Sony stealth scheduled a Ghostwire: Tokyo showcase for this evening, and the presentation has now concluded with a good amount of gameplay and interviews with the leads at Tango Gameworks. You can catch a complete repeat of the video above, with the PlayStation 5 console exclusive confirmed for release on 25th March 2022. If you pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition, you'll get to play three days earlier.
The show begins with lots of gameplay capture, sharing what combat looks like before diving into traversal and some of the more supernatural elements. For the second half, the likes of Shinji Mikami are interviewed. We will have more Ghostwire: Tokyo coverage to share with you tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that.

Looks cool, unlike those weird chin shields. Another for the “to get” list!
Lichdom battlemage meets Evil within in a modern Tokyo setting.
I wasn't paying attention to this at all until I watched that showcase. Now I'm considering it.
Doctor strange would have been proud of this.magic looks cool.word up son
From what I've just seen, I feel I'd describe it as style over substance. Once the showcase had uninterrupted gameplay it just took a nosedive off a cliff for me.
I'm liking the visuals of the game and if it's based on the real Tokyo map then count me on board.
Only thing I'm not sure about is the combat and how boring it may get due to repetitiveness especially if there's fights non stop
Looks brilliant. An FPS with a really interesting twist and the animations are way smooth.
It weird to think that if this game ends up being successful due to the Playstation player base... That any sequel won't end up on Playstation.
Looks fantastic, it's right up my alley. Tango Gameworks are still relatively new compared to other studios but have shown great potential with their first three games. Let's see if this one is just as good as The Evil within games.
Looks unique.
Nice to actually see more of this game. While it does look nice I'm not 100% sure about it so think I'll wait until after release to pick it up. Doesn't help I've got Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and Strangers of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin all releasing so close together.
Oh, yeah....
This is gonna be a BUY.
Edit: on second thought...
The spells need a bit more punch when shooting. The bodies disappearing as if it's a PS2 game feels incredibly cheap (wasn't this a memory problem? Why is this still a thing?), the grappling hook feels lame.
Grappling hooks are weird. Amazing mechanic to have in games, but devs rarely use it as a mechanic. Lots of games have it, but none actually incorporate it through gameplay or physics. It's just insta travel.
Still a buy tho
I was hoping it would look scarier
Probably a ‘buy for cheap, once I’ve cleared all this Q1 2022 goodness’ type of game.
Don't think I'll buy it day 1, but I went from not interested to "I'll probably buy it after I clear Elden Ring/Horizon"
This is definitely on my radar. With so much else out in the next month or so, I doubt I’ll get it at release, but probably at some point in the not too distant future.
This looks really cool but a bit slapstick in places. Maybe thats the point? Im just abit confused on whether this is a horror or not.
It will be interesting to see whether the combat can sustain interest for the full game. Either way its Tokyo, so i am fully on board.
Tango and Arkane still feel like the biggest losses of the Microsoft and Bethesda deal for me at least
Looks really good. I was disappointed to see it isn’t coming to PS4 also.
Sorta reminds me of a modern, Japanese take on Hexen.
Not really a "full $60" sorta game for me, but I could see myself buying it on sale down the road.
@Rob_230 "Tango and Arkane still feel like the biggest losses of the Microsoft and Bethesda deal"
Yeah definitely, I actually think Tango was the best equiped to do the Silent Hills remake if Kojima wasn't available. Not like Konami was going to let it happen either way, they are probably making Silent Hill Survive as we speak.
This does look dope as heck for me. Reminds me of Shadow Warrior, totally crazy but good fun!
I am very interested now
Who ever is doing the animations for the gameplay needs a raise cause that is some of the best I've seen in quite some time
@Rob_230 Well in the interview they said that they've been doing horror for years now and that this one is an action adventure
Glad to see this appeals to many. For me - I liked the powers and stuff but I’m not yet convinced the gameplay loop and action will be actually engaging. Definitely waiting to see more and maybe I’ll pick it up at some point (Deathloop went on sale pretty quickly).
Ok…So production values look lower than I expected, and it appears to be an open world game where you go around closing Gates while using your push a button to highlight things ability.
I’m still somewhat hopeful though…
@BoldAndBrash Not every dev makes enemies disappearing cause of memory management. Some do it for the style of the game and it certainly applies to this game.
Looks so good, can’t wait to play it.
When it was first announced I think I was more miffed and disappointed that it wasn't The Evil Within 3 so I didn't really pay much attention..however after seeing this video I'm now VERY interested!
Had my eye on this since it was first announced. Tango make interesting and generally fresh games... outrageous designs and gameplay and randomness of special Japanese video games....the showcase actually raised my expectations higher and I already had solid interest in this game.
