almost recite the script. (I've watched Sherlock a stupid amount of times. And Airplane even more 😁) It's why I've played TLoU more times than any other SP game.

@AFCC I wonder if there is an equivalent pc community that begs Devs to get their games to please not work on older pcs 😂

@RatmCky i doubt they are working on the remake ( if its real) , they are prob out sourcing it. and there is plenty of things they can improve , i mean it was a ps3 game after all. it sounds like they have several projects in the works so they are working on something new , so don't worry.

@AFCC While it's true that a native ps5 will probably always be better than a crossgen I think it would be unwise to just ignore PS4 install base during covid and a chip shortage. These companies won't skimp on PS4 OR ps5 versions and each will top of class for their respective generation expectations.

Them being my least favorite SIE dev doesn’t equate me hating them. Also you can not be fond of the people behind a game and still like their games.
But I simply prefer other studios like BEND, insomniac, pixolpus, sucker punch and santa monica over ND. And that’s ok IMO 🤷‍♀️

Last of Us remake is unnecessary unless they are dong something like VR I guess. I would rather see a new IP or bring back something old like Jak and Daxter.

@RatmCky a TLoU remake could incorporate more story that has been fleshed out for the show. Of the two games it's the better story, but the gameplay is much, MUCH worse than the 2nd game. Improved gameplay and expanded story are the two best reasons for a remake. Upscaling does nothing to change the fundamental experience. RE2 was a great remake example, and Im super excited for the Dead Space remake.

As far as LoU, personally Id love to play Joel during early outbreak when he was a real PoS haha. I'd prefer a prequel to a remake, but Im def interested in a retelling of first game with better gameplay and new gameplay sequences.
