Months after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was pegged with a 2022 release target, Warner Bros has apparently pushed the promising Rocksteady project back. Respected Bloomberg scribe Jason Schreier reports that the title has been quietly delayed internally, and is now targeting 2023 instead. He cites “people familiar with [the game’s] development”.
There are also rumours that trouble may be afoot for other upcoming Warner Bros projects, including the hotly anticipated Harry Potter role-playing game, Hogwarts Legacy. That was originally due out in 2021, but hasn’t been publicly shown in over a year now. It’d be a devastating blow to the publisher’s lineup for both games to miss 2022 entirely.
We’ll contact Warner Bros and try to get clarification. In the meantime, it is worth noting that officially both games are still on track. Schreier is a highly-respected journalist, however, so confirmation will likely follow if this story is indeed true.

The way it’s going, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if MS bought Warner Bros’ gaming division. They don’t seem to be on top of things at all.
@nessisonett My first thought when I saw this rumour is that they're going to get bought out soon.
I guess the only issue is that the games/developers are intrinsically linked to the IP, which I imagine Warner Bros will be less eager to offload.
Let’s start the year as we mean to go on.
It will be more remasters announcement time soon.
@nessisonett is this because of COVID?
More time to make a better product and for people to own Next Gen consoles to enjoy. Easy decision
@nessisonett I doubt it. Harry Potter, Suicide Squad, Gotham Knights and especially multiversus will make em money. Mk12 is not that far either.
Aren't they in the middle of being flogged off by AT&T? Big disruption if true.
A Jason Schreier tweet that DOESN'T say "You are blocked?"
@nookie_egg Yeah Warner are being merged into Discovery.
@get2sammyb I think Sony are a strong possibility too. Sony seem to acquire talent rather then IPs, even Bungie. Would make sense for Sony to pick up a couple of them up.
@nessisonett I'd bet money on that being announced within the next few months. It's so obvious AT&T wants to get rid of them and Microsoft seems like a safe choice company to sell to.
“ps5s-suicide-squad-kill-the-justice-league-has-allegedly-been-delayed-until-2023”
…surprising no one.
this is so annoying , i’m so tired of this trend of delaying games .
Id rather gotham knights be delayed so we can have this first but hey ho normal AAA game industry
@nessisonett I've seen it mentioned that's the reason Netherrealm have pressed ahead with planning for MK12 rather than Injustice 3 with the uncertainty around the studio.
@Danloaded it shouldn't matter there being made by separate studios
Next year, next year? D*** it we just started this year!
@Kopite i know. Just saying out of the two ive been looking forward to this one alot more
im really hyped for gotham knights whenever that comes out.
How did I see this coming. Next will be hearing about Harry Potter.
I’m more excited for Gotham Knights, tbh.
@get2sammyb Why is this important part of the original article left out?
Edited: Warner Media Chief Executive Officer Jason Kilar wrote on Twitter last week this year’s release schedule alongside logos of the Harry Potter-based game Hogwarts Legacy and the Batman game Gotham Knights. Suicide Squad was notably left out."
It supports the alleged rumour.
Is there a missing source regarding these 'new' rumours or are you just bringing up out of date rumours? The wording is a bit misleading.
Thanks for clarification, I just strive for correct & best content here
@Danloaded SS is next gen only, so I'd rather have GK first because a lot of people don't have next gen consoles
Dang, so Arkham Knight came out in 2015 I think. If Suicide Squad is coming out next year, then that'll be eight years between releases! Are the same people who worked on the Arkham games still at Rocksteady though?
Jason's usually got it right, so I would put money on this.
It's barely after the start of the year, certainly (and unfortunately) this will not be the last title delayed into 2023.
@nessisonett I'll be praying that's not the case.
Lord of the Rings and DC owned by MS?
What a nightmare!
On topic, this is a shame but Gotham Knights should still release this year. That game looks pretty good.
@Blue_Persimmon exactly… There had to be one large project that was canceled in late development, otherwise the timeline of Rocksteady releases doesn’t make any sense. Even more so when you consider the consistency and pace they released their games before Arkham Knight
What have they done to my beloved Harley Quinn …
@Col_McCafferty It would be a shame for sure but it just wouldn’t really be a huge surprise given how much talk there’s been about AT&T wanting to flog it off.
Fingers crossed this turns out to be false, game should have had plenty of development time.
@nomither6
Games are getting more and more advanced with more and more moving parts as time goes on. More moving parts mean more and more things that can go wrong, leading to delays. It's just a fact to accept.
@PegasusActual93 they shouldn’t announce until they’re ready then . that’s what makes it annoying
@nomither6
Even if you are certain of a date and everything is in place for that date with just a few months before release some things can still unexpectedly go wrong in the final months.
another delay I was looking foward to this game