@Bentleyma I feel that sadness but I also think it's great as it will be a true PS5 game...and this is a good thing.
I've had my eye on this since it was announced because I love the look and premise, but seeing it in action just sold me on it completely.
Still not sure what this is, but some of the combat related effects look great; the evirons, and building models look pretty bad though.
I think this game will hinge a ton on how interesting the story is.
Thanks I am 100% ready to go on this one, looks amazing! Tango is the bomb, baby!
Looks fun!
Hopefully PlayStation fans don't put off buying this because Tango Gameworks is owned by Microsoft.
Much like Deathloop, I will get the PS5 version despite knowing that a Game Pass version will come eventually.
Can’t help myself but I still don’t like this.
Looks pretty fantastic, this kind of game is why I bought a PS5. Only critique is there sure looks like a lot of Skyrim mage type play of running backwards while flinging spells.
Looks like a mix of Bioshock and Infamous gameplay set in Japan. I like it! Only thing is I wasn't a fan of The Evil Within so I think I'm still going to wait to see some reviews but consider myself interested.
Day one buy for me. I can't wait for it. Anything tango makes is great
I LOVE the animations for the character's attacks. It's so cool seeing so much arm/hand movement in a fps.
I might pre-order this. It looks great and I’ve had it in mind for ages. Shame we might not a get a sequel, but I’ll the message we want it on PS and prob skip buying the dualsenseless sequel on PC, send another message that way.
@BoldAndBrash Why would spirits keep around? It doesn’t thematically fit.
Looks quite unique. It has an arcade game feel to it. If it wasn't so close to ck3 release along with ER, GT7, HZDFW near by id consider it. Most likely a sale buy if the reviews are solid.
@BoldAndBrash halo incorporated the grapple hook through gameplay and physics, so did just cause
Sony are so funny at times… paying to keep games off other platforms for year/s finally came back and bites them in the butt…so they no doubt resent marketing this. On the other hand, they paid a lot of money for that timed exclusivity… so what do you do? Stealth release an ‘official showcase’. Heh either spend more money to market the game or don’t.
What they should do is use this game to promote psplus. Get themselves more subscriptions off the back of it by having it release on Plus or even Now day 1. Imagine if this was the launch game on their new service.
@Bleachedsmiles
No sht reaaaallyyy?
@Medic_Alert You think MS let them have this game on ps5 for a year no questions asked? They had no choice as Sony have a contract for exclusive rights to it for a year…which it’s not completely unreasonable to think may include how they wish to distribute it.
Finally. The hand gestures look fuppin incredible
@Medic_Alert not necessarily. Sonys mentality was to use exclusives to sell hardware…it served no benefit to put them on plus. This is why even now sony exclusives don’t stay on psnow for long as they’re still used to shift hardware.
Sonys mentality is slowly changing though. They want to get subscribers…which is why they’re supposedly releasing a new subscription model. And why the messaging of Sony has changed where they want to go beyond hardware.
If they can do it they should stick this on one of their subscription services…it’s the perfect game for it, and opportunity to test the water and see if numbers go up. Or if a new service hits around the same time it would be a decent incentive to get people signing up.
If they can’t do it they can’t. Either way, I’m not arguing with you over a damn idea.
Looks very cool
this looks amazing, I cannot wait!!!!!
Looks very unique! Not something I'd personally play but I hope it's great for those interested!
Interested... but why March? Late February to late March is already overstuffed with Horizon, Elden Ring, Gran Turismo, Stranger of Paradise, and possibly the PS5 versions of GTA5 and Cyberpunk.
Can’t do the Japanese language with subtitles.. hard pass.. I’m sure I’m missing out on Squid Game or w/e.. I just can’t do it
I'll be all over this like my moist sweaty rash over the majority of my body.
@WolfyTn You can get used to it, its hard to transition but trust me, entire WORLDS open up to you once you move past the language barrier. Hell, you start looking at life differently because now you're not stuck in your country's bubble. There is a world of mediums that you're missing out on.
Game looks like fun, but doubt I'll be buying day one! My game budget for March is already going towards Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
@reek though I respect your philosophy, I should’ve added that I think Pokémon is the only anime worth looking at.. I can’t stand anime style graphics.. I’ve tried and tried.. Most recently, I couldn’t get more than an hour into Persona 5 cuz it felt like my eyes were bleeding.. I even tried watching YouTube videos to get accustomed to it.. can’t do it.. not yucking someone else’s yum I promise.. I just think most anime style games/cartoons are horrendous to look at.. everyone’s different
