Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5 is being made available to all developers starting today, but as part of a presentation from the publisher, it's been confirmed that PlayStation VR2 titles and the new IP from Haven Studios will also be running on the new engine. It's not disclosed what PSVR2 games will be running on Unreal Engine 5, although the first game out of PlayStation Studios' newest recruit joins a new entry in The Witcher series on the engine.
Both the PSVR2 and Haven Studio logos were shown in a graph detailing what studios are currently using Unreal Engine 5 for their games, as seen below. PSVR2 appears in the top right, while Haven Studio is in the bottom left. They're joined by the likes of Supermassive Games, Focus Entertainment, and 2K.
If you want a taste of what Unreal Engine 5 can do, don't forget about The Matrix Awakens released for PS5 last year. In other news, a new Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics is also confirmed to be using the brand new engine. For more information, check out our PSVR 2 guide.

How many of them makes Nintendo first party game or even second party . That i want to know
What's the point of putting
Xbox and inxile/Obsidian/Rare/initiative
PlayStation/PSVR2/ Haven.
They are in the same family of gaming.
6 Sony studio’s will use Ue5.
Haven, Sony Bend, Sony London, Firespite games,Housemarque,pixielopus all using or will be using Ue5 for they’re games.
@NomNom Cause then you can put more on a picture. And we all know more = better.
@munstre In an ideal world yes but we've seen over the last decade where so many games were stuck in development hell or games came out very underwhelming because their publishers insisted on using in house engines that can't handle the tasks.
Final Fantasy XV, Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem were big examples of this. It's better to have teams use an off the shelve engine that enables them to start development sooner.
And in the end we will see that it isn't the engine nor the ip that makes a good game. It's about the quality of the creative people who work in these studios.
Strange to see Remedy on this list... You figure that they would continue to use northlight.
This engine is real hype! Can't wait to see what the top tier devs can do with this
CANNOT WAIT for this thing.
@Ridwaano None probably. Nintendo Switch is behind the times when it comes to hardware/software power...
@NomNom
It pads out a graphic, like the one included in this article, quite nicely. Also, most people don't keep track of who owns what studios.
@munstre
Please share with us your background so that we might put some weight behind your words. Or else I must insist you quit all that jibber-jabber.
I’m no dev but people can say what they want, I like the intent they demonstrated again and again and led the way for high expectation in the new gen 👍🏻
People (including Twitter journalist Celebs) were downplaying it in 2020, (AND) others downplaying it now is weird to me.
@munstre Not necessarily. Perhaps if you're using Nanite, Lumen, etc. to get the greatest fidelity possible. Neither are required. You can still build a game with current lighting engines or not use Nanite.
@munstre Additionally while I understand the point about different engines and consolidation, there is some merit to more people working on the same engine. e.g.
I've never quite understood the idea that an engine has a 'look' or style unless it is the most basic game with limited or weak art direction. All the following games were made in UE4 and they all look entirely different Kena Bridge or Spirits, Yoshi's crafted world, FF7 Remake, It Takes Two, Concrete Genie, Abzu, Ace Combat 7, Tekken 7, What remains of Edith Finch, Jedi Fallen Order, The Pathless, The Artful Escape, Tales of Arise, Sifu, Scarlet Nexus, Sackboy a Big Adventure, Little Nightmares 2, Life is Strange True colours, Octopath Traveller and many many more.
Put another way Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3 look entirely different despite having many of the same artists and using the RED engine.
I expect UE5 to run for over a decade. Hope we will see great things in this generation and not in 1080p/30fps
@Rural-Bandit Oh trust me I understand, I own a Switch and over 15 games for it. My most recently played game is Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
I just wish they cared about better graphics (4K) and higher fps (60-120).
@Rural-Bandit Here's hoping the rumored 4K Switch Pro still exists and will release in 2023-2024...
And no it was never the OLED Switch, they're different.
