Atlus has launched a Japanese countdown website for something related to Soul Hackers. For those who might not know, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers was an early game in the Shin Megami Tensei series. It originally released for the SEGA Saturn in 1996, and it was ported to PlayStation in 1999. Over a decade later, in 2012, it was ported to the Nintendo 3DS.
So, is Soul Hackers making some kind of comeback? Well, it certainly seems that way, but given Atlus' track record when it comes to announcements, this could be anything. Having said that, a selection of screenshots have popped up on the site over the last few hours, meaning that this is probably a new game.
The real question, then, is whether this Soul Hackers rebirth will make it to PlayStation platforms. Nintendo's systems have long been Atlus' primary target for Shin Megami Tensei titles, and for all we know, this could even be a mobile game.
In any case, we'll know what it is soon enough. The countdown ends on the 21st February at 8PM Japan time — which is 12PM here in the UK. If this does end up being relevant to PlayStation, then we'll have all the coverage right here on Push Square.

Would be cool to see something new but it’s Atlus so it’ll probably be an anime adaptation of Soul Hackers.
Its impossible to logically predict what Atlus will do. Im guessing its a Shin Megami Tensei V dance battle spin off game, coming to all platforms besides Switch (which the original is exclusive too)...because why not?
This will be Switch only again like every new SMT Game (not Remaster) since the PS2 so...better not expect anything for Playstation. According to the Screenshots it also looks like they use many of Vs assets and the same Engine.
@ThorsHammer For SMT its easy to predict, all actual New Mainline and Spin Offs are Nintendo only. Remaster like SMT III are an exception.
A new Devil Summoner game would be amazing, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
If it is a game, it's probably going to be a Japanese-only mobile title.
@nessisonett I actually wouldn't mind a Soul Hackers anime. Not enough non-Persona MegaTen anime adaptations.
Hopefully it's a sequel or a port to console of this and other atlus RPGs
According to Persona Central, a recent Atlus survey referenced a “full remake of Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers”!
Couldn't be a better time for it, given the 3DS port is going to become VERY hard to come by legally in a year.
So where are these screenshots? Maybe it's because I'm on the phone, but I can't find anything.
@Ralizah RIP 3DS and Wii U Eshop.
Even though I never owned those consoles
I won't get my hopes up, everything non-persona goes to Nintendo
Soul Hackers rules so i'm all in on whatever this is.
@Ralizah Gematsu has the Screenshots they released so far and it doesnt look at all like the 3ds Game tho. Or the first one that was never translated in anyway

@Ralizah I'd also be down for an anime adaptation, easier for me to consume than the games.
