Jane Foster, aka the Mighty Thor, comes to Marvel's Avengers today as a free update. Packing a new moveset and story, she will be playable for everyone who owns the game along with previous post-launch superheroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther. Unfortunately, though, Jane Foster doesn't bundle in a new campaign to run through.

This update is simply a new addition to the roster, meaning you'll be playing the same content just with a new moveset. And even then, she'll play very similarly to Thor himself. Much like Hawkeye and Kate Bishop, they're almost essentially the same character. Still, Jane Foster will have some unique abilities whilst wielding Mjolnir like God Tempest, which "increases ranged hammer damage and creates shockwaves with each hit".

Foster's most powerful attack is her ult named The All-Weapon. "Drawn from the pages of her Thor and Valkyrie runs, Jane sends Mjolnir to seek and destroy nearby enemy targets. Meanwhile, she calls forth the All-Weapon Undrjarn to protect her, reducing all damage taken while smiting her foes."

Of course, you'll also be able to customize the superhero with various outfits and decals. She'll also have takedowns, emotes, nameplates, and her own free Battle Pass. Inevitably, you'll probably be able to hand over real cash for some of these items too.

The PlayStation Blog post notes that beyond today's 2.5 patch, Crystal Dynamics will be adding "two new challenges as part of an ambition to advance our narrative through hero and villain-centric content". And if you're a PS Plus subscriber — no matter whether that's PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, or PS Plus Premium — you can unlock free membership rewards including a suit for Ms. Marvel, three-day hero's catalysts and fragment extractors, and 500 Units.
