Sigh, did WaddleDeeKnows teach us nothing? Mere weeks later and Twitter is once again up to its old tricks, this time with a new Sly Cooper title on the agenda. Unfortunately, for as much as we’d love to see the Thievius Raccoonus return, you’re going to be feeling very thirsty from the sheer amount of salt being tossed on this story.
AccountNGT gets the biggest bragging rights should this game ever actually emerge: the Star Wars Eclipse “insider” said that there’s a new Sly Cooper in development earlier this week, but Sucker Punch isn’t making it. Well, duh! Since then, talkative Xbox Era host Nick Baker has put his clout on the line: he claims Concrete Genie creator PixelOpus is developing the title, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation.
“My source has given me the greenlight,” he says, “but we’re still not 100 per cent certain.” Great.
To be fair, Baker has done his homework here: PixelOpus is working on a new project with Sony Pictures Animation, although we don’t know if that’s related to Sly Cooper or not. There was supposed to be an animated movie – it even got a trailer – but it never saw the light of day. Then there was talk of a new TV series, which also failed to materialise. Of course, all of this preceded PlayStation Productions.
Weirdly, this rumour strikes us as plausible, but there’s really nothing concrete here at all. It’s worth noting that Baker previously mentioned a new inFAMOUS is also in development, so he sure seems to like dormant Sucker Punch series. “There’s a chance we could see inFAMOUS make a return at Sony’s showcase,” he said in September last year. “Take this one with a grain of salt.”
Still waiting!

Hey It Could Happen
I really wish we would get a new Sly Cooper, it is legitimately my favorite PlayStation series, I love all of the games.
I think a few of Sony's dormant IP's are going to be revived due to PlayStation Productions, we know that Twisted Metal is all but certain. Sly Cooper could do well as a animated series.
The Sly Cooper TV Show supposedly still in development, only now it's under PlayStation Productions, I see no reason why they wouldn't revive the Sly Cooper franchise and make new games to coincide with the upcoming TV Show, they're supposedly doing the same with Twisted Metal & maybe The Last of Us.
Rumors were that Sumo Digital were working on this new Sly Cooper game, but I'm hoping it is actually PixelOpus because while playing Concrete Genie it definitely felt like a nice blend of Sly Cooper & Infamous (Ash even looks like a young Delsin Rowe IMO). While I wouldn't be opposed to Sumo Digital making a Sly Cooper game, they did a fantastic job with Sackboy A Big Adventure, but knowing it could be being worked on by a First-Party Studio, I think it's in better hands with PixelOpus... assuming all this is true, and yes I am leaning toward it being true.
A series I’ve never touched. Should probably play the Vita ports at some point.
It will be hard to have good shows for Sly and Ratchet and games like that because they will be made for kids probably. Animated series for kids can be good, but playing is way better than watching so this might be hard to get right
I'd love a new Infamous! I think I platinumed every game in the series except Festival of Blood because the community features were offline by the time I played it via PS Now.
I don't see why they can't make new games or remakes for Sly Cooper and Jax (and Daxter) amongst others. These kinda protagonista do so well for Nintendo.
Oh sweet Jesus please let this be a new Sly Cooper. I've played the original Trilogy to death now.
We can finally get Sly out of Egypt.
That is where he was stuck at the end of 4, right? I can't remember, it's been what 10-12 year since it released?
I would gladly pay $70 for another fun Sly Cooper game that wraps up the cliffhanger from Thieves in Time.
I'd squeal like a school girl if Sly came back. By far the best platformer series to ever grace Playstation imo. Bring the gang back!
God i hope they don’t butcher the writing , thieves in time left me with a really sour taste . as a fan since childhood , the franchise ended BEAUTIFULLY with 3 ; so whatever filler they add please stick to the trilogy roots and dont change who the characters are . they already ruined one in thieves in time and sly to some degree .
I've always liked sly more than crash , ratchet and jak . Not sure why the series isn't more popular
@AFCC The problem is they’d focus on making them kid-oriented instead of kid-friendly . it’s what made the original trilogy so great was that they were kid-friendly , but the writing and dialogue was still relatable to older audiences (and i was a kid at the time during the trilogy days on ps2) .
that’s the way to go imo . that’s what made everyone’s favorite cartoons so great was that balance . nobodies favorite cartoon is blue clues for example ; i wonder why ? 😂
Should also be mentioned that according to this "insider", the new game won't be unveiled until the second half of this year, which would put it in line with the Sly Cooper series' 20th anniversary.

But yeah, much as I want SC back, I'm taking all this with plenty of salt, like with all rumors.
A truly unique franchise. Love the graphic, voices, and the humour
@Korgon I prefer crash & spyro but definitely enjoyed the games that bit where Bentley was sending pics to his online gf was really funny 😂
Oh you mean the guys who said State of Play would be Sony big event and everyone ran with it and then forget they were predictably wrong in the first place but prefer hating on facts not meeting their expectation and shaking fist at the clouds?
