New PlayStation Studios recruit Bungie is preparing to launch Destiny 2: The Witch Queen later this month, and to get a better understanding of what to expect, the team has issued a new ViDoc detailing everything there is to know. Pitched as the "definitive Destiny campaign", members of Bungie call it ambitious, mysterious, and surprising. The big expansion launches for PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 22nd February 2022 for £34.99/$39.99.
The ViDoc then outlines the setup of The Witch Queen, introducing main villain Savathûn and those who will come to your aid. The story continues in Season of the Risen, much like past seasons have followed on from DLC drops. The Glaive is a new weapon you'll wield during the campaign, and it too is detailed here. "The Glaive is a projectile weapon and it is a shield and it's a melee weapon," explains designer George Kokoris. Other topics covered are Void subclass updates, weapon crafting, and new exotic armour pieces.

@get2sammyb @liamcroft @ShogunRok ...And so the review lottery begins!
P.S. This is going to be awesome content.
Weapon crafting peaks my interest and glaive looks dope.....
A friend in work had been at me to come back to Destiny for a few months.
After the recent news I figured, why not?
I have to say, I'm having fun in the free version.
@lolwhatno They've changed it so that when you start a new season your gear automatically upgrades to the base power for that season. So even if you bounced off a while back, you're ready to go.
I enjoyed Destiny 2 when it was new, but moved on by the time the first expansion came out. I've been eyeballing that new Legacy Collection to get back in. Destiny/Bungie in the news reminded me of all the good times I've had with that game.
@lolwhatno wow.... I'm over exaggerating.....
Yes I've not seen anything in my life.... Thanks for reminding me..... Sir...
@Shepherd_Tallon I’ve just hopped back in after playing a ton at launch.
I’m having a blast again! I do find it confusing what content is and isn’t available haha. And not a fan of them removing old content like the original raid and stuff.
I’m hoping Sony includes old DLC as a part of PS+ revamp. It’s kind of expensive to get all of it to catch back up haha
I've tried to jump back in to Destiny 2, but I just can't.
I really enjoy Destiny 1 up until you hit max level and they started charging full price for expansions, and I think I dropped off after the Taken King. And I originally tried Destiny 2 when it went free and remember the tower being on fire, but dropped off quickly.
So I boot the game up again, and I'm instantly thrown in to a 6 man firefight for Xur, and I don't know why I'm shooting stuff, I just am. And when I finish that, I kinda left to it. I dont have a clue of anything. I don't know how the story progressed from Destiny 1 or the destroyed tower to being fixed, or what to start next. I have no early campaigns to ease me in because they've been removed. The earliest campaign I can start is the Forsaken, so I start that but again, I'm not given much info of why I'm doing it or why I should care. I'm literally left to learn the changes in skills and mechanics as I'm trying to play through this really bombastic opening level.
I originally tried to Google "how to start Destiny 2 main campign" and found out it's not an uncommon question, and that just feels weird.
I think the removal of the earlier campaigns and any sense of story progression has made the game too awkward to just jump in to.
Unless you are already a massive fan, or don't care for world building, just want to shoot stuff, and have a friend who will show you the ropes, I don't think the current game (and by extension, this new DLC) is going to be something I, or a lot of uninitiated, will find fun to play.
I've had a blast with Destiny since jumping back in at the end of November. Cross save is amazing--it's a trip being able to continue my game on Xbox Series X. I'm more pumped for the new season more than any other game.
I tried to jump back in, though I'd give this new drop a try but I'm lost with where I am what content is ahead. I guess this is close to unavoidable given the content that has dropped in the years since I last played. I dropped back out after an hour or two.
@Richnj @TooBarFoo
Yeah, I can understand. It is really difficult for new players to get into the game mid-year. However, a new expansion launch is a great time to join. You get a new campaign to play and learn the ropes. Once you complete it, you can get into the endgame much more smoothly. As for the past story you can watch the "The story until now" video by either MyNameisByf or MyelinGames on YouTube. They are lore and story experts who release special story recap videos each year near the launch of a new expansion to help people make sense of the story and start with the latest plot arc.
Just got back into it, and really enjoying it.
It’s becoming my go to fps on the PS5 now.
Nope! I honestly loved D2, sank well over 1000 hours into it but I paid Bungie far north of £100 for a game and multiple DLC campaigns I can't even play anymore. New content looks amazing but they'll take it away eventually. Never giving another penny to those scam artists.
@Stragen8 I'm in a similar situation - I've done most of the free missions, and I've just started the Forsaken campaign now.
Going to try plough through that before next week is over, because it's gone on the 22nd, and once Horizon is out I'll be getting stuck in to that.
But, once I'm done with Horizon and Elden Ring I can definitely see myself catching up with the other expansions.
@lolwhatno yo.... Cheers.... Just a fellow gamer.....,🤗
@Kooky_Daisuke - I'm genuinely amazed that Bungie get away with what is basically theft. Their entire D2 business model is one big money scam.
Not played any D2. Not got any friends to play with lol. Im guessing its the kind of game thats better in a squad of friends.
