The UK's final boxed games chart for 2021 is in, and as expected, it's hardly a surprising list of titles. FIFA 22 is dethroned, settling for second place after several weeks at number one. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was fifth the previous week, but has clambered up a spot into fourth, with 96 per cent of copies sold being the PlayStation 5 version.
Falling a few places into fifth is Call of Duty: Vanguard, which continues to sell best on Sony's platforms. Assassin's Creed Valhalla makes a big leap back into the top 10, moving from 15th to ninth — and also selling best on PS5. Perhaps these were popular purchases after some lucky folks unwrapped the console for Christmas.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 1st January, 2022

- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Call of Duty: Vanguard

Yep that's definitely a festive list of games right there! I bought 3 of the top 5 as Xmas presents for nieces and nephews!
Just Dance 2022 has sold consistently well. How was that not in the game of the year list? You're all so out of touch, not like me, a dancing queen, young and free, only 17.
I think sony should make more games like miles morales, a $40-50 adventures with 8-10 hours gameplay after the main games. It can be rivet solo adventure (from ratchet rift apart), or maybe a venom stand alone game after spider-man 2.
Goooo, Spidey! He's unstoppable
@wiiware or just wait for the price to drop. I bought Miles Morales on PS5 for £20 and pleased I held out for a fully patched game at a sensible price.
Spiderman MM is amazing and underrated. What a great looking game.
Spiderman is the hottest ip atm,no surprise its back with top dogs whenever new shipment of PS5's comes .If $ony loses some attention trailer for Spidey 2 will put the lights back on them.
its a disgrace that for the holidays the only descent game on ps5 was a 6 month old DLC essentially.
Sony really dropped the ball with the release schedule over the last 6 months. we didn't have a single AAA blockbuster for the holidays.
@Denni5m
Did you miss the memo? There has been a worldwide pandemic for the last 2 years. Meaning most people are working from home. Which, bizarrely enough, has delayed production for many things, including (shock, horror) game development. Without this pandemic GT7 and Horizon FW would have been this holidays blockbusters.
We should be congratulating them on only missing their original schedule by a couple of months.
@Beefy01 That excuse is a load of *****, covid is just a convenient excuse for everyone these days. Software and game development wouldn't have any issues pivoting to work from home. 2-3 months and ok i understand becasue that would be the time to get everyone rolling again and to account for losing people, but some games have blown out by a year now. So even without covid we still would have had most games coming out in 2022 sometime anyway.