Edit
Maybe stop quoting the xboxera guys. It’s getting ridiculous.
Quote about the March ‘show’
‘This is supposed to be the good one’
Love the Sly games but Bentley and Murray might be the most annoying characters in any videogame ever. I played most of the remastered collection on mute because the voice acting was like nails on a chalkboard.
Our NYC regular on here will be chuffed. Word up son.
@TheCollector316 Luckily for you, Festival of Blood didn’t have a platinum!
My five year dream would finally come true! (Or whenever TOT came out)
It makes alot of sense to me, and if so best of luck to pixel opus. Great developer.
@Korgon
Always had lots of interest in the series, but never played them unfortunately. Haven't played much of Crash or Spyro either, but those I'm sure I can do without.
Sly is much more appealing to me tbh. If they're on PS4 I need to play them....
I never played Sly Cooper.
Sly Cooper, and also Jak and Daxter, both just passed me by, so I'd be very curious to see if there was a new game on the way so I could jump on the bandwagon.
@CrispyMango92
You're right! The lack of a crispy 100% next to the trophies earned still hurts, though.
PixelOpus are brilliant so if true then I can't wait to see it & that 'talkative Xbox Era host Nick Baker' only seems to talk about 'PlayStation' stuff Poor Xbox brand doesn't even have any rumours to
I was really underwhelmed by the last Infamous, mechanically it barely felt it had developed any further on from Second Son, yes it was more fluid, but it didn't leave a great impression for me.
PixelOpus might be perfect for Sly
They should get Nixes or Bluepoint on a PS4/5 version of a port of the old games first. The problem for many of these old series is that they are largely unknown to the current audience and should be reintroduced before a new game in the way that Crash had a remastered collection then a new game.
I loved Sly back in the day and would love to see it back but PixelOpus made something truly unique with Concrete Genie and I would rather see them concentrate on new experiences like that.
Sly cooper is my second favorite platformers of all times next to ratchet and clank.but we need a sly cooper collection first.i love all the sly cooper games.sly cooper is a legendary franchises.word up son
If Insomniac can give us an incredible new Ratchet and Clank game then Sucker Punch should revisit both Infamous and Sly Cooper and Naughty Dog could give us a new Jak and Daxter. Yes, they’ve all since moved into new projects but ND games are kinda getting too samey and predictable and Ghost of Tsushima, whilst excellent, wasn’t a great open world game with way too much filler content. Just look at Guerilla to see how to craft a fantastic new open world game …
But I digress. Fans still love the franchises and there’d definitely be a huge market for them. So, come on guys?
Sony need to revive some FPS asap. Killzone or Resistance are both great IPs ready for the reboot.
I love the Sly Cooper games and would be more than happy to see the series return, let alone see Sony release more platformers.
@Snatcher it’s been 9 years since Sly 4. But same, I’ve been waiting for a new Sly ever since. Sony sent it out to die. I always said if they just delayed it for the PS4 launch, it probably would’ve sold gangbusters. Damn you Sony!!!
@TheCollector316 I can’t imagine your pain… literally. I have 100% on all the Infamous games!😛
Sorry. As an agent of CHAOSSSSS, I had to brag.
@CrispyMango92 DAMN, its been nine years!
@BritneyfR_ee Oh God, "THE MURRRRRAY" made me want to punch my tv everytime his fat purple ass appeared, just stfu!!!
I’d like to see Sony bring back some of their classic franchises.
A new Jak and Daxter, please.
And while we are at it, a remake of Legend of Dragoon? The one time Sony tried to make a JRPG internally. It had its problems, but it was a great first try.
@nookie_egg yeah they could definitely tone murray down … a lot , not gonna lie . he was fine in sly 2 but in sly 3 , flanderization happened and they made him obnoxious .
i don’t remember how he was in thieves in time but , who cares , lol.
@SlySnake0407 Sorry yes I was referring to Infamous 2.
I passed on the Sly Cooper games during the PS2 era, but ended up loving them when I finally tried them out via the PS3 HD Remaster collection + Sly 4!
Please let this latest rumor be true...I'd sell my soul for another Sly Cooper or Jak & Daxter game.
Didn't get into Sly Cooper until a few years ago, but I would love a new entry. Sly Cooper is exactly the kind of IP I want to see return to get me to buy a PS5 (that and Jak and Daxter).
Sony need this. They have had two sore spots in their published lineup since PS3 released, multiplayer games and rated E games. R&C games are great, Rift Apart was probably my favorite game last year but one series doesn't sell multiple consoles to families.
I've had to buy 3 Switches for my family (that's where Nintendo are getting these big numbers) but I imagine that the PS2 would have been the last PS anyone else in my family would have wanted their own of. We need to get back to the variety we had in the lineup back then.
I'd pay $70 for that!
@nomither6 yeah, you're right actually! Cartoon Network classic cartoons were a good example of cartoons that hold up for adult audience too
